Sorcery isn't dead! More info in December.

More info? The Move is already dead, this game should have been out a year ago.

Well they left it full of shit. It's incredible that there hasn't been a decent core game built around the controller. A bunch of kids games and optional controls in mediocre action games aren't enough.

Why does it matter if the game was built around PlayStation Move controls or not if it still works well with the controller?

it's a good thing that PlayStation Move can work with games that's already good without motion controls.

I find it weird how SCE has basically left 2011 with no major Move games where in 2012 we'll see Sorcery, and Until Dawn (the flashlight horror game).

Wait, that game's still coming? I thought it was long dead by now.

it had nice graphics, especially considering it was coming from a small development studio (although it could be Santa Monica is lending a hand in this). what keeps me on the verge is the fact that with motion controls you always loose complete control of the camera movement, at least partially, and that usually means a worse controlling game. hopefully the devs will be able to slip into the game a good camera, even if it's not completely player-controlled.

Heh, I was just thinking about this game today for first time since it's E3 reveal. But I thought it was called Magicery.

Should've kept it a smaller type of project and just released it the way they planned at first. Upping a B or C-title to a AAA+ title rarely works out.

Looking forward to it.

Dedmund's Quest has a similar art style, so I hope they've mixed it up a bit. It'll have been in development for quite a while by the time its released.

what sense does this make?

This is the only game that made me consider move in the first place. I am happy we will be seeing how it's been coming along. I think they have probably fleshed it out more, should be very interesting.

I hope there is a variety of environments. It would be nice to move into some more open, lively areas instead of being stuck in a drab castley world throughout.

Maybe they'll move it to the vita as well. I don't see don't Sony releasing a big budget move only title in 2012 given the current status of the peripheral.

A tingle like cross-over with the vita ?

i kinda want this ...

I didn't say it would be accurate now, did I
So you're implying that someone will call this the Move's "killer app"? I don't think anybody is expecting anything more than a fun game that uses the functionality well.

I'm surprised they decided to keep it move exclusive considering there's barely any interest in the peripheral and I doubt this game will sell much... but it looked quite nice and full of good ideas so that's good :)

I fully expect them to bundle Sorcery with as many lower priced Move bundles as they can.

Yoshida confirmed it's still in development, and a few magazines have rumored it.

Hopefully this will give me a reason to clean the dust off of my move. I think the socom bundle must have been one of my worst purchases. Not only did I feel the game was a pile of shit but I also have yet to find a game I enjoy where the move is actually preferable to the DS3.

I'm gonna go with: he isn't a kid and different art style.

I have faith it'll be great. Goodness knows Sony have given them enough time.

I could take or leave this game, but if Sony wants Move to be at all relevant, exclusive games like this are the only option.

Oh god. That doesn't sound good

Why not? As cool as Sorcery looked at E3, visually it was very generic. Hopefully they've injected some style into the game.

I trust Sony to understand why the game generated such hype in the first place. I doubt they've "dumbed it down" as another posted suggested (what does this even mean?).

Yeah, expecting a massive dumbing down of what we saw.

Why would you expect a dumbing down? If it was going to be shoved out the door with little or no care, and be aimed only at children the game would've already been released.

"It's different" is always a way to say Shit Sucks in a nice way

No it doesn't. Sal's under embargo and he's being as vague as possible. It doesn't mean its bad. I would assume the "it's different" pertains to the way the game looks / plays. For all we know it could be much better than E3.

.

Seriously, that other VGA thread is going to make everyone paranoic about anything.

Sony needs good move only games.

I think it's too late for move to be important for PS3 or Sony at this point of the gen, selling more copies of the game ( aka make it support DS3) is way more important for the small studio behind this and Sony I guess.

Eh? The reason why most of us are excited is the way it works with the move.

I didn't say they should make it a DS3 only game, just add option for classic controller.

True, that leaves me a little hopeful.

But Move-only games like PS Move Heroes and Deadmund's Quest is not what I want Sorcery to end up being.

... and here it is:

PlayStation.Blog: I’ll cut to the chase: Why have we had to wait so long to see Sorcery again?

Brian Upton, design director, Sorcery: Coming out of E3, we knew there were some things we weren’t happy with. We really wanted to re-tool the game’s look, its world. We had the gameplay we wanted, but it just wasn’t ready for public consumption.

PSB: Tell me a bit about the character and quest. What’s changed since the original debut?

BU: The hero is Finn, he’s a sorcerer’s apprentice and a real hothead: he’s always trying to learn things he’s not ready to learn yet. When the game starts, your master’s magical talking cat, Erline, dares Finn into venturing into the realm of the dead. Finn, being the guy he is, can’t resist.

In the realm of the dead, you accidentally unleash something very, very bad. The consequences are dire for you and the entire world, so the quest is to undo the trouble you’ve caused. You also begin to realize the Erline is much more than a magical talking cat: she’s central to the whole problem that you’ve created. You’re cast somewhat in the role of Erline’s protector, you’re trying to get her from the human world to the heart of the faerie world to fix this problem.

- On track for Spring release.

- Art style is still cartoony, but less flat and generic compared with E3

- Level design reminds me of classic 3D platform adventures from day's past.

- Subtle movements effect how spells behave when cast

- Spells can be combined in various ways
