They got shit for it. Now it's Sony's turn. If Microsoft blocks it again they will get shit for it. People tend to think it's all Xbox fanboys in here using anything to bash Sony but in reality plenty of us just want there to be crossplay and the common knowledge expressed by multiple different developers trying to make true crossplay work is that Sony is the one blocking it.
I do not understand the outcry when its unwarranted. Was this 'feature' promised when you paid for PS+/GOLD or joined PSN/Live?
(FYI below is not directed at you, generally speaking)
From gamer's perspective yes we have wanted this for a long time. I envision one day playing a COD like game where its XBox vs PS vs PC vs Nintendo massive multiplayer game. Sort of like Planetside 2. It just sounds like having matches like that would be fun, let all the fanboys bout it out and let others enjoy playing crossplaform in the same team. Sadly its not an official network feature from
any console maker. (We are talking PS x Xbox MP exclusively)
On the other hand, Playstation Network/PS Plus/ Xbox Live/GOLD does not have "Cross-platform" play as a "feature". How can you complain of something that is not guaranteed with the service to begin with? (again exclusive PS vs XB MP in mind, not PC)
The only way this "crossplatform"
issue (not really) to be solved is to have the 2 big guys (Sony and MS) come out and agree to have this as something gamers can do for the $60 you are paying a year. If its not a bullet point, then its like why are people jumping and screaming over this if its not something that was there to begin with?
Fortnite is only a taste of "what could be" if both Sony and MS agreed that the money you paid a year offered this type of multiplayer. Sadly they do not. I do not know the real reasons, it could be due to money, greed, not caring, protecting their base, not wanting to support competitor etc etc the list goes on and on but its the dumbest shit to act like its one reason and everyone jumping in on it. "Oh no, Sony dont want us to have fun. FOHDAPLAYAS! AmIrite?" *cringe.jpg*
No, to me it seems both parties do not have an agreement on this and will not do shit about it. Phil Spencer can say what he wants but will he show us proof that they, MS, want all games to be "Cross-platform" including PC or is he playing along? Is Sony's PR being genuine with the "safe guarding" of their base or just BS? To me it just sounds like non of them want to come together and work towards this. Blame it on Sony all you want but its clear both of them do not support this. They could make a big E3 announcement (think the "used games" thing Sony pulled) but it has to be clear that the $60 you pay enables it not "oh Phil said it, so its true".
Journalist should investigate why both parties aren't coming together. Why doesn't someone make a panel with the Sony and MS guys in stage and ask them the tough questions? "When can we play 'cross-platform'?", "Aren't we paying to play on the console?, why can't I chose who to play with"? etc etc.
Going after one group is not helping as the other party just idles in the background glad they aren't being asked anything. Makes them look like the "good guys" so why mess that up i suppose.
