There's a difference between jail and prison in the US, to be fair. I've never been to prison(which is generally for more serious crimes/felons), but I've been in jail a couple times.Well I know which Gaffers went to prison now.
I imagine prison food is much like school or hospital food.
Some of those actually look edible.

Best part about prison breakfast are the grape jelly packets. These things are like gold in prison, almost worth more than cigs. They can make anything taste good.

My brother was in county for a month, and his stories were disgusting to me, but he didn't seem to mind. There was something that involved making a burrito out of instant ramen. And lots of things involving canned tuna. I don't think this was food they were being served, but overpriced garbage they could purchase and make weird jail culture snacks with.
Here's a 30 minute video of some recipes:

Now these same prisoners totalling roughly 8,000 in number must suffer one further hardship: they will no longer be able to eat meat.
According to Arpaio, who calls himself Americas Toughest Sheriff, its a cost saving measure. In a recent appearance on Fox 10, a local Phoenix affiliate, the Sheriff explained that little by little, hes taking his prison system vegetarian. There will be no more meat on the menu, said Arapaio, well save $100,000.
Instead, Yahoo News reports, the jail will replace meat with protein-rich soy. Arapaio defended his decision to Fox 10, donning a chefs hat and endorsing one soy and vegetable dish. It looks great. It looks like stew, declared Arpaio. Im getting hungry. However, the affiliates reporter wasnt sold, pointing out that many of the carrots in the stew were brown, and the soy looked like wood chips.
Oh, thats probably just dirt, replied Arpaio. Dont worry about that.

working in a school kitchen i have to say most everything is better then what we serve the kids. With the meat, we have to go through it and remove the intestines and other organs. its great. It's better than what we serve kids in schools some days.

Isn't the plane pressurized? What's the difference?Airplane food is super-heavily spiced up to compensate for your sense of taste not working the same way at higher altitudes.
Nutriloaf is used as punishment for misconduct within the prison. It's not supposed to be part of the standard rotation.
I bet Norwegian prisons offer healthier, more nutritious and tastier food.American school lunches are as follows (my high school)
Chicken nuggets with fries and milk, one fruit
Plain chicken sandwich and milk, one fruit
Plain burger with fries and milk, one fruit.
Cheeseburger and fries and milk, one fruit.
Circle Pizza with milk, one fruit.
Sloppy Joes with milk, one fruit.
Plain burger doused in BBQ sauce with milk, one fruit.
Tacos with sour cream and milk.
Soups (chicken, vegetable, beef and vegetable)
Prepackaged salads
Pizza Hut (pepperoni, sausage, vegetarian)
Baked Potato, with or without cheese
Prepackaged subs
All processed (besides milk and fruit).
Remember watching a prison documentary and the figure given for how much each meal costs is 50 cents or 75 cents. Would wager School lunch is around that level.
They gotta catch me first!! Ain't going down without a fight!
Is anyone here actually posting FROM prison.
Lmao.
What is this show? I want to watch it.
