Something about Crytek and Turkey that seems to be wrong

lol the source changed the headline, the URL which you can clearly see in the OP clearly says crytek RECEIVES it but now when you click it you get an updated headline and updated URL that says the other way around.

I assume they are just calculating the cost of Crytek operating an office in Turkey for a period of years. I doubt the 'investment' is anything more than that.

That's not what that article says at all. It says CRYTEK will invest $500 m in Turkey.

Crytek has 500 million to invest? Wut?

That's even more unbelievable and bizarre.

Blah. Not really. I mean, $500 m isn't that much when you consider that these numbers often mean the cost of running a studio for numerous years. A big studio like Ubisoft's main one in Montreal must spend hundreds of millions a year only in salaries.

Nobody is reading the freaking source. IT'S THE OTHER WAY AROUND. Crytek is (supposedly) investing 500 m in Turkey.
It appears that Crytek is getting $500m from Turkey to invest in Crytek in Turkey.

Also the story has been updated since it was posted.

Lumberyard is based on Cryengine 3.8. Cryengine V has been improved quite a bit since then.
Sadly Amazon has made better improvements and offers better support.

Considering the current situation in Turkey, this doesn't seem like the greatest move in the world. More a desperation Hail Mary.

Crytek, get a Crysis Collection out for next gen consoles built on the latest cryengine. Port Ryse to PS4 and then announce Crysis 4, make a comeback like DOOM 2016 did. Take some inspiration from Crysis 1/Warhead......

Crytek's main issue is getting a publisher. Crysis didn't end on a high note and they have been pretty unreliable with their budgets. With publishers preferring to fund their internal studios lately, they will likely continue to pursue the next big thing instead of going AAA.

Unlike Insomniac, they don't have a perished IP and support from a close publisher, so they aren't out of the woods yet.

Best wishes.

Seriously...why didn't the satellite studios work on that...

Actually....
...
..What were they working on?
Cryengine market has like 10 assets and still rumored to not be documented.

So they can't afford to pay their employees yet they can afford to invest 500million into this....

I doubt they'll have any employees left after this if that's the case.

That's not what what the article you linked to says, even now, nevermind the headline. Why are you pushing this? It's a bit strange.

I think that the news are fake.

It's been just a couple of days that they announced they will focus on "their core competencies" and on the studio's in Frankfurt and Kiev (http://www.crytek.com/news/crytek-outlines-future-plans-and-focuses-on-return-to-core-competencies).

Why should they invest money in a studio (Istanbul) they are about to close (IMHO) - this does not make any sense.

I could imagine that the turkish government would do such an investment to save the studio and the workplaces but for Crytek itself such an investment would not make any sense.

Wouldn't that make crytek the biggest game developer instantly?

That's a massive amount of money

Not that this news is true, but no. These kinds of investment announcements are often like this : oh, we'll spend 50 m per year for 10 years, hence the 500 m. A big studio with 2,000 employees can spend 130-140 m easily just on wages and benefits every year.

Haha what a funny thread, good luck to Crytek, wonder if they have some hidden funds here and there. I bet they will get somewhat supported as well as they have some experience in military stuff.
