Sony PlayStation Vita Live Stream!

BREAKING NEWS

Wasn't the man in charge of this game a developer of repute and honour? Did they have three months to develop the game? Someone find him on Twitter.
They have two 2+ months until the western release. The game can potentially be 40% better! #keepthehopealive

GAF'rs with a Japanese PS Vita. Have you guys noticed any dead pixels on that beautiful OLED screen? I hope not! :) I will buy a PS Vita when it launch in Europe along with Rayman Origins, Uncharted: Golden Abyss and (maybe) Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3.

I thought a dead pixel was like when the shutter/filter thing got stuck. And OLED doesn't have those because the things are naturally luminescent. Or something.

I wonder if I could hold out for the eventual white VITA release. My japanese launch PSP was white, and its hard to go back.

lol

I want to know how resistant the screen is to fingerprints and smudges. That always drives me crazy.

For the majority of people, it is as resistant as the screen protector you choose to use.

I use Power Support Anti-Glare on my iPhone and it's pretty good at keeping the screen clean but nothing beats the bare screen for clarity and crispness. I don't use them for handhelds like DS or PSP because I don't take them everywhere or abuse them like I do my phones.

Someone asked him what he thinks of Uncharted's graphics, the response was overly emotional.

He seemed tired and weary, and DJ Mizihura seems overly defensive of the Vita.

As a sidenote, on a larger scale I think Vita's underdog status makes its fans a bit emotional/crazy on boards. Other underdog systems like Neo Geo, Amiga, Apple in the 90's, Dreamcast, Neo Geo Pocket, Saturn inspired similar defensive reactions/emotions in people.

Maybe im crazy.

Very nice hardware... system software looks pretty solid and well thought out too.

Getting a very positive impression from the stream.

He wasn't being defensive about the Vita. See my post above for what he said.

why underdog?
the psp is a 70mil+ console, this could do even better... success of the system is not dying and having a very good library of games while being profitable. the psp was successful so i think the vita will be also

the ds sold more? so? we should all buy toyotas cause it sells the most cars worldwide?!
many brands exist in an industry........................ maybe he is defensive from crazies

Hey I don't want it to be, but that's the impression I get whenever I enter a Vita thread on Gaf.

Uncharted looks great. Much better than I expected. Hardware and OS seems pretty nice too, but I'm still not a fan of the bubbles.

Did they show the other OS view with the slides?

Yes. They showed off pretty much the whole OS in the beginning and then got to games.

You're doing it backwards. The iPhone doesn't need a screen protector, it's gorilla glass. You're putting a shitty piece of plastic over a screen that's already well protected.

The DS and PSP on the other hand, are plastic, and actually can benefit from a protector.

As for the Vita, I assume it's glass as well, and as such, doesn't need a screen protector.

can you turn off the jiggling on the bubbles? it just makes me think of dead or alive.

do ipods use gorilla glass too or only iphones?

The bit about some games cutting communication while in game is really disheartening. While Katamari didn't seem to give the hard prompt, the message DJmizuhara sent was only received when the message app was launched.

Hopefully this issue has more to do with PSN's launch congestion.

It doesn't sound like anything a firmware level update wouldn't fix. This is a completely new OS after all. I'd expect them to be ironed out pretty quickly.

Anyone tried launching the WebKit browser while in-game yet ?

Sony said you can't run them in parallel until a patch later. Would like to know what they meant by "running at the same time".

It popups up a message and asks you to close the game when you go to the web browser in game.

I guess that's it. (PSP will never be a failure in my eyes though <3)

i also owned the original xbox and its supposed to be a "failure" cause it sold a little but i liked it and its successor its doing even better......
i own many systems and i'm not choosing only the "best selling" at the time of buying.

It's $80 more expensive than the immediate handheld competition that came out a year earlier and has a few Nintendo "killer franchises" as well as MH 3G/4. They're definitely the underdog.

Its technology is superior to the 3DS, but history teaches us that this is not enough to succeed. What they'll need is a steady amount of good games and some killer apps, which so far are doubtful. If Vita manages that, it'll without a doubt find its own niche. I just don't see the PSV doing similar numbers as the PSP in its lifetime right now though.

They have some good games for launch, but only time will tell if they can keep 'em coming.

define success pls....

Both my DS and PSP screens are crystal clear with not a single mark on them. I went screen protector less on my 3GS after the first year and it did pick up a couple hairline scratches and some grit under the screen but it was pretty heavily abused. I enjoy the feel of the anti-glare protectors and it cuts down on fingerprints and smudges significantly. Using it on my 4S now but may consider removing it later since I'm trying to take better care of this one.

I typically only use my handhelds at home or on business trips so screen damage is not really an issue.

That I don't know for certain. We only know the iPhone does because it was revealed in the Jobs biography. Apple doesn't talk about stuff like that. That said, it's glass either way, and offers better protection than a flimsy piece of plastic.

The end result is that you end up with an ugly display, since the plastic picks up all kinds of scratches the glass never would. Same goes for Vita.
