Sony: We have the best games line-up

Did they watch the same show as I did? Because I only saw trailers, and more trailers of games that were already out. And CGI trailers too, with no concrete releasedate. They have got the best cgi line-up.

Sony is still full of hot air which could lift a balloon.

So you're saying that a corporate executive made a statement of opinion characterizing his company's product as superior to his competitors' product. Amazing.

Personally I find the PS3 video download service uninteresting. This is, perhaps, because I have absolutely no interest in ever paying to download video, games (DLC being a slight exception), or music when I could instead purchase them in a physical form that will be far more portable and less likely to fall prey to hardware failure or quality issues.

In this regard I view the 360's Netflix deal to be much more useful. I say this as someone who does not own a 360 and has little to no interest in ever owning one. It's simply that I already have a Netflix account and would much rather have access to what are, to me, essentially free movies to be watched while waiting to get new ones in than I am in paying to download them onto a specific device without any special features and in all likelihood lower audio and video quality. At the same time I suspect that Netflix will be working out a deal with TiVo sometime soon as well making the utility of this deal somewhat smaller.

Nevertheless the video downloads are not a significant feature. No more than UMD was a killer app for the PSP.

Anyone expecting MGS4 numbers (almost 1 million units in the US alone) from LBP will get hurt emotionally.

I don't expect LBP to be as frontloaded as MGS4; however, I do expect LBP to easily sell more than 1 million in the US LTD.

LBP should have pretty decent legs given the type of community game experience it represents. I can imagine it being a game EVERY PS3 owner must have, even if they don't realize it right at launch.

Now we don't know how it is going to be received. It is a huge wild card. It could be niche or a massive mainstream hit. It all comes down to how Sony markets it.
All I said was that a single game can decide things like "the best lineup rom platforms" for a very small number of people.

Anyway, this entire thread is a trap and arguing which set of unreleased games is better is as stupid and pointless as it gets.

I don't get it what you are trying to say, that the conference was a dissapointment or that Sony has a worse game lineup then Microsoft (which what this thread is about)?

Seems not. You must have been watching something else.

Besides, he's not talking about 90 minute presentationals, he's talking about - you know - actually games through the year.

Every company is going to mark its offering as better than the rest, obviously. They have different levels of credibility, though. Last year Microsoft had a greater level of credibility on its side, as much as Sony fans might have tried to protest (sounding a lot like the 'other' fans in this thread now). This year I think the reverse the true. These things probably work in cycles.

OMG, IT'S THE EPIC BATTLE OF THE CONSOLE-BOYS! DON'T MISS THE OPPORTUNITY TO SEE WHO WILL END UP WITH THE MOST ">>>>>>>>"s!

Don't ban-bet over sackboy :( He loves you all.

This seems to be a continuation article with more comments from Reeves on upcoming events:

"And it’s not just Leipzig, it’s Game Convention – if we had one in London we’d do it in London. We have a number of things which is real blockbuster stuff for Europe.”

Reeves also explained that the platform holder will continue to spread its most high profile messages across the three key territories to ensure Sony gets the maximum impact in each of these areas.

“We feel now that we have a pattern globally which is E3, Tokyo Games Show and Leipzig – it gives us three bites of the cherry to come out with our announcements. We cannot tailor all our announcements to July.”

I guess Heavy Rain is their 'Leipzig blockbuster'.

Ok then, 1 month ban for me if LBP does not do at least 1 million LTD in North America alone.
1 month ban bet it is then. If it charts out of the top 10 NPD numbers for October, November, and December then I will feel confident about my bet:D

Interesting.

It seems like E3 really is losing its impact for western (American + European) titles -- it's now almost strictly focused on American Sony studios. Sony has chosen to hold back major announcements that would normally go down at E3 in favor of giving other global games conventions their time in limelight.

TGS was always big, but I suppose what I take from this is that Europe is now getting more attention than it traditionally has.

I'd guess, more immediately, that White Knight Story will be a focus point at TGS.

Trico predictions always fall flat :lol

I'm not sure I'd say that, they're just spreading them out a bit more. I think E3 still stacks up against the other shows in terms of importance for announcements etc.

O_o

I can understand you going for 1m in the first three months or something... but I think you're insane for doing long term. :lol

True, in terms of media importance its still the biggest show of the year.

But if Heavy Rain is shown at Leipzig, that'll probably be a bigger "announcement/revealing" than anything we saw at E3 in terms of new content.

Ban bets are insane.

Both have FFXIII next year lololol

At least as far as long-term is concerned, the Sony line-up certainly excites me more. God of War and Team Ico alone get me giddy.

Now what is the message there? The message is that there are known "knowns." There are things we know that we know. There are known unknowns. That is to say there are things that we now know we don't know. But there are also unknown unknowns. There are things we don't know we don't know. So when we do the best we can and we pull all this information together, and we then say well that's basically what we see as the situation, that is really only the known knowns and the known unknowns. And each year, we discover a few more of those unknown unknowns.

RESPECT YO ELDERS.

This is not going to end well...

:(

Both Ps3 and Xbox 360 have an awesome lineup. How about that?

“And we obviously agree with that – we think we’ve got title after title after title, not only first party but third party and I think in America they have the advantage of the video downloads service, which came at exactly the right time.
What does that even mean?

I know that I don't know what you have proclaimed that we know.
