Sony is advertising something in Japan

An interesting thing to notice is that, usually, when you do an advertising with little windows showing game footage, each of them shows a different game. Not here: we have two windows for Time Travellers, two for Hatsune, two for MGS. Hell. XD

I don't usually let my expectations get the better of me, but I was hoping they hired a famous entertainer to host Game Heaven, or whatever. Maybe we'll be seeing more of him?

At least the jingle is catchy, I guess.

Yeah, I know he is famous, I said back in the thread I live in Japan and see him on TV sometimes. I don't profess to be an expert but I know enough about psychology to know people are sheep and tend to gravitate to who or what is popular according to their demographic. This guy is not popular with the Vita target market. Nintendo have the right idea using Arashi for their 3DS ads. Sony don't.

What is the average age of existing Vita users ? We may not want to look at someone else's user base and think we can go grab the same folks. For one, Vita is more expensive.

So, no Vita event yet ? Hopefully it means they are working together for something worthwhile. Or at least walk the ground to fix assorted issues along the way.

I question it's ability to sell, which is a functional failure, but damned if it wasn't catchy enough to get me to play it multiple times in rapid succession. I see how this can be construed as a throw-back sort of CM. So much quirk.

Not here in the west maybe, but it seems like something that can be effective marketing in Japan. Nintendo uses random celebrities all the time in their western commercials and it seems to help their sales.
 
So Kawano and the crew at SCEJ still don't know what to, and what not to hype. So much for learning from the first Vita Game Heaven.

That said, with something this goofy I ain't even mad.

Yeah, but those celebrities actually play games, and then the ad shows a bit more of the game than just 3 seconds. None of them ever made something near to WOHOHOHOOOOOOOOHO! XD
 
It really depends on the Japanese audience. If they could read the White Vita message, and could identify with the old CMs, then they probably know what's going on. As for whether this is effective, we will get an indication during the next few sales tracking. It will partly depend on how many times they air this, what other stuff are being shown elsewhere, and if there're any deals.

Beats me. I doubt they will react directly. Looking at the choice of actor, they may be going after a slightly different audience. I don't pay enough attention to Japan gaming scene to make a good guess. ^_^
