Isn't the 3DS design the same as this? This is the new, current Pac-Man design...
He looks much less creepy without teeth and eyelids. And fingers.
And actually it's from Pac-Man Party, but all the same:
Think of it as the reverse of 2006 Sonic to current Sonic.

nobody really cared about those games since the first was a shoddy port and the second was just crap. snake is really more of a msx/sony icon than anything else. simon or goemon are much better konami reps. simon is pretty much a perfect fit as his moveset, stage possibilities, and music are just begging to be made into a smash character.

I want Snake in Smash Bros. 4 on the grounds that his inclusion means we might get music from Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance in the game.

Bug Kamiya about it and hit 3 of his nerves at once.
If they didn't accentuate his limbs he would have smaller reach with his attacks due to his proportions.

Oh, NOW I realize why Sonic looked weird in the Smash Bros WiiU reveal - he's got side mouth! Brawl Sonic didn't. Awesome!
That's one thing, but his texture and model are SO much better this time around. His hands don't look like a bunch of socks with meat thrown in them this time.

GHZ (and all the music composed for Sonic 1 and 2) is in a strange place as far as licensing goes, so you shouldn't go expecting grand rearrangements of it outside of big Sonic games.

It would be awesome if we got Pac-Man, Sonic, Snake and Mega Man for SSB4. It would be awesome if we get Bomberman but I seriously doubt that we will.
They used the Sonic Heroes (heroes...heroes...) because the stuff from Sonic 1 at the very least is still in legal limbo (I think), with Dreams Come True. I remember reading that the only way that they can use most of the tracks in another game is from a direct recording. I'm most likely remembering wrong though, so MobiusGAF/SouthIslandGAF can probably fill in the details. EDIT: Espio'd. Look above.
Why heroes though? Sega is now constantly using Seaside Hill as a modern Green Hill in other games (All-Stars Racing/Transformed, Generations, Superstars Tennis) and most likely hasn't gotten the OK for Lost World's theme to be used in other games yet.
As I said in the original direct thread, If this game could somehow have Crash and Bonk, then we can finally re-enact the console wars in game form.
(If not, then I'll gladly take Bomberman and Goemon, or Rayman and Pacman.)

They're good stuff these days, have been for a while.
Sonic 3's sort of up in the air too with regards to the Jackson tracks. Sega staff won't talk about it except for Senoue saying that there's no chance of a soundtrack release, and Jackson's sound team won't talk about it either except to say that there's still legal concerns up in the air. I can't think of any instance where the known/suspected MJ tracks have been reused offhand, Drossin's S3&K album didn't actually have any Sonic 3 music, and the one time they had to rearrange the whole soundtrack for S&K Collection, they were all replaced. Odds are Sega can't touch them.
And then there's the problem with the rights to CD's vocals being held separately from the rest of the music.
Small wonder that Sega stopped working with superstars.

The colors are also much better for every character this time. In Brawl, they went for a more "realistic" look, but I think this suits the franchise better.

I kind of understand what you mean. It does look like a up-ressed Brawl, but I don't mind.

The lighting is one of the best things about the graphics, they should fix up the models by upping the polygons and textures, Mario & Sonic Sochi have AMAZING models.

Impressive. Great news, Smash Brothers is looking impressive. Now I wonder if we'll see either Captain Falcon, Ness, Wario, or Bomberman next.
Honestly, while I love playing as Snake in Brawl, the reason why he got in is simply because Kojima wanted him in, nothing more. Having a couple of metal gear games on nintendo systems are just people's way to validate his inclusion, even though his significance and relation to Nintendo is so tiny compared to the other blue guests.
It doesn't really matter to me though, because at the end of the day, they are just guests from other game companies. While I am in the camp that wants him to return, I would not be surprised if he gets the boot
I'd rather Konami toss Simon Belmont our way.
Hell, I'd take any Belmont over Snake. The Castlevania franchise has been much more prominent in Nintendo's past than Metal Gear.

was the one that made me laugh the most when that big imgur album of these went around.
One thing I've noticed is that all we've seen from Sonic's trailer is down tilt, up tilt, back aerial, up aerial and side, up and down special. I wonder if his other normals are being changed? I can see not wanting to show specials but we didn't even get to see his standard jab combo.
