The 2 days battery life thing is if the phone is idle right? I use my smartphone for web browsing a lot, what's the average battery life for constant web browsing in smartphones?

no... 2 days is supposed to be realistic usage time... Z2 already had crazy battery times, and this apparently gets 40-45% longer time in official specs.

According to GSM Arena tests, Z2 can browse web for 11:32 hours (2hrs longer than S5)... My Moto G is rated 2 hrs less and I consider it to get kick ass run time, crazy even.

So if Z3 is 40% better than that.................
 
Looks like Sony Canada has confirmed the Z3, Z3c and Z3cT will be coming to Canada "later this year". No word on carrier availability yet:

I do hope they make their devices available on all carriers instead of some of the past madness they've done like make the Xperia Z Ultra exclusive to Bell. I've got some friends looking to upgrade soon and these would be perfect phones for 'em.
 
The Z3 is making me rethink an Iphone 6 atm. The Playstation integration is a total selling point. It's about time Sony leverages Playstation in a meaningful way.

Sony is making the best non nexus android smartphones and tablets overall imo. The most tasteful skins, overall most sophisticated design language in the bodies, and performance wise, snappy. I hope they start to gain ground. Z3 needs to be on all carriers, not just on shit tier ones like T-Mo
 
Ahh, Z3 looks so nice, but I am worried that Sony will announce a new flagship within 6 months. I think I can keep holding for one more revision. ;_;
 
Damn, this Z3 sounds freaking amazing. Heck, and the PlayStation thing is really good. Would definitely connect my DS3 to the phone, much better than playing on the Vita.

Might wait until Z4 comes out to get it cheaper though. In my country, smartphone prices are freaking ridiculous.

they will for sure... and so will Samsung, LG, HTC and others.

So even if Sony waited for 12 months, then you would (legitimately) say that you want newer offering from Samsung, LG or HTC.

Z2 was on par with S5 and M8, while Z3 easily bests both of them in everything. So maybe changes are not enough to get people to upgrade from Z2, but thats not the point... point is continuous improvement vs current competition.

So now Sony has flagship thats better than S5 and M8 for the next 6 months.

from which country would be the best bet for me to acquire an xperia z3/c that will have LTE bands for AT&T?

Difference being that Samsung, HTC ect. only release one flagship 5inch phone per year. You could buy a s5 when it came out knowing the s6 wont be coming out 6 months later. Not the case with the Z2/Z3/Z4

There is no way the spec jump is there to justify Sony releasing a new phone this soon after the z2 came out...no QHD screen, no 805 processor
 
Why no s805 and higher res screen. I know it doesn't matter on 5 inch phone but isn't top end android mostly spec war
 
Any good sites which have a comparison between z2 , z3 , z3 compact. And which have a list of all the features and specs and stuff?

The Z3 is more of an optimization iteration between software and hardware rather than something that targets the latest specs. If the reports about 40-45% battery life improvement and camera improvements are true then the release is quite justified. They wouldn't have achieved anything by targeting a QHD display with 805 processor. Both these are in their infancy right now and there is no point in including them in a phone. They'd be better of releasing a QHD phone next year with the SD 810.

If you know that it doesn't matter then why encourage it? I want to take it as a sign that sony knows that it doesn't matter but I'm sure they will join the 1440p spec war silliness next year too. I want a focus on battery life and performance. 1080p is 100℅ all we need, full stop, unless the phone is being used for VR in which case super high res screens are necessary.
 
The Xperia design is bordering on boring after the 4 iterations (Z, Z1, Z2, and now Z3), however, they keep refining it to a point where it never becomes stale.

In any case, the specs are pretty much standard fare for every other Android flagship this year- let's see just how far the audio, video, camera, and battery performance goes.

I have z2 but most of fb friends was saying this that they dont want old speced phone etc

Nope only in auto mode. for Manual yo0u can use full resolution. * mp shots are better because phone downsamples them

I still dont get it - do you get insulted when new version of phone you own comes out?
Because thats what it seems to be happening.

So you think that Samsung S5 users are happier because there isnt S6...even if Z3 is better than S5 in every way and is here, now?

As to QHD - thank god. G3 has awful battery life. I would never buy G3 because it has QHD screen.

Z3 has 40% better ppi than Iphone 5s retina display.
 
My Verizon contract is up at the end of October. Possible this hits T-Mobile prior to then? The PlayStation integration is a complete selling point for me, especially because I'm sick of iPhones at this point.

Given HTC have failed to bring out a flagship 4.5-4.7 inch phone recently, I'm quite possibly jumping ship to the Z3 Compact.

What's everyone's take on screen resolution? I'm looking at my HTC one x and struggling to see how it can really get any sharper. Is this me being ignorant at 400+ppi screens or are these super high res screens pointless, especially given viewing distances and the compromise to battery life?
 
Do any of the international Sony stores have any accessories listed for the Z3C to pre-order?

The UK has a case for the Z3, but not one for the Z3C. That can't be right, surely.

I am a spec whore and i have played with the LG G3 and S5 LTE-A(1080p SD805)

I would say qhd at 5.5" is pointless and drags down the performance and battery life atm.

SD801 is plenty fast with the modern iteration of Android, unless you demand the best in 3D games.

Thus said, 720p is more than enough, enjoy the zippy performance and good battery life from Z3C.

indeed... my carrier has great offer on G3 and I skipped because of the poor battery life due to QHD screen... Lets see if Note 4 has the same problem.

G3 having about half of the battery life on Z2 is really, really, really poor decision on the LG's part, and I dont think they are selling nearly as well as G2 was.
 
Yeah here G3 is selling slightly cheaper than Z2! And Z2 is much cheaper than S5 and m8!

Gotta love LG aggressive pricing

, but i still wont touch the SD801 G3 with a longest pole. The perf and batt is just disappointing and reminds me of pre-Android 4.0 days. My friends owns a G2 and i would say it is much better.

Z3C is a very big usability improvement of Z1C afaics. Sony need to advertise the hell out of it. 720p for 4.6" is perfectly usable!
 
Presumably the Z3 will work with Metropcs since they merged with T-Mobile. Hopefully the price isn't too high since Metropcs is forcing me to upgrade my phone due to the merger. The battery life sounds great since my current phone battery sucks.

Wait what? There is no way thr G3 has half the battery life of the Z2. My G3 battery is amazing.

Dont know exactly but my dads g3 lasts less than my z2 even tough my dad only use for calls amd occasional youtube where i use ot for games facebook email web
