Fighting game players use sticks. Period.

Give me a break. I've got a small stack of sticks myself but it's nothing to get snotty over. Nothing wrong with picking up a pad and wrecking shop.

You're a scrub.

And the 360 dpad is quite a challenge. I've played VF5 on it for hours and never quite got up to speed. I also played quite a bit of sf2hf on it and that was pretty rough as well. Kudos to anyone who can manage to play on that thing.

I'm gonna pick it up in a few.

At this point I'm leaning towards 360, I've always preferred using analog sticks for SC, and I like the main analog stick placement more on the 360 pad.

I'm still quite torn though.

I caved and ordered the PS3 version today. Free online + d-pad were the deciding factors for me. Also going from Siren:BC (PS3) to Mass Effect (360) made me appreciate the quietness of my PS3.

You do realize that Siren was played off the hdd (unless you have the BR version) and not a louder disk drive right? Just saying this before someone else does. I don't know how loud 360 is.

It doesn't make a lick of difference as the BD-ROM drive is inaudible at 2x speed.

I know but the PS3 is pretty much dead silent. Even when playing uncharted which doesn't have an install and constantly streams of the disc. My refurbished 360 appears to be nearing its second demise anyway. It has been locking up a couple of times lately and aside from the general jet engine sound it also has been making odd clicking noises every now and then (not just during start up/ shut down).

haha, the ps3 may be quieter than the 360 but not by a whole lot. But then again I have an old 20 gig 360 and a 60 gig ps3. Havnt listened to the 40 or 80's

I guess there are always differences among the various iterations of hardware. In my case the difference is remarkably clear.

So I started by ordering the 360 version, then picked up the PS3 version along with it because I couldn't decide which version I wanted. Labored over the decision and ultimately decided on the PS3 version so my girlfriend and I could play at each others' houses by simply transporting the save file.

So today I try to copy the save file we made last night to my own PS3 here at home.... NOPE. Doesn't work!

SOOOO, loooong story short, I just said fuck it and went out and bought a 360 premium edition, which is probably what I should have done in the first place given I prefer all my multiplat games on 360.

I'm mad as hell and the PS3 epic-fails me again. Lesson learned, I guess.

Now to play the game... with proper achievements and 1365x960 rendering too, lol.

most people who play fighting games use the d-pad, how can you not? Playing fighters with a analog is like playing fps's with the d-pad, not so good.

I wasn't talking about analog, I was talking about arcade sticks.

I went with the 360 version mainly for the achievements.

Also, the Vader DLC later pretty much sealed the deal.

I was under the impression there would be no "Star Wars-related" DLC for either system...

Was I misinformed?

Apparently, yes. I've seen Youtube videos of Vader fighting Yoda, for example.

And aren't there still empty boxes in the Star Wars row even when both versions get their missing Yoda/Vader?

I've spent a good amount of time with both versions now and they're damn near identical, and both great. I think the PS3 version looks a little more aliased, but no matter which version you have, you can be happy.

I'm surprisingly pleased by how well the 360 game performs with the D-pad. It's worlds better than the original Xbox controllers. The PS3 D-pad still gets the nod, but if you have to do any maneuvering with the analog control, the 360 stick actually feels better because there's less "dead zone."

OK, it's early Sunday morning and I just got in. I'll stop blathering now, lol.

Isn't there some 360 d-pad mod you can do to make it not so mushy?

Still getting the PS3 version though... 360 is on its last legs :(

sanding isn't enough. however this method works - and it works pretty damn well.

Is there a link to that video somewhere on these forums? Cause I did a search and can only find the trailer that has both of them in it...

My PS3 version arrived yesterday - was planning on buying it because Vader > Yoda anyway, but the fact that my 360's away with Microsoft in Germany for three weeks getting the RRoD fixed made it even easier.

Buying from play.com was the right thing to do - came with a free set of trigger extenders for the controller, which I have no interest in for this game but might turn out pretty awesome for racing games.

My friends and I played about 200 matches of VS mode tonight at my place (PS3 version), we noticed that doing moves with heavy hit effects/sparks causes lag more often than not near walls. This was for a number of stages. You can really feel the frame rate drop. We're gonna switch to the 360 version tomorrow and see if we experience anything like that.
