Sony: PS4 will have strongest (most games?) PlayStation launch line-up yet

Ask multiplatform gamers what version they'd prefer: PS3 or PC.

That's your answer.

Preference is obvious, what's actually important to sales of a new console is having games that clearly demonstrate that the console you own is being made obsolete.

It doesn't necessarily mean a higher resolution, or dynamic forehead sweat simulation. Consoles like the Wii and DS demonstrate this.

More games, sure. Are there going to be any launch day titles that make you think 'Ok, this could have never been done before, and I want it'?

"stronger" doesn't necessarily mean more games. Due to the ease of porting to this platform, I would say there will be a bunch of high quality cross generation games as launch titles.

Well he interjects title count directly into that statement, and references how it's easy to port things to the platform as context.

Yeah I just think using the word 'stronger' is an easy out if the number is lower, he also said he 'can't' give the title count so he could be pulling focus from numbers to quality. Although what do I know! I'm just reading into it I guess.

If Knack and Infamous are launch, then I might buy one.

A Sucker Punch employee had inFamous listed as a launch title on his Linkedin. I believe that SP responded to that by saying that it isn't something that they'd even know about. Of course that isn't true since I believe both Guerrilla and Evolution were approached about making launch titles.

Here is the previous time he talked about launch games from March 30

This will also lead to the main difference with the PS3 era. The main difference is, we will have many titles for launch. Because game development is easier, there shouldn’t be a barrier as there had been previously. PS3 had the image that it was difficult to develop for. Even the PS2 wasn’t that easy. PS4 has a PC CPU and a GPU that’s been enhanced from a PC so the game lineup should become very rich.

So yeah I think he means quantity mostly.

For people who like KillZone and Infamous, I guess.

I'm sure it will have the 'biggest launch line-up ever' that each successive console has, filled out with ports and shovelware.

Isn't this what everyone says when they're releasing a new console? Would they say that this time we don't have as strong lineup as in the past?

I expect lots of cross-gen/pc ports considering Cerny's statement about it taking "weeks, not months" to port PC games to PS4.

I hope i'll find 1-2 games that interest me from their launch line up.But i don't want to be overexcited just yet.

"Stronger" in terms of quantity or quantity?

Anyway, significant credence would be heaped upon Sony if they manage to secure exclusivity for the next FF (timed at worst) in the west, make GT6 a cross generational game and reintroduce The Last Guardian.

Not exactly a bold statement, haha.

It's been a long time since the launch of any new console has really blown me away, I hope this time someone can deliver the goods.

I want to see LBP 3D

Dont care much for inFamous, Drive Club, and KZ3 left a sour taste in my mouth. Unless KZ:SF can get its shit together, which I keep holding out for.

I'll jump in for next gen GTA V, BF4, next gen LoU, etc. if they are substantial ugprades. If they can string some great PSN games, that'd be great too. New Stardust on day one? I'm in...

But I think they need to do something more convincing. I think they need to show fan support by giving incentives like free PS+, or free credit for PSN. You know, a way to give back to the dedicated fanbase that goes in blindly, not sure if the console will hold up down the line, hoping for The Last freaking Guardian to release on time, etc.

Personally, what excites me more than what has been revealed so far is the OS and hardware features. I'm in day one, but so far it's because I trust the success of the PS4, and really want to hold the new controller and navigate the new PSN.

There's a difference. PS4 will have 3rd party support.

It also helps that Sony's internal teams have experience with an HD console. And now they're moving over to one that's significantly easier to work with. It's becoming obvious that Nintendo is struggling with developing for HD consoles like many other devs did when entering the current-gen.

Well not hard afterall the Ps3, Ps Vita and even the Ps2 launch weren't that great.

I just hope they don't rely too much on sequels and start new IPs.

Please stop god of war already at least with Kratos and give us a brawler like it set in a Nordic mythology setting.

When I watched the Guerilla Games presentation about lightning tech in ShadowFall yesterday it really hit me that Sony has been busy preparing internal studios for next gen. Nintendo will have to go through the same pains again when they finally move foreward in tech.

Ps Vita and even the Ps2 launch weren't that great.
Vita launch was good.

PS2 had Timesplitters, Dynasty Warriors 2, Tekken Tag, and Armored Core 2. All great games.
