Sonic Lost World Wii U "60fps" footage

Slow ... :( Give us Sonic Adventure 3 please!

Yes, another installment of where the series basically went awry. Please Sega, another one of those, don't actually try to make Sonic work in a 3D environment. More talking and Big The Cat sections will take Sanic to the next level.

Was Sonic's motion smooth? Do controls touch Mario's fluidity and smoothness?

mario was easier to control, but i've always found mario easier to control. part of what made sonic fun for me, going back to the genesis, was the feeling of almost not being in control (like you're holding it back a little). there are way more saving graces in this game with being able to grab ledges and the double jump (which was in colors too). it helps with a slightly floatier character.

What did you think about the difficulty?

it was decent. first level was the first or second actual level in the game. i was surprised to find a path that took me off the area that was off in the horizon to some hidden islands above. one of my concerns with the level design was that it would be super linear.

i didn't play the 2d level yet, but there is a harder level where all you do is run forward, and i did die a couple of times (just splat right against a wall). i was going for the best path though.

60fps confirmation is great and all, but that footage was not 60fps and therefore your thread title is misleading, is what I'm trying to say. I came here expecting gamersyde footage.

Yes, the youtube video is not 60fps footage, but there are two ways of converting 60fps footage to 30fps: drop every other frame or blend frames together. If you upload 60fps video to youtube it will simply drop frames but if you convert yourself before uploading you can use blending, which adds a 2-frame motion blur if the source material is truly 60fps.

There are several videos on youtube of 60fps games both new and old (mostly off-screen videos) where it's possible to notice this effect and notice the additional smoothness caused by the motion blur. It's not as impacting as a true 60fps video, but it's noticeable.

How floaty is it? In comparison to Sonic Colors? I loved Colors, but controls really held back the game.

If somebody had told me 2 weeks ago, that i would be more hyped for the new Sonic game than the 3D Mario one, I would have laughed so hard I'd have fainted after a while.

This looks good actually. Just do some more lighting and post fx, and we got a deal, Sega (if I don't sell my Wii U before that, which looks likely at the moment).

really liked what i played today. i had concerns over the running mechanic, but it worked out well. only thing that didn't pan out was the one wisp power i tried to activate. i had to flick the screen to get it to work and instead it redrew my path and then shot sonic off. thanks gamepad.

actually, it's my favorite game of e3 so far.

How is the speed, compared to other Sonic games, if you know some? Closer to Unleashed or closer to Adventure?

EDIT: Oh and are rankings missing from the E3 demo, too? That's a huge bummer in the introductory video for me actually.

better? it's been a while since i played colors. i might have a better idea tomorrow if i play the 2d section

it's one of the slower sonic games i've played. definitely not like unleashed. i guess it's closer to adventure, but that one seemed to have faster segments too.

as far as the rankings go... i forget. fairly certain the 3ds game had them (i recall getting an 'a' in one of the demos today and i can't think of anything else that would qualify).

Yeah thank you, the A in the 3DS version is the kind of rankings I'm talking about :). Sad to hear that it's so slow, but since Nintendo doesn't want to use the concept anymore, I'm fine with a Sonic Galaxy anyway ^^.

Can we stop pretending that this looks like a good game? I guess one eye is king in the lanf of the blind.

Old Sonic fan and loving All stars racing, but Sonic 3D platformers are just not working. Let's call it a day.

how about playing it before making uninformed posts?

Have you played it then? What's making you say this?

I honestly think it looks better than Super Mario 3D World.
Not that difficult.

By the way, I don't have to play every game just to see if something looks good or not. Especially with the 3D Sonic record.
If I couldn't I would be bankrupt because I had to buy every game, just to see if it was any good.

Besides a few of the character levels in SA1 and 2 that were pretty bad, the Sonic/Shadow levels were spectacular.

SA2 was one of my favorite games on the GC.

I was super excited by the first trailer, but the gameplay demo on GTTV was pretty bad for me. The guy worded it's exclusively very strangely actually, almost made it sound like a timed exclusive, which would really surprise me.

That you can look at a trailer and see if the game is going to be good or not in general. And this just doesn't look like it's better than Generations for instance, which was probably the best Sonic game in 3D and still pretty bad aside grom the 2D parts.

Right. So people are looking at this game and its demos and the majority thinks it looks pretty good, and suddenly they're "pretending"? Please.

And I'm sure you came to this conclusion from some videos right? Also, bankrupt? Demos are a thing.

It looks like they've found a pretty nice balance between speed and exploration, something that hasn't really happened with this series in a long time. Cautiously optimistic, ripping ideas from Mario Galaxy is far from the worst thing Sonic Team could do.

I thought it couldn't get any better than Sonic Generations + Unleashed mod, but this combined with the new Mario for Christmas will be amazing. Really looking forward to it.

Too bad those levels made up less than a third of the game. If two thirds of a game is shit then the other third being good doesn't mean much. I agree the Sonic/Shadow levels were pretty good for the most part. I wouldn't say spectacular, but for the most part they were solid. But both SA games are full of soooooo much bullshit that I can't honestly say those games were anything above mediocre overall.

This looks fucking great. It just looks like a joy to play. My inner sonic fan from my Genesis days is starting to wake up.
