Hmm, I can't say I think this PS3 ad is really that good. Ratchet ad on the other hand is really great.Concept17 said:I love these ads. By far the best console ads I've seen in some time. (except of course the 360 subway shooting commercial)
Truespeed said:Just watched it again. Did anyone catch the significance of the octopus? Those Sony marketing guys don't miss an opportunity to sell the Cell do they.
No...hauton said:I like how it shows Nariko and then pops out to the Playstation 3 in Octopus form.
Stealth admission that her hair is like a fiery red octopus glued to her scalp?

I think the ad is going to go over well... Clearly they're missing out on the retirement home crowd, which obviously isn't wise, but this ad will resonate well with the "playstation-age" gamers, teen through 30's males... Which is good, because these are people that are not as reluctant to spend that cash on something like a game machine...
I always thought the black onyx mouse over ads were cool how the stuff morphed based on selection title, this works pretty well too... Of course, there will be people who don't like it though; some that genuinely don't like it, rooted to other machines, or those who still can't forgive Sony for finishing off Sega in the hardware segment...
Can't win them all Sony!
P.S. Give Uncharted the awesome commercial quality that Ratchet got please! More people need to become aware of this new IP...
I like the new ad. Definitely better than the crying baby. Though, I have to say, a little disappointed that the games were only given small snippets of footage.
neptunes said:10x better than the ads they had around launch
though I think they try to cram too much into one commercial.
Each game should have their own ad, as two of those games are new IPs, so the public may not be able identify them in 10 second snippets.
Then one should be hacked off. For redundancy, mirite?Marconelly said:No...

I think this console ad shows more actual game footage and tries to show what the actual system can do than the other console ads I've seen, which almost exclusively focus on life style and image. These ads do a pretty good job for trying to convey a rather complex message (games, system capabilities, image, et) in a short time.VonGak! said:Wow talk about trying too hard to be hip :S
The TV spots focus so much on the transforming art that they utterly forget the games.
It's almost like they in the very last sec stopped up and said: Wait, didn't we forget something... oh yes, the games. Quick let's throw something in from Gametrailers.com
Who can honestly claim they were wowed by the actual game footage? No one because the game bit's are too short and presented in highly unfavorable angles making them look daft.
30 sec of the latest Uncharted trailer and 30 sec of the latest R&C trailer would sell more consoles than these two 60 sec adds which even fails to convey the PS3's multi functionality (if any, these new adds will only succeed at scaring away the female audience).

AdventureRacing said:Why did they get rid of the voice at the end of the ads saying 'playstation'? I think that was a mistake.
The uncharted and R&C ads were good but i really don't like this one, and i doubt it will have much impact. Although compared to the white room it is a big improvement.
VonGak! said:Just take Uncharted as an example, the game is a visual stunner but the PR guys manage to make it look like a last gen platformer. Twits, show footage where the animation blending, water, foliage and hand combat are noticeable.
Tideas said:How are you gonna be able to back up your point of "it will not have much impact?"
AltogetherAndrews said:Action and motion is far more important to an ad like this than animation blending and foliage. They aren't marketing to NeoGAFers.
