The site removed the prices? Were they even ever there?
It's still there, you might need to unblock sonystyle.com to see it.

I was just there on the page, lol, it shows the same stuff and all but no prices.

Oh see it, it seems like its only access through on the world of HD page but not through the bravia page. Odd that on the actual area nothing is even 199$...

Didn't they just drop the price last Aug/Sep? This is too soon.

Probably just a case of internal miss-comm. Stupid things happen in the upper management <-> mid management <-> manager <-> supervisor <-> web site developers chain.

Seriously, if it was a typo (or a pre-E3 slip), I'm sure it would have been fixed by now.

I'm sure the $199.99 is the $100-off deal when you sign up for a Sony credit card. That deal's been on for a long time.

Or part of the Blu-Ray player with the purchase of a Bravia TV Deal.

Move Bundles would be my guess but the debug units make me wonder.

Sorry this was actually a reply to the engadget article posted above.

You know what makes me sad?

We're 5 years into this gen, and $199 is a RUMOR.

Remember last gen? Xbox dropped to 199 within SIX MONTHS! PS2 took "only" 2 years! GC launched at it!

I bet the new models will have USB on the rear of the machine for PSMove.

Makes sense, maybe bring back 4 USB slots again now that they're making money on the machine, how much would it cost to put an extra 2 USB slots? I use 3 USBs at any given time, 1 for my headset, 1 for the controller cable recharger and 1 for the PSEye which I never use but is always connected.

:lol

I hope this is true. Can't bring myself to sell my phat PS3 (backwards compatible), but it's so loud. Would like to pick up a cheap slim and hook it up to one of my monitors.

$199.99 in 2002 is $299.99 in 2010.

10 years have also passed since the launch of the PS2. I think $100 or so covers inflation.

Move bundled PS3 hardware?

If that's the case, then 199 would probably be the "core" package, and probably just filtering out all the older left over slim models. Move will become a sort of standard at 299. This would be big news.

So it changed back to 299.99?

Well, I guess it's true then.

Not so sure. They wouldn't want misinformation on their site (if it's false), and they wouldn't want it to leak before E3 (if it's true).

this site is claiming that the X360 Elite is dropping from 249 euros to 199 euros in Austria, beginning this monday.
Well, I'm Austrian and there was this a short while ago:

But I believe that was just a short-term deal.
(Note how they use the ancient PLAYSTATION 3 text/font in an ad for the slim)

yeah, GAF doesn't really understand inflation too well.

witness the continued outrage over $60 games, when games were "only" 50 bucks new on PS1 and PS2
