Someone is spying on me and telling others shit about me.

OP what is all this nonsense you are spewing? Does someone know a deep dark secret about you and now you want to silence them? That's what I took from that. Of course you could have conveyed that point much easier by simply cutting out all that nonsensical BS and saved us a lot of confusion. ;)

OP you should seek professional help.

And by that I mean a body guard.

Better call Saul! BTW, I read your post as Saul. haha

Seriously, I have an ex-friend who was diagnosed as schizophrenic in his early 20's and this reads EXACTLY like some of his ramblings at the time he was being diagnosed. I remember him telling me about the people who were constantly watching him, and then he tried going completely "off the grid", next thing I know he's shaved his head and eyebrows, he's eating his feces from the toilet and trying to have sex with me and all my friends...no word of lie.

Seriously OP, either open up here and tell us what's happening or please please seek treatment. This will end up getting worse before it gets better if you don't get help.

OP:

If they know about the Xbox One® controller and they're deep in GamersGate, then I guarantee they have people on this very forum. No doubt it's the people trying to dissuade you, make you look foolish, tell you you sound paranoid, etc. Don't let them fool you. Fight tooth and nail for the truth, and bring down their whole conspiracy like a house of cards. Keep fighting the good fight, and stay safe.

Edit: Ah, I can't do this in good conscience. This post is a joke OP. Stop this madness.

I wish everyone wasn't fucking with OP as much as they are because it's very clear that he has some psychological issues and he needs to seek help.

He'll probably never post in here again, though.

OP, as somebody who was in an eerily similar situation but with much less severity, I really would advise you to go to a psychiatrist and print out the posts you've made in the thread. If the coworkers are in fact spying on you, it'll become clear in the meeting with the psychiatrist and they will be able to help you work through this while maintaining your mental health. If you are suffering some rather severe delusions, as I must very honestly confess I believe, you will be able to have these dealt with and you will be able to lower your suspicion, not live in a fearful state where you feel people are out to get you, and you will see your mood improve tenfold.

It is perhaps the most terrifying thing to arrange a meeting with a psychiatrist and go into that meeting and open up honestly, but this honestly passes so quickly, and you will very quickly become comfortable with them and see it as something which ends up very beneficial to you in all aspects of your life as it will be the first step in helping you on the road to recovery. It is not something anybody wants to hear, and it's very easy to dismiss these concerns as simply absurd or outright false, I know I did, but I really cannot emphasise enough that you really, absolutely, should make an appointment with a psychiatrist as soon as possible (get a meeting as soon as you can, it doesn't matter what you have planned, this is more urgent) and show them posts you've made in this thread. If what you say is true, the psychiatrist will help you work through it while preserving your mental health. If in fact it isn't real, your psychiatrist will be able to help you see this and allow you to live without overwhelming, hurtful suspicions and the feeling of persecution. It's a win-win.

^ OP, ignore me and everyone else in this thread and listen to this guy. You need to seek help urgently.

Just need some advice on figuring out who this guy is without resorting to heavy-handed methods of *making* someone tell me.

This is the part that has me the most scared. You have to go talk to someone before you do something you'll end up regretting.

I have a patient on the ward who shaved his eyebrows and head. He's got paranoid schizophrenia as do most there. I never figured out his reasoning for that.

Maybe it's a form of trichotillomania? I know it's super common in humans and animals under stress. I have it. When I'm really stressed I start pulling the hair off of my eyebrows. I've seen it in captive animals, too. It's heartbreaking.

Well, back guys. I'm at work ATM so I've not had much time to read or reply.

Anyway, yeah, looking at things it's probably one of my coworkers. A few of them are wierdos with nothing better to do when who've been disciplined for gossip on some of the other employees here before anyway. I'll give more details when I get back from work in an hour or so.

As for now I'm looking into it. And no, I'm pretty sure I'm not nuts.

As for the bags score, yeah, that... Yeah one of my buddies Facebook'd that shit now that I recall.

Even assuming it really is a coworker and all of this is real (which sounds like a stretch), don't do something stupid that will get you fired. Be sensible.

OP's posts are almost word for matching a paranoid schizophrenic on my Facebook feed. It's such a scary thing to watch a mind slowly degrade over time :(

Good luck, and get help OP.

Get help, OP. I'm not saying this to be a dick or anything like that, but I've seen this before with my dad and he says the exact kind of stuff you're saying now and it's sad to read. Good luck.

...before they say something potentially damaging to me beyond my purchase history and who I visited. There's already enough damage done from details about me that this spy has leaked that for obvious reasons I won't be posting here. But I've got a lot of people around me who are viewing me as a dishonest and secretive douche because of this guy spreading things that I'd rather not broadcast on national television. I mean, jesus, this guy doesn't even have the decency to attempt blackmail before blowing shit wide open.

This is the part that is really weird to me. The spy is disclosing true facts that make you look dishonest and secretive? Are you cheating on your spouse?

Even if someone was spying on me and telling everyone about anything I do, I'd probably be vaguely annoyed at the relatively minor inconvenience and everyone else would be very bored at my pedestrian lifestyle. What the hell are you doing that has got you so worried? Selling drugs to kids? Beating up old ladies? Cheating on the wife? Maybe you should think about cleaning yourself up if a "spy" has got you so nervous.

OP posts read like half thought sentences, almost like a symptom caused by a psychotic crisis.

People spread shit about everyone at my work, I haven't put any attention to it even once, I just shrug it off and keep going about my business, your reaction seems to suggest what many already guessed, or something very sensitive about your personal life got uncovered among your every day colleagues.

Didn't read the entire thread, but: The only reason you'd care about this is if you're a drug dealer or you're cheating on your spouse. Whichever one that is would grossly narrow down who's spying on you.

You sure you're not like... mentioning this shit casually in passing and not really registering it, and then they bring it up a few days later? Making connections that aren't actually there?

Maybe I'm overlooking this information somewhere, but how in the hell did all of the stuff in the OP occur in a natural conversation?

"So, looks like you had a good day yesterday, huh? Playing some bag score. Getting some grub... Paying with cash."

Like, how do you possibly work that last detail in?

I know, this is what gets me. Not only that, but how do you let this continue for what seems like a long time? Apparently this guy just randomly walks up to OP and starts reading off his everyday activities... at work, and OP hasn't even told his boss. Not to mention that the place he works has a few of the coworkers disciplined for gossip on other employees? What? Where do you even work, OP?

I know you said you're not nuts but I'm a little concerned. As I and others mentioned all of your posts in this thread point to early stage schizophrenia. I hope that's not the case but your posts make little sense.

A phone touchscreen with dry fingers with a 15 minute time limit on my break isn't exactly conducive to writing large sentences and paragraphs.

Anyway, it's time to clear some shit up in here:

The shit that's damaging for me? The controller, or games in general - Anything related to that. Like I said earlier, I live in a small town with an ultraconservative temperament to it. A lot of the people here are *really* nutty on certain subjects, and the "games are evil" rhetoric is still the mainstream around here, along with a lot of other old-fashioned conservative 'ideas'. So, as my hobby clashed with this town's dogma, I kept it hidden and upheld the Productive Hard Working WASP American facade, which is about one of only three accepted archetypes of people around here, next to Football Players and Soldiers.

To that end, pretty much all my public facing details on anything I have related to gaming are associated to the Sven Dahl alias in Sweden such that I don't risk having anything related to my name and gaming popping up in the event that my name gets googled. So, yes, I'm a closet-gamer, and any proof of me being a gamer is damaging shit as long as I live here, especially after August 2014's events - Lord Odin help me if the locals ever end up hearing about GG and find out I'm a gamer, because these are exactly the kind of people who would associate that shit with me. One of the neighbor families has been giving me shit for a long time now for not following their orthodoxy, and them knowing that I play games would be great fuel for them to continue their douchebaggery. If anyone is curious, the associate I mentioned in the OP is that family's son, and, well, me and him have never exactly been on great terms with eachother, and I've done my best to keep our current relations strictly professional.

So, since pretty much forever that I've been into gaming after being introduced to Steam by a cousin I've been all-digital, and going to Amazon whenever I explicitly wanted a physical copy or hardware, but I slipped up on that recently in hype for ToZ, and bought myself an Xbone controller on the assumption that the MnK controls would probably be ass, completely forgetting about Amazon out of impatience over how long they've taken to ship things out here in the past. Anyway, the lease on the house I'm renting is over this December, so I'm probably going to get out of this place and head off for Chicago before I genuinely go insane from hearing some stupid Republican schlock in-person for the billionth time.

Just one thing though: Anyone else not exactly liking the directions things are going lately, with how anyone who is concerned about their privacy and unwelcome snooping are deemed a schizophrenic nutjob? That's not a healthy idea to be accepting as gospel.

Oh, and, since I plan on moving to Chicago in the near future, I just want to throw this out here: Anyone know of any IT companies in the area looking to fill entry level positions, particularly related to QA and testing? I've got MTA and MCP certifications, and am currently studying towards getting an MCSD in ALM. Recent events, including the one I mentioned in the OP are giving me the sign it's finally time to hit the eject button on retail and get my foot in the door in IT while I'm still young.

If you're moving anyway who cares if people find out you are into games?
I think you are over reacting my friend.

  • How small is your town?
  • If these people are as ultraconservative and anti-video game as you say I don't know if they're savvy enough to find out about or understand a Gamergate.

I don't believe that a whole town would be taken over with anti-video game hysteria. This is some weird shit.

I can see people busting your balls about playing games though. I get that all the time at work.

Town vs CertifiedFP, seems like it. Or Gameloose. For real though, the whole town cares that much about you being a gamer?

Eh, not necessarily the whole town, more like the neighborhood I'm in. But if I'm moving I'm going to make a move that's worthwhile instead of going to the opposite side of a small town and maybe find myself in the '60s or '70s instead of the '50s stasis my neighborhood is in.

I mean, jesus, if I am paranoid, it's from spending the past decade in this one town. There was no end to the shit I got in 2008 and 2012 from the locals, and with the 2016 election coming up, it's going to be just like the past two elections. That's enough for me.

So you think they're taking hours upon hours of their time and effort to follow and catch you doing mundane shit like buying video games? And they're going to do what with this info? You describe this anti-video-game-rightwing town like it's North Korea or something. I've never heard of such an extremist place. Something doesn't add up, and with the law of averages I assure you there are at least a dozen consoles around where you live, played by kids, and adults alike.

Anyway, as for more info:

This shit has been happening ever since I attended a Bernie Sanders rally and wore a pin supporting him when I came back home. Unfortunately, I live in a very conservative old-money middle-class area that has been very vocal about how much they hate liberals, especially Obama. It's been getting more intense lately though.

Like, I get the idea that whoever they are is likely trying to intimidate me into leaving, but that's not going to happen. Not anytime soon if I can help it.

Also, I might have pissed off Gamergate at some point as well.

Make an appointment to see a psychiatrist. I think your thought process is fixated on paranoia.

I don't know shit about psychiatry, but you do sound really stressed out. Unless you exist in Kevin Smith's Red State I don't know what kind of danger you could be in because you play video games.

Moving to Chicago might help, but maybe you need to seek other help of some kind. This isn't said as an insult but as a concern.

It's interesting because it seems like the hardest part when dealing with people who may be experiencing a psychotic break is the trying to rationalize with them? How have members here broken into that type of psyche in the past. Just a question for the people who've actually dealt with it with loved ones and such. It just seems so difficult.

Really happy to see your appointment went well.

My mother. It took a divorce for her to seek help.

My mother. It took a divorce for her to seek help.

Yeah, it seems like a shock to the system or some sort of rock bottom is needed or outside intervention. The ability to rationalize with someone is the key. Like, the OP needs help most likely but he'd have to acknowledge that something is wrong yet he sees what is going on around him as reality even though we're trying to tell him to seek help.

Seriously, dude. There are only two choices for this thread.

  1. Troll thread
  2. You sincerely need to go talk to someone

What the fuck do you think the people in your neighborhood would do to you if they found out you were a gamer? The way you talk about it needing to be a closely guarded secret is not normal.

Hey OP are you female? Is so then you're screwed. If you're male then deal with it! Haha j/k. The best thing to do here (provided the lack of details) is to play along with this mind fuck. Start following them around and just bring up details of their daily habits in converstaion or when they provide details of what you were doing as a reubuttal. Following them may be the easiest way to find out if it is really them following you.

This sounds like a fun game actually.
