Sony details the Vita's PSP compatibility--filtering, sticks, camera

I'm willing to bet it's just an update to the existing media go app that psp uses.
I've never used that program, but the best thing about it was that it was optional. Hopefully Vita runs the same way.

Fantastic.

Really great effort for BC.
Shame they took it out of PS3.

im sure the same thing will happen to the vita 2.0 so they can produce PSP HD ports to the vita and screw over people who just want BC.

I was on the fence about Vita

but this PSP UMD passport program made be the catalyst for getting me to buy a VITA

I hope you realize what the passport program really is. It doesn't allow you to just register a UMD and download the game for free off PSN. It simply allows people who already have a UMD to get a discount when they buy the same game on PSN, and it only works on -selected titles-. It's not as good as it sounds.

I hope all of this comes true for the Vita in the US, especially the UMD part: I have nearly 60 PSP games on UMD, and I would love to have many of them work on the Vita.

Besides, isn't this a smart move for Sony b/c it'll help them sell a sh*t-ton of their proprietary, over-priced Memory Sticks?
