Sort of Wii sports related

I really enjoy Tennis, Bowling, Boxing and even baseball (minus the pitching) but golf is disappointing mainly because the back swing serves no purpose at all. Well from what I can tell it doesn't do anything in relation to the effect it has on the ball.

Is it possible with the wiimote to make a golf game that takes backswing and follow through into consideration and I guess left to right movements?

Tiger Woods does this i believe ;)

Ok cool. Heard what tomorrows wii game is yet, Vook?

Virtual Console? So far Mario Kart 64 which is what I was hoping for, no word on anything else yet. Europe should get it too.

Cant wait for Tiger Woods though, used to play Golf for real until they banned me for doing burnouts in the golf carts.

Wii Sports' Golf is more like a golf minigame (or minigolf game I suppose)

Its very much like the Golf in Monkey Ball for example. Aim your shot, account for aim, use the map to decide which club to use, swing a shot of appropriate power on the power bar.

I do think it was meant to be that way in order to be accessible. There will be more complex golf games I'm sure.

You can use your own backswing to help you regulate your power as it is much easier to keep a smooth motion and use the amount of backlift you use to affect your power.

Having said that it would be nice for it to give a closer replication of the swing.

I was just disappointed that it makes no difference if you don't do a backswing.

Vook - you should have enjoyed riding around in golfkarts in Vice City then. :lol

super swing golf emulates a swing very well... the game itself is just a bit goofy.

Well at least the golf game is so pretty looking :p I actually like it the most though. Need more courses though. Got chip in eagle the other day and I was celebrating like mad :lol

Tiger Woods 07 will likely be the title that convinces me to buy a Wii, based on these most recent impressions:

To swing, hold down B and make a golf swing. It's that simple. Like in other versions of Tiger, if you don't take the club back all the way, you will have less power on your shot. Unlike in other version, power is controlled by the speed of your downswing. The faster you swing, the farther it goes. Of course, if you push your downswing left or right, you're very likely to dig your Nike ball out of the bushes.

Once the ball is in the air, you induce spin by tapping the D-pad and shaking the Wiimote. The wrist strap is recommended here. To fade or draw the ball, you simply open or close the club face, respectively. Since the club face is really the Wiimote, you rotate it so the A button is facing the screen or facing away from the screen. Then take a natural swing and admire your physics-defying spin.
The gameplay mechanics sound really good, despite the diffculty in fine-tuning the putting right now. And yeah, it looks almost exactly like the other Gamecube Tiger games, for better or worse --- so graphics whores need not apply.

Go check out Tiger Woods golf. Looks excellent. If you twist the wii-mote in your hand it controls the 'head' of the club; ie: twist the club inwards and swing and you will draw the ball. Twist the wii-mote outward and swing and you'll slice the ball. There are some great movies on the web of it, go take a look.

While we are talking about wiisports can someone tell me if its possible to do multiplayer bowling with one wiimote? by passing it back and forth? Thanks.

It is. 4 players can take turns with however many Wiimotes you can muster.

Yes.
I have done this if you needed evidence.
