Nearly full NA carrier support would be a giant step up for them, hopefully it's true. I'd rather not see Xperia phones die :|

Z3 available on SoftBank in Japan. First time for Sony. Bodes well for Sprint to be announced on the 9th along with T-Mobile and VZW.

So I guess things have changed since because it seemed like you were pretty confident that none of this would probably happen, lol. I hope it does for Sony's sake because their management clearly blows.

Sony on Softbank was strongly hinted at since late Aug. No question Sony has fucked up management but I always thought there'd be a good chance at seeing increased carrier support this go around, like in Canada now. Anyways, we'll see.

so that leaves AT&T out of the major US carriers? I noticed they launched Z3 on all carriers in Canada, which is also a first.

There is a model fully compatible with at&t's bandwidths, so can't rule them out yet. I'm just hoping they'll offer the phone... I guess we'll find out tomorrow.

Man, this remote play stuff is cool as hell, but there is no freaking way it works.... right? I mean.....right? I know it works on the Vita, but on a phone?

The specs are roughly the same, I think, between the Z3 and Vita. Probably better specs on the Z3. Still, I'm hoping they name-drop AT&T somewhere here...........

That abomination of a logo in the top part of the phone.

Verizon gonna Verizon.

Too bad there was no mention of the Compact, but I didn't expect any. Now the real question is about that remote play functaionality. Almost everyone talking about has has said "on the same Wi-Fi network" as opposed to the Vita where we've got BruceLeeRoy playing Destiny from his office across town. Is the wording deliberate? Probably.

Yeah, that's rather concerning. Vita is ANY Wi-fi, why would this be same Wi-fi as console is on?

Today in New York City, Sony officially announced its flagship smartphone, the Xperia Z3, for the U.S. market exclusively on Verizon under the Z3v name. The Z3v marks Sony's latest effort to break into the U.S. in a meaningful way, with availability from Verizon starting October 23rd.

So... didn't T-Mobile say they were getting this phone? What the hell is going on here?

I was going to import the Z3C but wanted to wait for this presentation to see what's going on. What a waste. I want T-moblie and I want it unlocked.

It's the Z3v. That little V is the only thing making it "exclusive". T-Moblie will probably get it's own letter or just the original phone.

That's tricky wording, but basically it sounds like the "Z3v" name is exclusive to Verizon, only (obviously). For this kind of attention, Verizon must've paid quite a bit more than T-Mobile did. but agreed, this is quite odd. AT&T announcement next, please! I don't wanna switch to Verizon...
Thanks guys! I did wonder if that little "v" was significant enough to separate the Verizon phone from the others but I really didn't entertain the idea because that seems really silly. I guess it is enough though.

Edit: Yeah, I'm just dumb. This was posted 2 days ago.

Sony confirms 32GB storage for T-Mobile Z3

Also, T-Mobile's senior product official, Des, seems to think it'll be coming out within weeks, not months as per this tweet.

I'm really holding on to the hope that there will be a Sprint version of this thing. I don't want to give up my 25% discount to switch to T-Mobile. $73 a month, with tax, is too good to give up. :(

Then again Sprint could end up making me use their new plans and somehow invalidating my discount. They did end up getting rid of my current plan.
