You'd think they'd include a savings on the System bundle, there is nothing that You're saving that's any different than buying the system and the sports bundle separately.

Aw man, $30 for a charging station... nah. If it also charged my DS3s I'd consider it, but as it is I'll just plug in a USB cable like I do now. I've got more than enough USB ports in my living room to be able to do this.

Still not quite sold on the Sports games, even though I'm a big fan of archery. This may end up being an amazon purchase with some other game and a cheaper Eye.

why? you only need to buy the Move controller and some Move compatible game, you may already have it like Heavy Rain or RE5:Gold Ed

The hardware bundle is a good deal but pricey.

The only thing interesting to me about this is that, it's amazing how the pricing of these consoles at the beginning of this gen continues to impact things all the way till now. The hardware bundles are still too expensive, and this is a hurdle I don't think Sony or MS will ever truly be able to get over in terms of using this generation of hardware to compete with the Wii. Whereas everyone was focusing on the Wii's controller all this time, it's really the choices Nintendo made with the Wii's core hardware that is making me believe that any chance of cutting into its market is impossible. Because all that extra hardware is going to waste on the people they're trying to appeal to: They simply don't care about it, and yet there it is, still there, still inflating the pricetag, still biting these two companies in the ass.

I mean, MS could very well surprise me with a $299 360+Kinect bundle at some point, but that aside... I just don't see either of these options grabbing anyone new. Move should sell well to the system's current market though, so at least there's that.

See, the thing is you would think both Sony and MS learned something from the Wii.

What they should have learned:

"Mass market gaming consoles are gaining in popularity amongst a more mature market with younger children, who can be more price sensitive than in the past. Therefore, gaming consoles and hardware need to be extremely cheap to get them in consumers' homes."

What they actually took away:

"WAGGLE LOL"

You can't release an update to an existing console for $100+ to add a feature that is now 4 years old and expect it to sell. Sony added an additional layer of stupidity by not even packing a nunchuck with their bundles!

I suspect the reason Microsoft hasn't tipped their hand on pricing yet is to see how many idiots are out there will actually pay $150 for a waggle peripheral with no games. It's not like Gamestop, Amazon etc. aren't reporting back these numbers. I suppose in that regard they are playing a smarter game than Sony, but Kinect is $99 with a game or bust.
Sony has some leeway because their brand of waggle will hold just as much sway with the core as the casual. It's basically like using a mouse.

Because by the look of it, it'll cost as much if not more to buy the Move and a game than to get the $99 Eye-Move-Game bundle.

If said game is Sports Champions, that is.

Kinda sucks if you already have the camera. I only want sports champions for Ping Pong and buying the move and game alone is $90; at that point, might as well get a second camera for $10. Then I'll need another move for two player ping pong or just the games that support two of them. what a pain.

The entire thing cost too much money. Whatever I get, I don't think I will bother with the navigation controller. Killzone 3 is maybe the only game I'd playing using the Wii FPS style, and I'm not that interested in the game.

at least the move only games cost $40 instead of $60, or even $50 like on the Wii.

I still don't get the point of the X and O buttons on the nunchuk. Do they do the same thing as X and O on the Move?

because it can be used alone. X/O to navigate XMB, turn off controller, etc. It's also the reason there can only be a total of 7 controllers hooked up at any one point, meaning 4 people using the nav/move combo can't happen.

I remember hearing something like that:

$299 - 360 Arcade + Kinect
$399 - 360 Super Elite + Kinect

Not sure about this though. That's only from what I've read in the rumors.

I'm in the same boat. I'll buy 1 Move controller just to give it a try, and if it's good with Socom, Heavy Rain, LBP, etc I'll consider entrenching myself further.

I have no expectation of Sports Champions being a good game. The only reason they're charging $40 it in my opinion is so they can make the $99 pack look like a better value. Gamestop will have 1000s of copies used for $5.

aren't all move-only games 39.99?

This is priced right on the cusp of the maximum amount that people would pay... any more would be a no go for me.

And back to the two move convo, no game (save The Fight) requires two. No game. Also, no game (ever) will require the nav.

Came here to say this, the price of that thing is crazy. That said I'm going to bite because of Killzone 3 having Move support and Singstar Dance.

Is the Sports game confirmed to have online multiplayer? Online ping pong with trash talk over the Eye microphone could have... potential.

Perhaps it will make people reconsider their hatred of the nunchuk being tethered to the wiimote. It's a pretty crappy price for what we get, but considering it needs its own battery and wireless equipment it wasn't going to be the cheapest thing.

Dude you're something. Lately I come in here about once a week if not less, mainly to check the Move/Kinect threads and it's impossible not to stumble on a post where you mention how untouchable Nintendo are. No really. :lol:

Blame your avatar. You're probably right, though.

I post in lots of different topics. But yes, I find the Move and Kinect scenarios interesting for a variety of reasons. And I wouldn't be so 'Nintendo is invulnerable' if the other two companies were doing anything truly, without question compelling.

That game is seemingly delivering on all it's promises in a good fashion. It's a collection of Sport activities and that is it's only ambition but I haven't read any negative impressions. It is what it is, looks pretty enough and it works.
I find the chosen sporting branches to a very good pick, pretty diverse.

I think people are forgetting that move is a secondary control method thus why you are paying premium. Accessory are also one of the main profit makers for console manufacturers if I remember correctly. So no there isn't going to be a 2 move + navi controller + camera + game bundle for $99 because that would be a loss for Sony and put them into a bigger hole then they already dug themselves into. Its also why the move PS3 bundle is $100 more so they can make profit from it. Sony isn't trying to transition from DS3 -> move as its main control scheme, they are just giving people another option. If you want HD Wii then your going to have to pay, its just that simple.

Now will move bomb? Probably, but if it was your company would you want to take a loss on the accessory and hope it sells well (even thought it will history has taught us it will bomb) or make profit on the item with the same chance of it bombing?

Now I don't understand the hate on the navi controller price, what did people think it was going to cost? Free? $10?

I'm actually hoping Nintendo releases an official wireless nunchuck by the time Zelda comes out. I'm one of those weird people that likes to do real swinging motions and all that and the damn cord pisses me off. I remember the old Nyko ones looked official, but their newer ones look ugly, and I don't even know if they work with motion plus. but yeah, even the wii nunchuck is too expensive for what it is, and the sony one is even more ridiculous.

btw, what does the Sony nunchuck even have in it? can it rumble? does it the same sixaxis stuff?

So the sweet spot for consoles is $199 right? ($249 if the competition tries to bankrupt themselves with higher prices). Why in the flying fuck are MS and Sony selling 'casual' gaming products for $399 and $149 + $299 and why do they adopt SEGA CD and SEGA 32X business models?

This reminds me of the time that I wondered why Sony's marketing(our big friend Kevin) is aimed at people who already own their products? Isn't the point of advertisment to sell products to people that don't have your product yet? Who gave the go ahead for a marketing campaign that is nothing else but a .gif resource and a tap on the back for the loyal fans?

It also reminds me of the time that Microsoft redesigned the Xbox 360 to prepare for the 'casual' relaunch only to make it look like a black 'hardcore' Xbox that was hit by a car. Instead of throwing money at stupid projects like this, MS and Sony can just fork over half of the investments to me and get the same ROI, hell the ROI is probably even better.

Production costs for the Wii should be ridiculously cheap right now. The only thing Nintendo has to do is to drop the price to $149 and hell they don't even need to do that.

Move is not casual, well, according to Sony :D

And if that's true, if they're not attempting to appeal to a different market, then I don't see anything wrong with its pricing. Hell, I might buy one down the road.

360 redesign isn't throwing money away, it's a new design with a simpler motherboard and a more efficient cooling design, it will actually save them money. Plus it will sell additional shiny black accessories. ;)

Now that I think about it... the Sony nunchuck would obviously have been cheaper if it were wired to the wand, like Nintendo's (no battery, no bluetooth sensor, and as a bonus it would allow for more simultaneous players). But it would probably have made it more difficult to use the DS3 as a replacement nunchuck.
Maybe it's the idea of using the DS3 as a sub-controller that dictated that the nunchuck had to emulate it, and thus use bluetooth and be independent from the wand. So to reduce the starting price for the user by using existing controllers, they also increased the price of the real controller.

Out of curiosity, does Sony's sports compilation software allow you to make your own person? Or are there default models that you choose between to represent you in the game?

They are presenting it like a fighter it seems. You have a grid of personalities and the 1p is presented with art on top left and 2p top right (Tekken selection screen).

IMO it seems to be that way, look at the list of move compatible games.

* Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 11
* Toy Story 3: The Video Game
* The Lord of the Rings: Aragorn’s Quest
* Brunswick Pro Bowling
* Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition
* Time Crisis: Razing Storm
* R.U.S.E.
* Hustle Kings
* PAIN
* TV Superstars
* The Fight: Lights Out
* The Shoot
* High Velocity Bowling
* Heavy Rain
* NBA 2K11
* Kung Fu LIVE
* John Daly’s ProStroke Golff

* Deadliest Catch: Sea of Chaos
* Disney Tron Evolution the Video Game

You aren't seeing a ton of casual stuff in here or at least blatantly causal stuff like you do with kinect.

I dunno, Sony's and MS's strategy is best described like this:

They set their money on fire and are now trying to douse the flames with more money.

Wii Sports and Resort.

The reason I asked isn't actually because of those, it's because of the endless stream of low-rate shit compilations (including the ones on the HD consoles like, say, Winter Sports 2010). Pretty much all of the sports compilations succeed at their very low ambitions, but most of them aren't any fun, and I really don't see anything in Sports Champions that makes it seem like a good game like Wii Sports Resort or a great game like Wii Sports.

I wonder if those PSN games will get patched as before / at the Move launch?

To be honest, I don't think a lot of people looked at Wii Sports initially and thought it was anything fun either, and it turned out to be a smash hit. I think it's best we hold our judgments until the product is released. I think some of the games aren't very interesting (the gladiator one specifically) but ping pong, volleyball, and archery look good. Plus disc golf looks like a cool addition as well.

Ping pong, man. Everything else looks like Super Monkey Ball Banana Blitz-level trash, but the ping pong looks really awesome. Honesty, that is the only reason I want the move. Ping pong is my favorite part about Wii Sports Resort and the version of ping pong in this looks to take the simulation even further.

I don't even know if it has online play, which would be even better.
