Seasons 1 and 2 are god-like. Season 3 is god awful. Season 4 is merely okay.

The original Spartacus and Batiatus really made this show. There wasn't a decent villain left after season 2. Crixus also became a mopey mess through season 3. The new Navea is about the worst character to ever grace a television series.

There was a shot in Season 3(Vengeance) of Illythia bathing that's lit in this radiant golden light. Never have I witnessed a creature so perfect.

Not a decent villain after S2?

Yeah, Batiatius was god tier, but Ceasar and Crassus was on the same level in bad assness.

Regarding seasons:

S4 >S1>S2>>S3

The prequel and first season are nigh untouchable.

The second and third season just fell flat for me. They lacked almost everything that made the first couple of seasons spectacular.

Batiatus was basically why I watched this show. Villains were always a lot more compelling to me overall in Spartacus though. Ashur saved Vengance for me. Haven't finished War of the Damned yet, but from what I've seen Crassus seems to be the most interesting guy.

I remember watching the first episode and absolutely hating the show. Glad I gave it a second chance a year later.

First couple episodes are straight up terrible, it looks super cheap, constant slow mo and gratuitous porno sex scenes, and yet it still turned out great. I don't know how they pulled that off, but I miss it already.

Also, eff the haters: Nu-Naevia is awesome, and probably the MOST developed character on the show next to Spartacus and Lucretia.

Seriously, if you think about who Naevia is when we first meet her, and the person she becomes by the end of the series, the development there is commendable. Seeing Crixus beheaded literally through her eyes is one of the most impactful shots in the entire series, right up there with Spartacus' "I. Am. Spartacus!" moment and Lucretia tossing her red wig off the cliff.

Those legs, looks like they would break if he walked.... pfft.

Well, I'm not saying she is terrible... well I am she fucking sucks.

Season 1 finale

and

Season 4 finale

are just fantastic.

My man.

Sigh...so so sad this series is over. GotA, BaS and WotD were all so damn good. Vengeance was merely ok, but still had a couple of cool episodes. Bringing down the arena was impressive for example.

And I really liked Ceasar and Crassus. Both are well written, honorable and badass antagonists. Not quite on the level of Batiatus and Ashur, but close enough.

Season 1 from (episode 3 onward) + Gods of the Arena is top tier TV. Absolutely phenomenal in every way that counts. Season 2 ranged from OK to pretty good. Season 3 was a return to form, but it never reached the same heights as S1 + GOTA, and the series finale rang hollow for me because I couldn't relate it to the show's early days. I didn't feel like I was watching the same characters or the same story.

I never got over Liam replacing Andy as Spartacus. The series would have been one of the all time greats if he'd beaten his untimely illness. RIP you lovely man.

I had problems at first to with Liam, but I think as the series progressed, it suited Liams style more then Gladiator Sparty, since Andy was more improvising how to tackle situations.

But yeah, Andy > Liam (but Liam did awesome work and grew alot for me).

He definitely came into his own in Season 3.

Remember how it felt like the creators were trolling all of us viewers by killing off everyone except Nu Naevia, and as she became more and more of an unlikeable bitch we thought the writers were going to finally do away with her, and she had some close calls where we were like "oh my god finally, this is it," and then she survived all the way until the finale, even longer than Crixus? Yeah, good times.

Love this show. I was playing Linkin Park 8-bit rebellion a couple of night ago and look what popped up in the background...

One of my favourite shows, so good. First few eps I wasn't hooked, but after the 4th/5th I loved it.

Andy <3

Crixus was such a badass.

I think I actually hated trying to watch this show. Everything just seemed so forced all the time, especially the dialog. "We will rape your women RAAAAAWR". Couldn't make it past the first episode.

The first two episodes are universally acknowledged as awful. They don't represent the show. At all. Watch 3 or 4 more and go from there.

One of the greatest shows EVER created!

Andy was amazing!
Liam is great!
Crixus..... damn... so damn good!

I backed the Kickstarter and I got this:

When that scene showed at the ending credits after final ep...

Brotears was shed.

What a great show. Incredibly multilayered for what could be seen as utterly shallow at a glance. Really enjoyed it.

And goddamn, I hope de Knight's Incursion gets off the ground. It should be awesome. I predict a show similar to Space: Above and Beyond. So keen!

Wasn't there a setback for that series or something? But I would love a sci fi where nothing is held pack (aka PG18 or what it is called).

TV MA you mean and yeah its on "slow pause" until they can come up with a affordable pilot episode.

I think it's just taking longer to put the pitch/pilot together. Really not sure where they're at, but fingers crossed. I asked deKnight on Twitter about battlesuits, and he said there's a chance they'll have them in Incursion, but it's hard to really go to town with a TV budget.

It'd be great to see him on an HBO budget, but I'll take what I can get regarding the man's work.

One of my all time favorite shows. Vikings is filling some of the hole left by Spartacus ending. I'm still hoping for that Caesar/Marcus spinoff series.
