I'm going to have to go with Punch-Out!! Wii now.

Not only has SurferGirl said it, but 1UP said something about it, too.

I'm expecting these things:

-A date for Kirby Ultra Super Deluxe
-Loads of news about future WiiWare projects
-Localization announcement for Card Hero (expecting it only because that game gained an English subtitle in the Smash Bros. sticker gallery while many other games still have their Japanese titles)
-A date for Pokemon Ranger 2
-More on Wii Music

Probably much, much more. Various unannounced projects.

more sales numbers

I approve of this idea. Nintendo can include their internal numbers (forget NPD's estimations) on all their own games, consoles, and Virtual Console downloads.

nintendo's been saying since 05 or so that their strategy will be to veer into what one may call "wii fit territory", so i'm basing my speculations on that. of course, it could be bullshit PR speak. or maybe with the success of traditional games (galaxy, SSB) on wii nintendo'll decide to stick with that formula. i have to admit the DS is seeing more traditional games that i thought it would get since nintendo's pledged "change in direction"

but really, it'd just be unwise in the /long run/ to keep counting on mario/zelda/ect EVERY console generation. sure, these games net massive sales. but if they want to stay in the console business another 30 years they're going to have to draw some different cards, and they'll have to start now.

To count on Wii brand games only would do the exact same thing. They ARE drawing different cards. They don't have to have LESS cards.

And back in 05? You mean when they were losing to PSP, PS2, and Xbox, and were brought out of that funk on the DS with Nintendogs, then later Brain Age?

DS is successful because of a balance between "non" games and "real" games. The top games on the DS are Nintendogs, Pokémon DP, New SMB, Brain Age, Brain Age 2, Animal Crossing, Mario Kart DS, etc. Almost half of the top selling games on DS are not "non-games", and looking at the Wii... 4.2 million for SSBB, more than 4 million for Galaxy (possibly approaching 5 million?), more than 4 million for TP (GC and Wii combined, IIRC), etc. Looking at the Wii brand, the only thing that did better was Wii Play, which is only successful because of the Wii Remote packed in.

Too bad we can't combine to help them present the most AWESOME charts of all time.

My real prediction a giant letdown and a gaf bitchfest.

Lock it in.
Ah, but you see, the quality of Nintendo's E3 presentation is best on even years. Check out the history:

2002 - Mario, Zelda, Metroid for GameCube
2003 - Connectivity
2004 - Nintendo DS unveil, Zelda: Twilight Princess
2005 - Electroplankton, barely any Wii info
2006 - Full Wii unveiling, Mario Galaxy
2007 - Wii Fit and Mario Kart
2008 - ???

WiiFit spinoffs will be massive cash cows, and yet cost a penny to produce. No one knows how to print money out of thin air better than Nintendo. And better yet, the industry lauds them for it.

But this is the NEW Nintendo! NO RULES! They will pat themselves on the back though and show youtube links.

I'm gonna present my insane theory.

2002 was the year of Zelda, Mario, Metroid.

2004 introduced a new Zelda title.

2006 introduced a new Mario title.

And 2008? New Metroid title.

Can anyone say Metroid Dread?

Also, 2010 will be new Zelda, Mario Galaxy 2, and a 3D Metroid outside of the Prime series.

It makes sense.

And 2009 will be Rhythm Tengoku 2.

But they had a new Metroid title announced in 2006 and 2004 as well

all im really interested in is seeing what miyamoto has been up to.

other than that, gimme a new pikmin, an on rails star fox, and a wind-waker style zelda.

If by 'thin air' you mean 'well designed software' then yes, you are correct.

Except for Mario Party 8, that was horrible.

Don't. Don't do this.

You're just going to cry when they show Wii Motosports and Animal Crossing, and maybe Nintenpets 2 for DS.

You'll hear nothing about Metroid Dread, because it doesn't exist.

That was their good friend Hudson though

Actually i can see a Nintendo branded pet sim being on WiiWare. It'd be awkward to swap DVDs just to take your dog for a walk. I know you had to swap cartridges on the DS, but that's easier and faster, plus the console was on the go.

If the puppy has to to stay at home, at least it'll be always on ur console, pooping on ur channelz :lol

Srsly they can do something cool with it. Mii interaction and whatnot.

You get banned enough times for being an enthusiast that contributes too often and watch trollocs run the show for long enough and it gets to ya. That and the realization that we'll never see my favorite 3rd party exclusives make the downgrade and that I'll have to buy an overpriced monolith.

Making banners would cheer me up though.

Ordinarily, I'd agree with your pessimism, but again, I can't see Nintendo launching their three biggest aces this early in the year without something incredible coming later this year.

i'll bet that they'll focus on the line-up of products due out for the rest of the summer until the end of September. that Hardcore surprise will likely be Disaster Day of Crisis due out at the end of July in the US, i.e., the next week, with a total media hype blitz. they'll probably give their general plans through December, but won't give any specifics until TGS and e4all. for the hardcore this means confirmations of games like Fatal Frame 4, Soma Bringer, Fragile, and ToS2 for US release, possibly Animal Crossing Wii, with nothing more than a tiny little clip of video footage for each, and nothing more until very close to release. Factor 5 imo is also likely to show and give some sort of tech demonstration, and even a small trailer of their Wii project (Kid Icarus?)

other possible, but unlikely happenings include, new Zelda Footage, Retro's new project, Pikman 3, that Monolith Soft Wii RPG, F-Zero, 1080, Red Steel 2, further Balance Board games, a new channel, etc.

Lots of assumptions here. Not saying that I disagree with the logic (they have to have something for Christmas, right?!), but it's a flawed logic indeed. You're basically saying that because they released 3 franchise games and you like them, that they couldn't have done that without something "incredible" coming up and that you're pretty sure you'll love it? I mean, you're thinking this rather than them nabbing some incredible 3rd-party exclusive, coasting on WiiFit's success, or something else as equally flawed?

I'm all for pimpin the banners and the franchise love but jesus that's some blind enthusiasm right there man. You have no freaking idea how much these people can disappoint you.

Why does everyone keep mentioning icarus like its going to happen? The franchise has no merit in today's industry from a creative or profit stance. Nintendo isnt atlus.

Wii

- Kid Icarus announced, trailer shown at conference, playable during E3. Comes out in November, graphics rival or surpass Mario Galaxy. HAL is the developer and Kirby Wii has been shelved for a while.

- Animal Crossing Wii is finally shown, graphics are surprisingly nice (the past AC games have been basically 64 games). Online mode is crazy, tons of features and is free, DLC will cost money though, comes out in December.

- Wii Music is shown off. Lots of different instruments you can play, motion controls are really well done, there's a lot more than just Nintendo songs in the game. Has an online mode where you can play with your friends in an Orchestra type thing, though very simplistic and no rankings. Comes out in September and costs $49.99.

- Wii Motor Sports is shown, has been completely revamped. New name, features a lot of different modes, all of them online. Style of graphics has been changed to a more realistic style, looks really good, Factor 5 is the developer and Nintendo is keeping a close watch on the game to make sure it turns out well. Comes out in October.

- WiiWare is the bomb. Nintendo announces Zelda Four Swords with 4 player co-op online, F-Zero WX with 8 player online racing, Star Fox Wii with 4 player online battle mode and online rankings for single player levels, Donkey Kong Wii which is a sequel to Jungle Beat and has 2 player co-op (Diddy is back). All 4 games are supposed to come out this year and will cost 1500 Wii Points each.

- Final Fantasy: Crystal Bearers and Tales of Symphonia 2 are shown off, Reggie says these titles are just a taste of whats to come from 3rd parties for the core gamer. Tales comes out in September, Final Fantasy comes out in November. Crystal Bearers looks awesome as hell, but is nothing like a traditional FF title. More of an Action Adventure game in the style of Zelda, graphics are great, no multiplayer, touted to be 50 hours long.

- A bunch of 3rd party casual games are shown, a lot of them let you use the Balance Board, but its not required. A few of them look pretty cool, but most are lame.

- Capcom announces that a Wii version of Resident Evil 5 is being made. Short 30 second trailer is shown, however they don't say whether it's a port or something else, very few details are let out. Comes out in 2009.

- Nintendo announces that new colors of the Wii Remote and Nunchuck will come out in the fall, and that by September you'll be able to play WiiWare and VC games off an SD card. Still says no hard drive is on the way.

Ugh... after that I'm too tired to type up predictions for DS.

Aside from Animal Crossing Wii, I'm going to blindly stab at F-Zero DS and Metroid DS

:(

never gonna happen >_> ;_;

No seriously, every other nintendo speculation thread I go into has people convinced that an icarus game is in the works. Reality check, nerds!

and now for me to indulge in fantasy;
Excite truck 2 at 60 fps with wifi
Dual wiimote punchout
Treasure developed starfox
Someone mentioned a top down icarus shooter... which indeed would be FUCK AWESOME
Rhythm tengoku wii
Pikmin wii with clay graphics
wiiware 2d super mario
wiiware 2d metroid (maybe...dread?)
animal crossin wii... gameplay this time PROMISE!
Pokemon snap ds with connectivity to wii version

I predict whatever Nintendo has planned will cause multiple meltdowns and continuing disgust from the haters. I also predict it'll be another multi million seller.

Oh, and that they'll debut a ton of new third party support all at once.

I HOPE Icarus doesn't happen...

Why aren't we talking about GTA IV! That's a definite, right.... Right?

Not IV, but GTA wIII. A combination of GTAIII, VC, and SA. All for $49.99 in case you somehow missed them the first time. No updates of any kind or bonus material but sporting some motion control. No IR pointing though, which leaves some baffled. R* says if it does well they'll consider putting GTA IV on Wii 2 in 2011. No promises.

I'd still buy it.

Cassamassina and Bozon basically confirmed that it's happening. Both seem rather sure of themselves. After Halo DS, I have no reason not to believe them.

I always thought that was a joke because they were sick of saying it was false.

Pikmin 3 in 2008? Forget it. Best case is that its a 09 title, if not 2010. Pikmin 3 probably just started development.

Yeah, because it suddenly just occurred to them that the Wii mote would probably work well with the game.
