South Park: Season 19 - Starts September 16

I'm so glad they continued it with the dystopia AI sci fi plot. That was the best part of the last episode.

As to the episode itself it was entertaining as hell. I didn't burst out laughing, but the 'NomoAuchie' had me giggle.

And of course the 'you're thinking with your dick' part.



Last episode it was Blade Runner as it was the whole 'introduction' to the ads and how they're hiding among us, and one man (Jimmy) is an expert in his field who can distinguish between them.

This episode, while it could be argued was just taking from both of them as both follow a similar thread in this case, was clearly more Ex Machina. All of the following spoilers are direct references of Ex Machina, so clearly don't click them if you plan to watch the movie or care about spoilers:

EX MACHINA SPOILERS ALL TO FOLLOW:
- Jimmy interviewing Leslie and she cuts off communication/visual from the observing parties as to have a heart to heart with Jimmy to help her escape.

- Jimmy falling in love with her and deciding he wants to help her, hence the 'stop thinking with you're dick'

These last two I'll put in their own separate spoilers as they deal with the ending of Ex Machina:
- Him betraying the people that originally brought him there because he decided to 'think with his dick' and trust her over them.

- Leslie double crossing him and leaving him for dead/passed out

Yeah, yes. So glad I watched Ex Machina recently. Getting the references make it so much better.

And that first video in Jimmy's introduction. I swear I've seen the exact same footage in Shutterstock before. It's probably all stock footage though.

Pretty sure it is. I thought they said they would be switching to a 10-episode format. Season has been amazing.

Makes sense for next episode to be last. They could finish it in 20 minutes but here's hoping they somehow convince adult swim to let them do a 40 minute finale. Unlikely as they'll probably be able to do it in 20 but man I'd love a big ass finale to this fantastic season

Well they're gonna need an epic finale so I wouldn't be surprised if they go for something closer to like Terminator of the humans (with Mr. Garrison or Jimmy as John Connor) fighting the ads. Or maybe the Matrix, can't think of a recent sci fi with an epic war scene.

But at this point it's anybody's guess. But the ending of this last episode was a bit like "come with me if you want to live/learn the truth".

I wouldn't mind though if Leslie gives the 'tears in the rain' speech.

Rewatching some of the older seasons, I forgot the Kardashian Family including then Bruce Jenner were killed as the result of a guy reading Butter's Sequel to Scrotie McBoogerballs.

Perhaps thats why Caitlyn Jenner is alive this season since PC culture will tell you Caitlyn and Bruce are 2 completely separate people. Then again Kenny used to die in every episode and he always came back so....
 
These last two episodes have been pretty weak imo. Still good though nowhere near as good as the first seven were.

Naw... The new game is about the kids as their superhero personas, so if that was the case we would have seen Coon and Friends this season.

Also, the video game lead-in was funny as a joke once but it would be pretty boring to do it again when they could be making interesting stories for the sake of the show like they are doing currently.
 
not to mention the game is probably not coming till mid/late 2016 considering we've heard nothing about it since the announcement. Doing an ad joke this early on does nothing
 
Is this the first season where they've followed an actual narrative from episode to episode?

And my god the ripping on Jenner never gets old. I giggle like a little bitch every time she plows someone over.

Yeah I feel they experimented a bit with continuity last season, and have brought some of those references and jokes over (PC principal's rant in the first episode, gluten free beer, etc...).

I think the downside of the narrative is that we've had little involvement of side characters that aren't directly involved.

Like for example, why hasn't Wendy had a bigger presence? She's always been about equality and she's gone to the background. We don't even know if she's still dating Stan.

Heck the kids in general could have more episodes with them playing and stuff.

That it was still laugh out loud funny even after they used it four times in the same episode is extremely impressive. This season has been amazing.

But The Randy subplot... is there a deeper meaning to the entire thing with the town getting more expensive? is progressives being blamed for progressive american cities (San Diego, Seattle and so on) being more expensive?

They were still together last season. In both "The Cissy" & "Cock Magic" it was pretty apparent they're still together. I agree, she could have a bigger role this season; but she had some big moments last season. I think year is focusing on people that haven't had anything of merit for a long time, i.e. Barbrady.

It's just a bit more commentary about cities becoming too expensive, even for the middle class, as they become more trendy and gentrified.

Speaking as someone who lives in Seattle that speech from Randy hit REALLY close to home for me.

Recently there's been a huge flood of people from Google, Amazon, Facebook etc. moving to Seattle and rent prices are getting insane.

Nah, they're going hard on Terminator, though I suspect a stand-off is more likely than a reset. Also, those PC frats are missing, yet the computer is suddenly smart.

Could be TRON or Stay Tuned (or Terrorvision... ), if we're going with contemporaries to Blade Runner. But I seem to remember they've done that already. Yahtzee?
The Matrix was already a Jesus thing, if I remember things correctly.
Wasn't there something like this in the Heroes Reborn mini-series? (which was also already in the webcomics during the original run, but that's really fucking niche... )

They've also already done Akira, so PC frats combined into that is out too.
Hmm... what about.. .Screamers? Or if they really wanted to go to straight up nightmare fuel: I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream, but they already kinda did that with the human centipede thing.

Oh well, I'm sure there's something they can 'borrow' from. I felt that copying Ex Machina was actually degrading to this a bit, because it was "oh they're doing this now" for me. I get that we can't have Ghost Writer every week, but I often feel that the moments where SP fully 'borrows' the plot or form tend to be weaker because of it.

I had completely forgotten they were still together in cock magic. I guess that yeah, they've simply put it in the background again.

I just wish all of the kids had more episodes together. The boys vs girls episodes are always great.
 
Wendy's been sidelined this season because she's a progressive feminist who does things for the right reasons. Actively using her while differentiating her from the PCU boys and the townsfolk would be difficult because it'd require even more nuance in a season that already requires a ton of it. Accidentally getting a subset of viewers to think the almost-universally heroic Wendy is the same as those guys would be really bad.

Principal Victoria is showing Garrison all of the different variations of SodoSopa around the country and then shows him variations around the world.

Auschwitz' version of SodoSopa was "NoMoAuchie"
 
I really have no fucking clue on how this will end. I know that they will somehow return to everything being normal again but I don't have the slightest idea how they are going to pull this off.
I'm so excited for the finale. I think this will be the best South Park season so far.
 
There was some discussion on AV Club's comments for the episode that Leslie may be a virus or malware and PC Principal is the ant-virus. I kinda like that theory.
 
This is by far one of the top 3 seasons of all time, no doubt...

what an amazing season


I'll say this I love south park more than most things in the world, but sometimes i wish Matt and Trey didn't spend all their time with it....

just think of all the original ideas they could of came up with...

i mean of course theres Team America and Book of Mormon, but I would like to see Matt and Trey really do alot more original stuff

however the quality of season 19 can not be denied and am hyped for next season as well
 
I started chuckling at work yesterday. Someone asked what was funny. I couldn't tell them that I was thinking about "NoMoAuchie" hahaha
