I'm ashamed to say I'm partial to telephone...the video's kinda cool too...boyant Beyonce is there...got the constume thing going on...

I know it's everything that people love and everything that people hate about Drake rolled up into a ball, but I can't stop listening to Over by Drake. I know he regrets using that pause style that everyone else glommed on to, but the way Drake is riiight on the edge of being off the beat is pretty awesome. Also, love the beat itself, super low, good thump. And I like that it takes 45 seconds or so before the vocal assault.

I've decided that, though still new to Drake, I can tolerate him but I don't rate him like I rate Wayne. I don't like most of what I have heard, but everyone says go get the early mixtapes. Whelp. I don't know how to do that but maybe I will.

I've read that this Over song wasn't received very well by the hip hop community in general and I don't understand it. People say it was kind of shoved out there. I don't get that feeling.

Opeth - Patterns in the Ivy I & II

yes, they're are TWO songs, but the link I posted has both of them in a single file... and they sound so nice together.

Beautiful songs, relaxing, contemplative... they remind me of autumn and winter, the dead leaves falling from the trees and the sound of raindrops falling on concrete, dark clouds and the fog...

Lately it's been Rosetta Stoned, from Tool's 10,000 Days. Youtube version, with a nip and tuck at the end to make it fit in the 10 minute limit. I love the sound, the structure and how it's utterly hilarious. Been on repeat commuting to work this week.

That song is kinda old (~10 months or so here in NY), but I liked it mostly because Eminem's verse OWNS the entire song. I don't think his verse is on the original track, but find the version with his verse in it - he completely steals the show. His verse is so much better than Kanye/Weezy/Drake's imo - his flow just goes so well with the beat.

Well, you know, I didn't know this remix existed. I like it.
I love the beat, love it. But I loathe Eminem so much that it's hard for me to get past those feelings, his occasionally dreadful & hateful lyrics, inattention to the beat, I just have never appreciated him at all. Cinderella Man is probably the best Eminem song I've heard.

Despite myself, I like Eminem's verse, love Wayne's verse, but I still think Drake's first verse in the original is just deadly. Not sure if I can rate Drake over Wayne long term though on any level. Thanks for telling me about the remix. I know the song is old-ish, but my renewed interest in rap is not. So I'm hearing all this stuff for the first time, saying mostly, "Wow. Rap is good again."

Joanna Newsom - Colleen

Despite being my favorite recording artist, I really only usually listen to the albums, or the early EPs because they're of a substantial length. This track is the first of the Ys Street EP, which is three songs, two of which are band arrangements of songs on the first two albums, so I don't really listen to it much, but lately I've been listening to this track a lot.

The Raveonettes - I Wanna Be Adored (Stone Roses Cover)

VIDEO

I've been hearing this song at the gym a lot lately; a catchy oldskool house track with a smooth MC. I remembered some of the lyrics and Googled it today: Tony Scott - Get Into It
Reminds me why the early 90's were so awesome. Found out the guy is actually from my country too.
