Another game made into open world...
Glad to see Sonic, but this already feels empty and pointless.

I do too, there did seem to be some nice levels in that broken mess of a game and engineI secretely wish about a Sonic 06 remaster that fixes all the problems and turns it into the decent Sonic Adventure 3 it could have been.
I mean, I'll give you some credit for putting down Forces where it's due, but saying that about Colors Ultimate sounds like a repeat of Rise of Lyric all over again; Excusing it because it "technically wasn't Sonic Team", as if Sonic Team is some shining beacon that does no wrong in the first place, even though they made both 06 and Forces. Does that seriously NOT ring any alarm bells? You might deny the Sonic cycle, but at the very least there are SOME patterns here. The only bad Sonic Team game from 10 years ago was Forces. (Lost World was fine as it's own thing) Colors Ultimate was outsourced to another studio, so was Boom.
So you point to a period where in 15 years we had 4 mainline games (Ultimate - Colors - Generations - Forces) , with 1 of those games being subpar, one other notable Sonic release being controversial (Lost World) and another being an absolute dud (Rise of Lyric) and point to that as saying they've been "decent to good"?And that post reads like the usual Sonic trolling. Most of the 3D modern Sonic games made after 06 have been decent to good and to bring up an HD remaster is just lame. Not that Sonic Colors remake was even that bad, but there again I played it on the Series X.
That's only your opinion, not some kind of absolute truth.3 "Decent to good" games in a span of 15 years is ABYSMAL
You missed out on Sonic Unleashed but hey never mind, and Rise of Lyric wasn't even made by the Sonic Team. Its pointless to debate with you, but I liked the Sonic Boost gameplay and enjoyed most of the modern Sonic Team 3D games myself. So you point to a period where in 15 years we had 4 mainline games (Ultimate - Colors - Generations - Forces) , with 1 of those games being subpar, one other notable Sonic release being controversial (Lost World) and another being an absolute dud (Rise of Lyric) and point to that as saying they've been "decent to good"?
Forces.Like I said before, people are too pessimistic on Sonic.
Like I said before, people are too pessimistic on Sonic. Mario is able to attempt many different genre's and noone bats an eye. Just because a genre is everywhere doesn't make it bad either, Sonic's speed lands perfectly in an Open World setting. Ironically people being so cynical and pessimistic are only enforcing the Sonic Cycle.because the Sonic Cycle everyone knows isn't even a thing. Sonic haters will obviously say the game sucks before we even got some gameplay (panning shots aren't gameplay) and Sonic fans are more cautious than everyone thinks.
That's always the way. The ones with the most of say on COD or Sonic games, usually are the ones who don't buy them. I do wonder how good Sonic 06 would have been, if it was actually finished and not broken
Lost World ... mainline Sonic game from Sonic Team.
So is this meant to be taken as '"Oh, but what I say after this is absolute fact"? Or more like "How dare you have an opinion on a forum! Just shut up and consume product."?That's only your opinion, not some kind of absolute truth.
I'm not the biggest fans of Sonic's steering in boost, but I can see the merits of the arcade-like gameplay loop in general; Even as bad as Forces was, it didn't fundamentally break Boost the same way 06 broke the Adventure style. Unleashed had half of a solid game , Colors had neat 3D segments as well and would had been nice on better hardware (except for when they tried to put it on better hardware and somehow screwed it up), and Generations was one of the few games Sonic Team put out in all these years I wouldn't complain about. If things were incremental improvements from Generations from here on out, I probably wouldn't be so sour on Sonic. You missed out on Sonic Unleashed but hey never mind, and Rise of Lyric wasn't even made by the Sonic Team. I also remember the days when Nintendo made the best 2D Metroid games In-House, I miss them and I remember the days when Nintendo could churn out a number of In-House games a year, much like Lucasarts. Those days are gone and in the age of Big teams and 2 to 3 years development cycles one can't churn out games like they used, not even Star Wars games and there were plenty of bad Star Wars games before you look to hit on EA, not that I found the EA ones to be bad at all.

Hurt? I just love how the people with the most to say on Sonic are usually the ones who don't buy the games, much like with COD games. Sonic 06 was bad and I didn't think much of Sonic Adv 2. I've enjoyed the other main Sonic Team 3D outings mindAnd the most crazy ones are also the ones who got their feeling hurts about commentaries about Sonic and yet proceeds to mentions Sonic 06 as if it has any kind salvation or potential.

While there is some general truth to games taking longer and requiring bigger teams to develop, Nintendo and EA's gaps between specific notable IPs they work on are usually filled in by, well, other specific notable IP they work on (Switch got a new Mario, soon to be two new Zeldas, soon to be two new Splatoons, a new Animal Crossing, etc. up to the point where their library looks par for their pace of releases outside the lack of more niche franchises like F-Zero). Now, Sega as a whole has a few projects like Yakuza, Virtua Fighter, and Sakura Taisen over the past few years, but Sonic Team in particular? They mostly just do Puyo Puyo now, and that's a low-budget affair. Even EA DICE managed to put out two Star Wars Battlefront games in the time it took for Sonic Team to make Sonic Forces.

Mario did it with Browser's Fury and it was pretty good. Something like Sonic Robo Blast or Sonic Utopia would be a good point to start.Another game made into open world...

They never do follow-ups and that's perfectly fine. Completely unrelated to being good or bad.If Lost World was so good, maybe Sonic Team should've made a followup
What's this ? Are there several persons in your head or something ? I don't have a clue what you are talking about."Lost World is not a mainline Sonic game because it's experimental; Stop using it an example of Sonic Team screwing up."
"So there was a 6 year gap between mainline Sonic games going from Generations to Forces..."
"No, no, Lost World is a mainline game! Don't forget that!"
Yeah, I think we all got that don't worry.Because either way, that's not exactly gonna pump me up for a 3D Sonic.
I believe this is what the franchise needed all along. Sonic in *BIG* environments, not just narrow corridors. Shame they have to scale it down to Switch.
Whats next? Sonic Souls Roguelite Metroidvania?
I don't think The Kirby Of Us is open world at all, but it sure looks great.Sonic and Kirby both getting open world games. Truly we live in amazing times.
He already hit Super Saiyan a while ago as well.I remember reading one of the rumors was that Sonic will be able to kick and punch. Sonic as a character is so powerful, quick and acrobatic so on paper Sonic combat could be incredible.
I imagine he would be doing a lot of dodging and darting in and out to attack his enemies. Maybe he gets an accessory where he can block and parry. It would be sick if you could charge up a super attack while blocking enemy attacks then unleash it and watch enemies get hit so hard they go flying. Sonic super attacks based on momentum should feel weighty and powerful.
Unleashed is my favorite modern Sonic game. It was a sight to behold honestly, when they unveiled it. The engine was incredible, and the game was a lot of fun with fantastic level-design.The day levels in Unleashed were fantastic. I earned a platinum in that game, was tons of fun. Night levels were okay but not horrible
I'd say it looks more akin to BoTW.Sonic of the Colossus looks nice
I only watched it once, but I thought there was a giant rock colossus at some point.I'd say it looks more akin to BoTW.
Why would you say it looks like SoTC, though?
Yes Mums , I forget the internet tells you so, . I actually found Sonic DS far better to Mania, but still what do I know. I just happen to buy and play the games, unlike mumTheres nothing to be hurt kid, you could use a better tatic. And not buying bad Sonic games is just people not being dumb(if you like, thats on you I'm afraid). Mania is a great game but far from anything Sonic Team or even Sega could ever do alone, Taxman and his team are to praise. Instead we have recent cases like Boom and Forces, and people pretending once again they never existed. Well, that and using COD is brain damaging moment if you ask me.

idk, Shinobi is a very different game, hell I'd argue every traditional platformer is a very different game than to what Sonic is. Sonic is it's own thing, just like how Smash was it's own thing from any other fighting game.I liked Revenge of Shinobi and Quackshot far more to any of the Sonic Mega Drive bar Sonic CD (which was rather good) Sonic Adv was ace, but Sonic Adv 2 was such a letdown and disappointment. I've liked most of the 3D games and thought Sonic Gen was stunning. Sonic Forces was a step back but wasn't that bad (just its levels were too short). Looking forward to this, but kind of wished it was coming out at the same time as the film and also hoped to see more gameplay after 4 years of development
You can't judge games if you haven't played them. It only proves the point that you only hate Sonic because it's cool.
Not Sonic Team, that was another studio. They patched it anyways. The past tell otherwise. Not even a god damn fucking remaster they do right.
