No, I don't think so. I'm pretty sure most of the data that is being leaked is related to some employees.
How anyone can trust their data onto Sony is beyond me at this point.
Note: That is the only report so far which brought up the connection. North Korea denied the attack. Normally they claimed responsibility for bragging rights.
Is there even something they could have done though? You'd really think Sony'd of tightened the hatches on the ship after the last time. Maybe they've been partying too hard ahead of the PSX event.
Very private data. The hack is multiple times worse than 2011, but not for the customer.
What do you mean "trust their data"?How anyone can trust their data onto Sony is beyond me at this point.

No state claims responsibility for bragging rights...... you deny till the end of time whether evidence is presented against your or not.
What do you mean "trust their data"?
There is no security breach here as far as we know. No personal info has been revealed.
It is now apparent that a large amount of confidential Sony Pictures Entertainment data has been stolen by the cyber attackers, including personnel information and business documents. This is the result of a brazen attack on our company, our employees and our business partners. This theft of Sony materials and the release of employee and other information are malicious criminal acts, and we are working closely with law enforcement.
The privacy and security of our employees are of real concern to us, and we are deeply saddened at this concerted effort to do damage to our company, undermine our morale, and discourage us. We are enormously proud of the resilience you have all shown in the face of this attack. The company is as busy as ever, and our business continues to move forward, thanks to your great efforts.
Oh, I guess that makes it ok.Guys.
North Korea didn't actually DO the hack.
They just asked the Chinese. Duh.

Erm, wrong. North Korea did, but not for this. The hacker group Guardians of Peace did, which seems the far more likely scenario.
Lol why in the hell would you believe North Korea.
Not even a cpl days ago they blamed the U.S. for the Ebola virus

This is one of the biggest hacks in history. NK doesn't have the capabilities for that, but till now, they loved to claim responsibility.

'Sony-pocalypse': Why the Sony hack is one of the worst hacks ever
We have heard that Sony Pictures was hacked, and basically shut down recently.
One ting that seemed odd was this part of the linked article...
"All of this is getting posted publicly in huge batches of computer files on sites like Pastebin.com and illegal file-sharing websites. Security researcher Dan Tentler has found that the files are being shared using computer servers owned by Sony's PlayStation Network -- adding insult to injury."
Wait, Sony's PSN network? That is alarming to say the least. Does that mean there are open torrents or other items running on the same server infrastructure we are gaming on with our playstations?
Wouldn't be new to Sony... pirates have been downloading PSN games directly from Sony's servers for a long time.
It is about likeliness. This is one of the biggest hacks in history. NK doesn't have the capabilities for that, but till now, they loved to claim responsibility. They denied responsibility. The connection was brought by one single report. On top of that, we have one hacker group claiming responsibility. Lets say NK is unlikely.
I don't understand how Sony has Naughty Dog and SN Systems at their disposal, yet can't figure out how to secure PSN servers.
Is game programming and tools programming that much different from server programming, or is this just how Sony does things when it isn't manufacturing televisions and walkman disc players anymore?

*tsk* *tsk*
Sony really needs to beef things up.

Are you an expert in IT? Or your just posting because? You do know what servers are for right?
Really...tell us more.

.
at some point you will realize that spe and sne are not same companies/
With the severity of this I'm starting to think this was an inside job.
This is Sony Pictures, not Sony Entertainment Network/PSN. And of course, Amazon cloud, not "Sony network" really.
How anyone can trust their data onto Sony is beyond me at this point.
Are we looking at another 2011 style hack again with personal information getting out there?
At this point I'd consider Sony criminally negligent regarding their lack of security. Who on earth would trust them with their personal info anymore?
I'm talking about PSN.How the fuck do you think they managed to get all this info and release a couple movies that haven't hit theaters yet if there wasn't a security breach - even if that was just someone walking out with it all on a HDD.
You would think so. I am sure they made adjustments and consulted experts before, but at this point it needs to become a paramount priority. This will be the catalyst for them to finally, truly get their shift together.
What do you know about Sonys security measures? Just because they got hacked it doesn't mean they are incompetent. We don't know how skilled the hackers are or if it's an inside job. Stop blaming the victim. At this point I'd consider Sony criminally negligent regarding their lack of security. Who on earth would trust them with their personal info anymore?

Even Homeland Security is involved and it seems like this is the most devastating hack ever directed at a company on US soil.
If N. Korea really is behind this then they need to learn to take a joke. The movie is a comedy. It's supposed to be funny. It's not an act of war.
Didn't they also deny being responsible for hacking into South Korean banks and TV networks last time. I read that hack had similar code to what was used in this attack.Note: That is the only report so far which brought up the connection. North Korea denied the attack. Normally they claimed responsibility for bragging rights.

Uhh actually it does, you can't move or copy 100TB worth of data on any network that has any form of competent security without someone noticing. It is obvious they did not learn a thing and have not reformed their Security from the PSN hack.
So glad you know exactly what happened here. Can you tell us how Sony can improve their security since you're such an expert?Any component network should be setup to detect and alert when moving 100TB worth of data across it. Even if it was an inside job 100TB worth of data was copied through their network and no one at Sony noticed.
