Spelling Bee Champ = No a Champ at life!

WOW. I came in expecting this to be about George Thampy (sp?) and then I was gonna feel bad since he has some sort of issue beyond social problems I think.. but this kid is a piece of work. Hats off to the anchor for not completely flipping out.

:lol

They should make a reality show just following this kid around in his daily life. It would be a huge hit.

I love how he rips her, he only got it wrong because she pronounced it wrong. She should have cut his ass up.

"Hey Evan, how do you spell "lifelong virgin"?

I think they'ld make a lovely couple.

It's just a shot in the dark here, but I'm guessing Evan can at least spell the word "Not."

Haha, that kid is obviously pretty messed up. Mild autism or asperger's disorder most likely. Or he just never talks to anyone ever. Also I felt bad for him trying to spell that word because that host was totally mispronouncing it.

I'm tearing right here! :lol :lol :lol

I swear that, if for some reason I have an encounter with this kid, I will start a chat just to yell "Shit! There he goes again... CTRL+ALT+DEL" every time he "crashes".

... and then I would beat the crap out of him for being such a dork.

all of those spelling bee contestants are pretty weird.

Every time you see competitions for kids that are very smart, there are an unusual number who are just really awkward and bizarre. I'd never want my kid to be that smart at the cost of other important areas like sociability and likableness.

That kid is not going to be my boss someday, like everyone always says about these kids. This kid is going to help author my dictionary, but he isn't going to be my boss.

This is just one unfortunate outliner, I've meet plenty people who've been homeschooled (for quite a bit) and turned out perfectly fine.

Being homeschooled =/= this kid

Yes, there is no way that was the only factor, seriously :lol

Exactly.

People act like homeschooled kids stay in the house and do nothing, which is simply closed minded bullshit. Homeschooled kids can't go outside and play with other kids? Or go to social events with their particular homeschool group, or church?

As a former homeschooled kid who knows hundreds of them, I must say that I've seen no negative differences overall; yeah there's the "I can't play Pokemon because it teaches evolution lol" crowd, but they don't represent everyone

I made it as far as the kid asking if the anchor said his name wrong.

This kid is so awkward that I am too embarrassed to watch him.

It's a shame, too, because if he had any social aptitude, he would have led off with "So baby, what's your country of origin?"

Alas, I highly doubt blasting Zelda music will get me laid.
