I can't believe there are people here who are actually considering playing/buying this the same week Halo: Reach comes out.

:lol

Reminds me of the fools who bought and played Tetris Splash the same week Halo 3 came out.

When Halo Reach comes out I'm quitting my job, and moving to the desert. I'll get food deliveries, and piss in a jug right by the couch. 24/7 HALO.

I'm pretty sure at this point, you can just pay the Offspring to perform inside of your living room while you play Crazy Taxi. They aren't doing anything else.

Feels like only yesterday when I played this game. I still have the entire SA series on both DC and GC. Hoping this comes to PSN. I was watching some gameplay of this the other day and the game itself has aged really well imo.

Yeah, I mean aside from the VA (which was awful even then), and the visuals (understandably! I mean it's been what, 11 years!?) I feel it's still worth a playthrough.

I'm still pretty bummed about the lack of widescreen support. Maybe it has to do with the CG-sequences...

Hope the version the was shown off months back was an early work in progress. I don't want 640x480 with boarders and bad upscaling :/

Looking back...Big the Cat's stages weren't that bad. In fact I thought it was pretty fun
You clearly are just blocking out the bad memories.

I will say though, if they try to piecemeal the game I will not be getting it unless they did some serious upgrades to it. They need to convince me that its worth it to pay them $10 rather then hook my Dreamcast up with the VGA Adaptor.

This one had the Chao gardens and stuff, right? Those were by far the best part of the Sonic Adventure games.

Yeah. This is the DX version, so the Chao Garden even has some extra shiz.

Tetris Splash killed Halo 3 for me.

I'm not even joking.

SA was a spectacular game back in 1999/2000. Emerald Coast alone destroyed every other game at the time especially considering this was a year before the PS2. The shame is that the game is nowhere near as tight as SA2 so without the graphical "wow" factor I doubt this is going to hold up on the 360 ten years later.

As for it being a port of DX. Well read this:

The game was released as an enhanced port of the original Sonic Adventure for the Dreamcast, with several additional features added. Sonic Adventure DX includes a Mission Mode, which included 60 missions to complete throughout the adventure fields and action stages. It also contains a minigame collection which comprises twelve Game Gear games featuring Sonic and friends. Also, if all Emblems are collected, then the player can play as Metal Sonic.

Sonic 2. Sonic Chaos. Sonic Triple Trouble!

Reviews were generally less positive than those of its Sega Dreamcast predecessor scoring more than 20% lower than the original release.

The fuck? Can someone tell me what the hell happened with DX that made it score lower. Logic dictates with those enhancements it should be a better game. Would love for Sega to port the DC releases I missed out on [Ecco the Dolphin].

Easy- people realised it was shit to begin with.

Sega: "Our dreamcast port of Sonic Adventure DX failed so we are cutting the port line short on xbla"

Reality: Released day after reach, shitty 640x480 stretched port with no widescreen, 30fps, no gamecube water effects because it's based on the pc version which was super gimped, sega bitch about bad sales...

You can spend 5 minutes editing the PC version to feature nearly all of that and it runs on an old computer too.

I don't care what anyone else thinks (shitty game, worst game of all time blah blah blah)- I'm buying this day one.

The only bad thing is: I'll have to take a break from playing Halo Reach, a day after it's released. :lol

Sadly the story mode is now the best thing about the original Sonic Adventure(oh and the Chao-raising)

This is the best summary of SA1's story.

:lol :lol :lol ROFL @ the lip syncing. :lol

I thought the badly done lips made for the japanese voices? even though they still didn't fit correctly it looked better then with the english stuff.

It's not that these games "haven't aged well" it's the fact that they were never good to begin with.

There's a reason why Adventure 2 was released less than a year later on the Gamecube and got panned.

The games were never good to begin with. It, along with many other games on the Dreamcast, were just caught up with the hype. It's the same with many other launch consoles. This is why many Dreamcast games that were praised as classics when they came out were re-released on the PS2/Gamecube/Xbox only to be panned. It's the same with the PSP's first two year releases of "great games" when in reality many of them were simply mediocre console ports.

Ironically it's usually the underdog that gets that's the most overhyped.

What happened was simply being Sonic in 3D wasn't impressive five years later. It aged very, very badly.

will try demo first to see if it is the correct DC version or the incorrect GC version
Paaaay attentioooonnnn

EDIT: Just watched that snooze cruise video and now I want to go back and play it again just for the voices. :P Some parts are even better in Japanese.

If buying this guaranteed that I would get a nice HD port of Shenmue I and II, I'd probably buy it (and Crazy Taxi as well), but realistically I know they prob won’t bring the Senmues to XBLA, and even if they did they'd probably find a way to cripple them in some capacity...

They can't even HD sonic adventure and you want them to do it with the Shenmue series? lolz.

From the moment Sonic says "This is HAPPENING" in the intro, I realised I hated the annoying green-eyed bastard. Why the hell did they introduce voice acting? WHHYY?

The game had some pluses: Sonic's levels were reasonably thrilling in a rollercoaster kind of way, the non-vocal parts of the (Final Egg 2!) soundtrack were very nice and some of the graphics were great at the time.

Unfortunately, the bad drastically outweighs the good. Emerald hunts, purile (and utterly unneeded) story, repugnant voice acting, pointless fetch quests and generally as glitchy as heck.

Still as a bit of history its interesting to play.

Regarding Sega's re-releases, can someone please poke them on Facebook or something, and remind them the Sega Saturn existed?

Shining the Holy Ark, NiGHTS, Guardian Heroes, Saturn Bomberman, Baku Baku Animal, Dark Saviour, Shining Wisdom, Fighters Megamix and Panzer Dragoon Saga need to be released five minutes ago.

The only thing I really loved about SA was the inclusion of Adventure Fields. I don't know why. I guess it may in part be due to nostalgia, as the DC was my first 3D system and SA my first 3D game, but I loved exploring the area, looking for interesting items and secrets (Which were largely absent). I was so pissed when there weren't any in SA2.

Big shock, after months of being quiet on it they still haven't fixed the simple shit. The game isn't even a proper 4:3, there's a border around the whole thing.

Gamers will be able to experience the original groundbreaking Dreamcast adventure — redone in HD – on Xbox Live Arcade for the low price of 800 Microsoft Points.

I really wish there was some way they could get called on this sort of thing. What's been redone? Some menus were redrawn for the XBLA interface. But probably 95% of the texture and polygon work is untouched, and that's being generous. The game doesn't really run at an HD resolution, or even full-screen. So what's "redone in HD" count as?

Don't count on extra Game Gear games to be included. They'd be ridiculously easy to hack out, and that sort of thing was only compilation fodder back then, but great Virtual Console fodder now.

Sonic Adventure was a great game when it was released.
I'm not sure it held well after more than 10 years :(

I'll try the trial version on XBLA before buying.

Nah, Sonic 2006 is one of the worst games of all time. Sonic Adventure was a decent, but flawed game which made people wonder if Sega could refine the 3D formula for a Sonic game and create something memorable the next time around.

G0523 said:
It was in 16:9 too! And Sega/Sonic Team couldn't do THAT for Sonic?!
Look, I'm just glad they're not using Backbone for this. They'd add some stupid new menu screen that prevents you from playing as Super Sonic or something.

The game has aged so badly. Not worth it.

I loved the game back in the day, but it's very difficult to enjoy now.

Hell, it aged badly in 2003 when the Gamecube version came out. I wonder if I still have my copy...

GOT TO FOLLOW MY RAINBOW!

I WANNA FLY HIGH!

I remember a time I couldn't get "WHAT - I'M - MADE - OF" from Sonic Heroes out of my head... Oh damn.

Instead of them making the cube version 60fps with it dropping to 20 most of the time they should have locked it solid at 30 and given the stage textures a bump up, I think they were the same textures from the DC version, cube could do better.

Has anyone made a Saturn Emulator that isn't shit? Sega has yet to figure out just where the hell they put the source code to Panzer Dragoon Saga. Most likely was stolen by some master video game thief who also stole the original Bubble Bobble Source code.

Especially the way it's been 'ported'.
I hope they have fixed it up since the last time it was seen, I WANT TO BELIEVE ;-;

Hey, at the very least this has gotta be better than the Sonic GBA port.

I mean, you'd think.
