MGSVGZ was the most 'next-gen game' I've played in the past 2 years, and it has absolutely nothing to do with 'next-gen hardware.'

No. The poster was asking which games brought something new to the table in terms of gameplay. Other responded Bloodborne, Infamous, etc...
What was new about their gameplay though (as in wasn't/couldn't be done on last gen consoles) ?
What's the whole Persona X.L(?) The Movie all about?
Can you name me some examples? Because I'm drawing blanks for both consoles.
Really disappointed with Sony in terms of first party output and also in general with communication from the PlayStation team and developers in general. Such stark contrast in comparison to the PS4 pre release.
Enjoying many of the Indies though and the occasional third party effort though.
Hopefully it's just the quiet before the storm as they say.

He was asking for next gen gameplay which is not a real thing. It's a made-up criticism from people who probably just don't like video games anymore.

Its saying "We got bread and potatoes, but we also have a roast in the oven and some soup that'll be ready for dinner as well."
I think people are expecting huge advancements like the SNES to N64 Mario games or the cover shooting in Gears (I know Kill.Switch did it first, but let's be honest, Gears was the first for a majority of people).
It's really up to the developers to create new innovative concepts, and it has nothing to do with hardware.
The reason why I'm so excited for Splatoon is the fact that they're pushing the shooter genre in a different direction. And that's on the Wii U.
Two games on the table are not details...just appetizers.

Then why didn't he talk about Uncharted 4 or SFIV if his intention was to distract the audience from the holiday season?
I mean I know the first party lineup is shit, but lets not pretend there won't be anything to play. There were plenty 3rd party games last year and this year to play.

Thanks Sony. I bought my PS4 for Destiny...it was fun...but the enjoyment didn't last and literally there has been nothing groundbreaking to tie me to the platform in 6 months.
Resulted in my selling my PS4 and putting the $$$ towards new PC components.
I'll be back, but probably closer to the official Morpheus release.

Everybody knows about no man's sky and tear-away already, we've already seen reveals and footage. I'm pretty sure he's talking about games that's not been revealed yet or that people don't expect.

I don't think a new console will suddenly bring new gameplay, I was actually asking why the gameplay of the games some people quoted was considered new;

It can't be new IP since those need more time to build up the hype, what else could be ready but unannounce?
New Everybody golf maybe, but that's annouced at TGS.

This is the most excited I have been for an E3 since the Launch of the new consoles (which lead till a slow few months after that).
Everyones and there baby daddy is having a conference. I may actually attempt to watch all conferences instead of just the console holders. But I'll base that on what games are expected to be shown.

I do agree with established IP, but it could be something as simple as the Uncharted Collection, which is only up-scaling and porting

Sony Bend can easily have a game ready, their last game came out in 2012
Team Gravity can easily have Gravity Rush 2 ready
Team Ico could have TLG (yeah, I know)
Team Japan could have a collaboration ready
If Mm's new main team game isn't Morpheus based they could easily have it ready, its been 4 years since LBP2
Guerrilla games and Cambridge could both possible have a game ready depending on their development cycles and teams, its been 2 years since both.
An Uncharted Collection could easily happen.

Of course Sony has games to announce at E3. But I doubt they will be AAA titles.

In my mind, there are 4 rational candidates:
- Uncharted Trilogy
- Gravity Daze 2 (<- least likely imo, Sony probably needs to rehype the IP for PS4)
- Everybody's Golf
- The Last Guardian

The game barely sold on the Vita, meaning the vast majority of people still haven't played it and it'll be a completely new experience for them. I wonder how many of these "OMG NOT NEW!!" people didn't even play the original. At least half of the game's content is going to be new, with the trackpad and gyroscope bringing in several new gameplay ideas.

Honestly I found this interview reassuring. Just because games are taking longer to develop doesn't mean the console is harder to develop for guys; as he said, with higher capacities comes higher ambition. It sounds like they had to rush the games up to this point and dont plan on doing so going into the future, which is a move I'd agree with....even if it takes a weaker holiday season this year.

People hoping Sony will have a surprise AAA game announced for fall 2015 are going to be dissapointed. Majority of first party AAA games usually get announced at the least 7 or months before release. LittleBigPlanet 3 was not a huge deal, it wasn't AAA and wasn't even developed by Media Molecule. I expect games like Tearaway Unfolded, Until Dawn to be delayed to fall 2015. Or they will have fall release dates for some digital games like No Man's Sky and The Witness. The biggest hope is probably a Uncharted Collection or Beyond/Heavy Rain remaster. Sony will also just pimp their 3rd party partnerships with Assassins Creed, MGSV, Battlefront and etc.
100% agree with the Tearaway bashing. All the people that bash it, just looking at the numbers, probably didn't play it. Also with the lack of sales on the vita, when someone that isn't on an online forum and sees it out will just believe it's a new game.

There shouldn't be, indeed. My year is longer than 3 months and anyway, this is something that should matter only to them, sales wise. We know they can easily survive with those unknown games like FIFA, so.. problem solved.

Seriously. It's an original, charming, and aesthetically beautiful 3D platformer from Media Molecule, was reviewed extremely well and and it's going to get a pretty big overhaul in content. Regardless of whether or not someone already played the original (and I bet quite a few people complaining in the thread never played the original) there's gonna be plenty of new content worth seeing. But magically none of that matters and the game "doesn't count" because reasons.
People are misdirecting their blind hatred of "remasters" at a game that isn't even a remaster. It's pretty mind boggling.
I hope Sony has some AAA exclusives for the holidays. Its fairly shitty that we could be going into the 2nd Christmas in a row with another medicore lineup! The only game that I am looking forward to is the Tomorrow Children so hopefully that makes a holiday release!

I see what you mean thanks for clarifying.
yeah i understand now. Im pretty pumped for Splatoon aswell. Its put its own spin on the tps and it really feels fresh from the demo ove played.
