I miss you so much.

Like any good relationship it was a bit slow first couple of episodes, but it all changed partially thanks to real bromance:

It had some AMAZING charachters, I mean, almost every major and minor charachter had an impact on the series (in a good way), a couple of examples:

Most bad ass villan(?)

Most bad ass Spartacus

... but closely followed by

No series is completed without the companions, which this series had the best!

... and alot alot more*

It also had strong females which also was super hot:

... and alot more**

This show has great fights, alpha males and dominating womens. Excellent charachters and superb story where you get very attached to the charachters.

So, everyone should watch this show... also just for the last episode which is one of if not the best tv show ending I have seen.

RIP Andy, to soon!
Just to show how awesome he was, click here

I just bought Season 1 and Gods of the Arena (the prequel season) on Bluray last week.
Best Buy had them on sale for like $25-$35. SO GOOD!

I'm sure I'll buy the rest of the seasons eventually, or maybe get them for a birthday or Christmas gift.

I just watched the show Arrow as well and Crixus has a role in that about halfway through. He's pretty much exactly the same as a modern day mercenary as he is in ancient Rome, haha.
His performance capture also really shines through as the white orc in the Hobbit.

One of my favorite shows of all time, just great all around. Also has some of the best action ever, leagues ahead of anything on TV and better than a lot of films.

Great timing for this thread. I just started rewatching Gods of the arena. Great show. Last episode brought up such strong emotions in me. Rip Andy.

I loved every minute of the show, was hooked since day one and enjoyed everything until the last shot of the credits.

I hope Starz consider a Caesar spin off or just anything in the same setting/universe.

RIP Andy

Fucking fantastic show and I hope any rumours of a Caesar spinoff come true.

Every goddamn time Manu Benett shows up on Arrow I pretty much go, "Crixus!"

So, was the season after Andy died any good? Couldn't bring myself to watch it.
Vengenace was a little dip because they had to replace Andy and the girl who played Naevia, but it was still good.

War of the Damned (final season) was soooooooooooooooogood.gif

Yup, loved it, even though the ending was spoiled before the production even began (lol). I rewatched the whole series last month.

Yep. And the last one was even better. The last few episodes of the show are arguably better than some of the best of season 1, I'd really recommend watching it, very fulfilling.

I was super bummed that Andy passed (as was everyone, very sad and tragic) and season 2 just wasn't the same for it. However, after awhile you get used to the new guy and he puts in a performance that rivals Andy's in season 3.

Is it? Hadn't watch it yet consider I didn't like how much speechs were are in vengenace.
And also since I know my history, didn't know if I could handle it :(

Oh, and yeah, I fucking love Ashur

Wow, didn't realize there were 2 seasons I haven't seen and that they had replaced Naevia.

Anyway, after watching the first episode, I figured the show was pretty shit. Waited till it was on Netflix to check it out again. I found I had made a HUGE mistake. Show is a masterpiece.

To be fair the first few episodes were kind of shitty lol. Coming off the heels of 300, it's hard not to look like a ripoff at first glance.

True fact. I watched like half of the first episode back when it first came out and thought it looked like a low budget 300 ripoff plain and simple.

Once they start using less of the more ridiculous blood effects (or you just get used to them, haha) it got a lot better.

Yeah, I thought the same thing. I'm not a huge fan of 300, so I just blew the show off.

That guy who is now on the CW's Arrow (forgot his name) has a small penis (as seen on this show). I was very disappointed after I first watched him on Arrow and heard the actor had a big following because of this show. :(

Crixus was his character's name on this show.

I'm not going to read this thread in fear of spoilers, but my wife and I are about 6 episodes into season one and it has been great so far. I'm sure she is growing tired of me calling myself the "champion of capua"

This show is amazing for many reasons. One thing I don't think it gets enough credit for is the portrayal of gay sex and relationships. It's not really highlighted in any way to make it stand out from the straight sex and no one is defined by the fact that they are gay. Dudes fuck other dudes and no one cares.

It still amazes me how the showrunners managed to get something so amazing from what is essentially an idea for a b-movie. Everything could've failed, and in the first three episodes - it did, but after that, it all came into place, and became one of the most entertaining shows I've ever seen. A simple fucking tale of honor, brotherhood and love, and yet, so meticulously crafted, to the finest detail.

Goodbye Spartacus, you will be missed greatly.

Society now should be like that.

Separate Paths is still my favorite episode.

I would have us free. Truly free. Do you really believe that Crassus will stop once you crest the mountains? That the Republic will let us quietly slip away? We have shown them vulnerable. We have shown them that a trembling hand can become a fist. We have challenged the idea that a slave must always know his place, accepting rod and lash because he was taught to accept it. We built their mighty Republic. With our hands and our blood and our lives. And we can see it fall, at equal cost. You opened my eyes to this, Spartacus. Do not ask me now to close them.

Just such a bro moment between Crixus and Spartacus

Also liked Agron and Nasir small moment too.

Nostalgia. Really love this show. I look forward to Caesar if it's coming, and Knight's new show if it gets the green light.

definitely one of my favorite shows of all time, right up there with breaking bad. i actually re-watched blood and sand a few weeks ago. i remember being in the car on a road trip watching the season finale of blood and sand on my phone. everyone in the car laughing at me while i was flipping out in the back seat. so. fucking. epic.

DeKnight is wasted on Starz. They should have green lighted his scifi show. The guy is one of the few who I think can do a scifi show that has depth.

i loved every season of this show. Especially loved season 2.

Exactly. Instead of relationship drama/issues between a guy and a gal, it's just two dudes arguing over the same thing. Nothing else is different. I can't believe this is 2013 and this is something that isn't already normal on TV (or society).

Amazing show. I can't believe I waited until the show was over to watch it.

The action, the intrigue, the characters etc. everything came together beautifully. Spartacus was such a tragic character, but turned into a utter badass in the later seasons. My second favorite character was Gannicus. I love supremely able and superconfident characters that aren't assholes.

I gotta say though. Fuck Crixus. Worst person ever. Him and his terrible wife.
I wasn't sad when he died. I almost shed a tear when they buried Spartacus though. :(

Also I could listen to this forever:

Second season was quite mediocre, but the first and third were god-tier (as well as GotA). Considering the smallish budget, Season 1 was absolutely fantastic once it got going.

One of my favorite shows of the last 5 years. Went into it expecting nothing but a dudebro-centric hour of blood, gore and tits. And, to be fair, that pretty much describes the first three episodes. But then it quickly found its stride and I was hooked. One of the few "dude" shows that matches the blood/sex/tits with compelling drama and a fleet of well-written characters and inspired performances (oh, and there was also plenty of penis for those of us who wanted it *.*).

The show was also surprisingly feminist.

Also, shout-out to having one of the best portrayals of homosexual romance on television:

Bravo, Stephen DeKnight. Joss Whedon taught you well.
