Why cant we have normal school yard type episodes.

Why does every episode have to be some political thing or about current events?

I've always wondered this, too. I can't remember when the show strayed torwards the current events and away from original stories.

I think they do original stories when they think of one, but it's very hard to do that out of nothing. Current events give them topical fodder and a springboard to tell stories from. Using their current schedule it totally makes sense to do it this way.

Yeah, I feel like they go through phases. They even made fun of themselves for getting too preachy at one point.

I seem to find that I enjoy the current events ones more while I'm watching them new, and the ones that are more just based on the kids are good for re-watches down the road.

Though, I did re-watch the scientology and Mormonism episodes recently and they're still hilarious.

One of the original ones in recent memory (years ago lol) was the one with the Pine Wood Derby and aliens. Unless you try and say that the Large Hadron Collider "building" being included for a sec makes it a current events issue.
