Sony: "No concerns" about any lack of PS4 software this Holiday

t4g5JHK.gif

That's funny as hell. Thanks for the laughs.

Gamers/world: "Please fund FF7 Remake! The world over has been clamoring for it for a decade! It would revitalize console sales in Japan and be a stratospheric success!"

Sony: "No. We will fund Killzone, The Order, and Driveclub instead. We will also be let down when they don't break top 5 in the sales chart the first month they are released, and then fall off completely with nobody remembering them!"

/bitter

Bloodborne and Street Fighter 5 are hopefully steps in the right direction....

Only release all their games in Sept-Dec. Games are much better when released and played in the fall than say in the Spring. I mean seriously, who the hell wants to play BB this time of year? I know personally I will get more enjoyment from the game if I play it in November.

Please tell me this is a joke post for the love of god.

and Persona 5. Don't forget Persona 5.

I have a hard time believing the english version of Persona 5 will actually hit in 2015, unfortunately. The japanese version might come out in the end of the year, but Atlus doesn't really do simultaneous worldwide releases. With translation and voice work it usually takes at least a couple of months before they are ready for a US release.

I just don't see them straying from that norm with a game of this size.

Of course they are concerned.

And of course they would say that they are not.

They listed a port and an indie game and promises of a glorious E3. Hmmmm. I bet bosses are telling studio leads to be concerned.

Sony can't possibly hope to hinge their entire 1st party lineup on Tearaway Unfolded this Fall. There's got to be some bombs dropping at E3. Or maybe Sony just doesn't care and 3rd parties are enough for now. We'll see.

E3 SHOULD BE INTERESTING.

Yeah I'm surprised they didn't list their unannounced upcoming games in this passing comment

The upcoming 50-100$ pricecut bundled with the biggest 3 party games is enough too "win" the holidays in the USA. I still think there will be huge megatons this E3 nulifying, the "no games" argument of the non believers. Case closed

Between this and the No Man's Sky "first party release" topic, I think we can deduce that:

No Man's Sky is coming this holiday season 2015.

No Man's Sky will be digital and retail.

No Man's Sky will receive a pretty big marketing push this holiday season.

No Man's Sky will be a $60 title at release.

No Man's Sky won't be coming to other platforms any time soon.

Obviously Sony saw the hype at reveal and have invested to essentially make this a PS exclusive title for now. Smart move, that is if the game really does deliver of course.

About Persona 5, the US Playstation branch has shown themselves to be very aware of the internet community abroad and even gaf specifically. They must be aware how thirsty the fanbase is. It's also an exclusive game. Hence, I could see it being featured at E3 with a release date for this holiday and some Sony marketing behind it. However, I wouldn't be shocked if the game is not coming this year either.

The fact is, even if they never made a another game themselves again, there are a shit ton of great games every year that are multiformat, so you will never be short of games to play.

The Playstation exclusive third party games coming to PS4 are a lot more interesting to me than the first party Sony games outside of Gravity Rush Remaster, so i guess its just me, but i don't even see why there should be concern for no first party games in holiday season. The year isnt all about the holiday, its only 2 months in which the consoles are gonna sell out anyway

Do people not realize that tearaway is pretty much a remake remade from the ground up for ps4 or are they just shitting on tearaway?

Please just give me SOMETHING that's actually exclusive and worthy of being called next gen. So far I've just seen HD'ier versions of games I've already played. Does anyone remember MGS2 and what a leap that was over MGS1 in terms of not just graphics but gameplay?

I can easily see myself waiting 3+ years to buy a console this gen, which is at least 2 more than any previous gen

I think people are concerned because it's the biggest first party title for this holiday and the vita version was fairly short and only single player of i'm not mistaken? I don't have a vita so I never paid too much attention beyond a review or two on release and I can't check while I'm at work. But It hardly seems like a big release unless they add a significant amount of content, leaving the ps4 really hurting for big exclusives for the rest of the year.

Persona 5 is literally all I need.

My man. I only need the GOTG to release this year for it to be good.

It's not, they adapted the control for the PS4 and added "50% more content" whatever that means, but it's still the same game and story.

Media Molecule themselves are calling it an extension of the original Vita version.

What your asking for is not relegated to consoles, but development in general. Pubs and devs alike have hit a wall in what they feel is an advancement of core mechanics, i think even if we had consoles 5 times more powerful, we'd still be seeing the same games in higher res.

Another part if it is that your not 13 anymore. The days of anticipating the hype factor of brand new games is long gone and so is being "wowed" by things coming out in general.

E3 should be fun. It sounds like they have something in mind and they're being careful not to give it away too soon.

Predicting a bombshell of some magnitude.

What do people want Sony to say? "We have no software this holiday, and we're really fucking worried, fuck. shit"

I feel like I've read this exact post in 2006/7 at the start of the previous gen.

You do realise that across the board, that is up to the developer's talent and ability first and foremost, and not so much platforms, right?

We've reached a point in gaming where advancements in gameplay that are next-gen, aren't achieved by raw hardware power, but by core game technology & smart game design.

FOX Engine was more instrumental at giving us a great game than "current-gen hardware."

Persona 5 is literally all I need.

Western release probably not exclusive after E3. Windows or XB1 as well is my bet.

I don't like to make a habit of predicting the future, but... what in the world gives you that idea? I mean, PC could be a thing... at least it is possible. But XB1?

What about Guilty Gear, FFX/X-2, Tales of Zestiria, and Star Ocean 5? Are you banking on them coming to XB1 as well?
