Someone Has Found All 900 Korok Seeds In Zelda

that reward omg
I don't seek out Korok seeds but boy every time I see an obvious Korok in the distance I go for it. It doesn't take long and it's more than worth the time. I've got so many weapon and bow slots :3
What does this even mean? Nintendo put a lot more seeds in the game that is needed to max your inventory space. You dont need to get 900

lol

I don't really understand the hostility to collectibles. I love collectibles and achievements. Why is it
a good thing Nintendo gives you nothing. Everyone seems to be going "HAHA Nintendo giving the big middle finger to collectibles" When its not that at all. It's a big middle finger to you. Oh you want to explore our world and find all these collectibles? Well here's a piece of shit. Fuck you. I don't find it funny, I find it annoying. If you wanted to make a statement on collectibles being a waste of time, then don't fucking add them. Say "We find our world has enough merit to not need collectibles. Just go out and explore." If Nintendo took the time to hide them, don't tell me they didn't have the time to actually make some minor reward. A Majoras Mask. A Ocarina. A cool little "game" for the sheikah slate that lets you play the original Zelda. But yeah lul Nintendo sure trolled us epic joke.

Some ppl in the thread need 2 take a step back if they're takin personal offense at this.

There's a lot of reward for collecting them, well beyond what 99.9% of players will actually collect during a playthrough.

Yes, I'm glad they didn't hide meaningful content behind what would be one of the single worst collectathon sidequests in gaming history. Korok seeds only work under the principal that you won't and shouldn't collect all 900.

People claiming that it's better than if they locked something good behind 900 seeds - why are you bothered? You don't NEED to have that something good. It would be a reward for people who enjoy the collectible they've designed in their game. It's pretty hypocritical.

Pretty lame.

It's not hypocritical to not want big things locked behind shit I don't want to or won't ever do.

Tedious unlock conditions for content are BS, and the entire implementation of Korok seeds in BotW (no "radar", no per-region counts, no map indicator, nothing) is entirely against players actually collecting them all. I vastly prefer anything interesting to be available within the scope of what of I'm willing to put into a game, cost-wise, and time-wise. That's why I'm against Amiibo content (I don't want to spend money don't want to own more shit), and am against crap tedium like pirate maps in some of the Disgaea games.

Well, the game has locked amiibo content for people who buy amiibos.

It also has a completion meter in the game that the seeds add up to, and they make exploration integral to their game and the korok seeds are a fun part of that.

To shit on people who enjoy their collectible is lame. And people who use "completionism sucks" as an excuse or justification for this are being hypocritical if their reasoning is but I'd want that! You don't need it.

So you personally are against tedious things so then said things should not be in a video game? I happen to find that the 900 seeds is stupid as hell but them being there does not take away from my experience if I choose not to collect them.

Spoiler alert, everything is hidden behind locked shit in this game. Rune powers, costumes, weapons... even the fricken wolf is locked behind a quest where you go to the store and buy an amiibo

BTW can't we use the Sheika Slate Sensor to find Korok's? Or does it not detect them until they've been revealed? Why do we need a map?

They aren't collectibles, really. They are a consumable item. Like apples, hot peppers, or bugs, you use them to enhance your characters abilities.

How to you even find all the seeds in this game unless you're using a grid system or something?

A friend of mine is actually graphing the locations of the seeds she found and then looking in areas that fewer seeds have been found to find more. Reminds me of pen and paper RPG's back in the day or even text based PC RPG's.

More power to her for not using guides.

Problem is 100%ing Zelda games has been a thing forever. 900 is going to be mandatory for that no matter the intent by the design.

- Nintendo makes it so there are only 200 seeds in the game: "I enjoyed searching for all the Korok seeds, this is good game design."

I think the point is to make them plentiful so that they are easy to stumble upon. That way you don't have to break out a guide but you can still find enough to upgrade your inventory slots at a good pace. I like it.

So Nintendo either caters to a tiny population of completionists and puts a smaller number of korok seeds in the game that is more manageable for these players to collect, or they make the seeds plentiful and cater to a much larger audience that doesn't want to search high and low just to upgrade the size of their inventory....

I think they made the right decision.

I think it's just the Nintendo Defense Force calling it the most brilliant, genius thing Ever1! that annoys me.
I mean I laughed at it too, but 900 of those seeds is an excessive way to troll those of us who want to get the most out our game (and are maybe a little ocd)

900!?!?!?
Didn't people complain about the 200/300 collectibles in a certain Assasin's Creed?
You don't have to get any of them, and none of them clutter up your map. It's actually pretty exciting when you happen upon a spot with one, because it's generally because you wandered off the main path to explore. The designers had a knack for anticipating where people would go. It's weird... it's like hidden star placement in the newer Mario games, etc.

That being said, the reward for 900 is so amazingly dumb and genius at the same time. Poe reward in TP was the biggest letdown IMO.

Nintendo makes it so there are only 200 seeds in the game: "Fuck finding every last seed in the game; also, zones are so barren. "

You're on drugs if you think most people, let alone everyone, would be satisfied with that design. I for one much prefer to have "find 450 out of 900 to max your stuff", and also enjoyed every one of the Koroko seeds I've found, so how would having less seeds be a good thing?

But hey, by all means keep pretending your preferred implementation is the correct one and any player or game dev disagreeing with you is objectively wrong. I mean, that's what all this is about, isn't it?
You can either have a large map with a bunch of repetitive puzzles that give you items with little value, or you can have a large map with less repeated puzzles that are annoyingly difficult to find. The solution is to not make the map so big when you don't have enough good content to properly fill it.

To get on more recent topic, I think the korok seeds are fine. There are a ton but it just means wherever you happen to wander to there's probably something to do.

Zelda is one of those franchises where completionists aren't just weird wackos but rather a decent chunk of the player population much like speed runners are in Metroid.

It's genius on Nintendo's part. They are basically parodying the whole worthless "collectible" BS in modern open world games. Basically pointing a middle finger to collecting X number of items for no other reason to pad out the game. (A good example is Assassin Creed games).

Genius when Nintendo does it, but other games get reamed for it. ;) (AC games also actually give you gear or whole outfits for collecting things.)

Well played, Nintendo.

If Miyazaki (FromSoftware) sees this he would burst out laughing immediately, this is EXACTLY his type of humour.

Never forget the pendant in Dark Souls and Yharnam stone in Bloodborne.

Collecting Korok Seeds gives you inventory slot upgrades, which are very useful. The joke is that there's no point in going out of your way to collect every single one of them, because just keeping your eyes peeled as you wander around normally will get you more than enough.

So I don't want to be that guy, but isn't this title kind of a spoiler? The game intentionally does not tell you how many seeds there are. I know my friends don't want to know how many seeds are in the game, and I feel like other people on GAF might not want to know as well. Kind of inconsiderate if you considering you could of just left the number off on the title and would of had the same impact.

That just makes the whole thing seem frivolous to me, but to each their own.

I'm not really understanding the negativity here. This is a bonus collectible that gives you something to find for many, many hours past completion, and also gives you a reason to explore the world.

I think the joke is that 'surely, no one is actually going to collect them all'. With this in mind, no wonder the reward is a silly cosmetic thing. Similar to completing the compendium, you receive a useless key item.

Only needing to obtain just shy of half of them for all upgrades makes total sense. I've clocked 110 hours into the game, and I've only found 290 korok seeds, so i've still got plenty to keep coming back for if I want full inventory slots.

I just don't get what the problem is. This isn't a traditional collect-a-thon, but rather a fun bonus so you are always discovering something new. Opinions right.

Thanos is unlocked as a playable character for 100% completing the game.
