Southland - Season 4 - Tuesdays on TNT

I have to agree on Lydia's case being baby related. They should stop that. The show has been really good this year, but I'd have to say last season was better. The storylines involving Sammy and Nate's death and the whole thing with Sherman and Cooper last year were generally more interesting than what we are getting this year.

Only posting in this thread briefly, as I'm still on season 2, but why did Amaury Nolasco leave after just 3 episodes? And they didn't even acknowledge it in the show!

Love this show! It's the closest thing to The Shield that's on right now (my favorite series). The only thing it's missing is a Vic Mackie character. This season has been great so far.

This show is so good... It's criminal.

YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Seriously though. This show won't get popular until its finally nominated for the plethora of Emmy awards it deserves, which won't happen until people start watching the show. Uh oh.

I dont get why it's not popular. What made The Closer so popular on TNT? Didn't she get nominated for awards and whatnot?

Every one of Lydia's cases has involved a parent/child relationship in some form. It's past the point of parody at this point. (The Community episode was especially bad, where all 3 cases had a similar theme.) Something bad's going on with the writing there.

Finally caught up tonight. I have to agree the whole mom thing with Lydia and all her recent cases being mom related is getting tiring. Wish they never wrote in her character getting knocked up.

I don't believe we know, which is really weird. Maybe it will turn out to be that young cop from last season? They kind of wrote him out without any explanation IIRC

Awesome episode. Now Sherman caused his partner to be in a car wreck and almost murdered by trying to help prostitutes. Next week's finale should be great. Here's hoping it gets renewed again.

Man if this shit doesnt get renewed I will throw the biggest fit. I hope this doesn't come back and screw Sherman over career wise. I don't want to see a subplot with him like, being put on trial or something for beating up that pimp. Having Lucy Lui do it is enough.

Speaking of, that plot is also coming along nicely. I love seeing John passionate. Hopefully he rips her a new one next week.

I really dont understand the 10 order thing. Is the show not doing great ratings wise? I feel like in the earlier seasons of the The Closer, that shit was on all the time, with new episodes.

It pisses me off that Lydias partner ran after the suspect rather then stay and have her back, not much of a partner imo. :P

Yea that irked me also. Maybe he thought Lydia was running with him? He yelled it but she didn't seem to hear or something. Just seemed like miscommunication.

That ending was great. Really excited for the finale. Part with Lydia was pretty intense. I was surprised she ended up alone too. Not sure what happened there. I think my favorite part of this season has been Cooper. He's been fantastic both dealing with his new partner, his addiction and just returning to the job.

Cooper is the best part of every season.

Let's not forget that SHE SHOULDN'T BE GOING IN ALONE. She knew he ran, then she just goes in with no backup. How many times is she gonna endanger her unborn child? You'd think she'd be a bit more careful.

Yup, though I thought that she didn't really know he ran? But then she never called out at him for help, so I guess she did. That was just stupid. I really hope the baby is gone...I just can't see them giving her a child unless they don't want her on the show as much for whatever reason.

Pregnancy in tv shows is always annoying. No matter what happens, it will drag down every plotline for her going forward.

I trust that they will make the best of it.

Loved Lucy Liu namedropping Apple Pan and Father's Office. Hipster burger joints out here.

It hasn't been TOO bad at least. It all depends on what happens next.

Liu has been naming hipster eateries all season long. It's actually annoying imo. Almost like they are trying too hard.

40 minutes until the finale. I've liked this season, but the characters were kept at arm's length. The same character traits repeated again and again episode over episode. Just seemed to stretch out themes we were already familiar with.

I think that could be a big problem with this show in the long run. Because it's so serialized, there isn't a ton of character development ala The Wire, or from what I've heard, The Shield. They have to keep the themes more or less confined to a few episodes. They don't really have room to have a big story line going. It might eventually turn into the same thing over and over. The key is to at least keep it badass I guess.
