No, it's a sequel to an established series on the PS2 that I don't believe has even been hinted at (it may have been, but I don't remember).

Devil Kings? The IP Capcom registered a while ago? Is that it?

I would offer the DMC development team as an offering for a sequel to Megaman Legends on the PS2.

My luck it will be some shitty franchise I don't give a damn about.

Gran Turismo 4, Tekken 5, Devil May Cry 3, God of War, Final Fantasy 12, Soul Calibur III, Kingdom Hearts 2 and this new Phantasy Star game (+ "old" RE4).

vs

Conker, Forza (haha)

vs

Zelda, Resident Evil 4 (that's it)

AGREED!

2005 = Year of the Playstation!

Edit: yeah I'm a Cuber.
Remove Phantasy Star crap and add Wanda instead! :D

I didn't read the whole thread, but just in case this hasn't been confirmed yet, I received my copy of GamePro today and the article is real. It's Gamepro's 200th Issue Collector's Edition.

The first Onimusha trilogy has ended and it makes better sense to start with a new story with a new bad guy (the ending of Oni3 is clear on that hint hint) on a next gen platform.
Devil May Cry....the third games is just out so there's no time.
I hope it's not a new SF or Megaman (personal preferences nothing against those series).

Strider 3!? Bionic Commando Next?! Or both... IN SPACE!?
It's gonna be MMX9. :P

Actually Strider 3 is dead (which was in R&D for Xbox from the Chaos Legion team) while a Bionic Commando revival (which is in R&D for PS2 from the Maximo team) is still going strong. :)

Edit: My money is on Powerstone 3 or Street Fighter EX 4 (Capcom recently asked Arika to make another game in the series but Arika refused... it's possible Capcom found someone else to do it or they are doing it themselves).

I thought Capcom of Japan doesn't have the SF rights anymore. It's unlikely that Capcom of America has asked Arika to do EX 4. Still, I hope it'll come true some day. One can never have enough fighting games (Kengo series excluded)

Onimusha Code: Veronica X? Onimusha 4? Onimusha Gun Survivor? Onimusha Outbreak?

After GT4 and RE4, and after the PS2 announcements at E3, you could probably call 2005 the year of the "4's" on the PS2...

Lacked the sense of newness and awesomeness of the DC titles

Maybe because the DC and 128 bit generation was... NEW at the time? *gasp*

Sorry PS2 fans, but the PS2 is an outdated, outclassed, piece of shit IMO.

All this, and the PS2 still has the largest variety of quality titles! I guess old habits will never die.

Anyway, I'm just hoping that if it's truly a PS2 exclusive that they do their best this time to make the engine perfect for that platform and they really flesh out the create-a-fighter aspect for some much needed depth.

Didnt the GCN version get 10 times the amount of marketing than the others?

The others didn't get marketing as far as I saw on TV. They might as well have called it Link Calibur II exclusively for the GC.

Nintendo ran their own ads and Namco ran theirs. The Xbox version was the second most advertised IIRC. Nintendo's was the one with mostly gameplay. Namco's was the one with the weapons dealer, I think.

Well, what'd you expect when Nintendo's footing the advertising bill? :P

that was brilliant man. :lol Wish more people would do that, heh.

New Onimusha? Meh.

I wonder if it's going to have camera angles like the older ones did (if it is indeed a new Onimusha game). Capcom did something right with RE4 by getting rid of the static cameras.

If the hint is correct, I was on the money.

What the hell is Capcom trying to do here, beat the record for Capbombs?

Onimusha 4: $19.99 within 72 hours of release!

What actor will they shoehorn into this game? Billy Blanks or Cynthia Rothrock?

Attack the armies of Nobunaga with your Billy Bands in this fast paced action adventure title!

No offense, but didn't you first say that about 2 years ago? And how do you know that?

Yes! Fit I too will cry tears of JOY at this years' E3 :D

E3 this year will be great...the revealing of the next gen systems is just the icing on the cake (despite my thinking that this gen should last longer)

Onimusha 4? That should have been a PS3 launch title. Having the new trilogy split between systems is going to suck (that is...unless Capcom pulls a Megaman again and keeps the series going on the PS2 long after the new systems have launched).

I agree,Onimusha 4 as the beginning of a new story in the series should start on PS3.Moreover I don't think Capcom can do much better than Onimusha 3 on PS2 not only graphically but as a game.
We'll see what Capcom is working on...

I didn't expect this thread to get this big, i'm very surprised. I do think its a bad move on Namco part, but if selling 2 million copies in one region isn't enough then what is.
