Let's cut right to the chase. The overwhelming majority of people who are interested in this movie don't care who makes the suit. All they care about is that he wears it and kicks someone's ass. It's the same with the whole fake we shooter controversy that you only hear a peep about from comic Super fans.

it's the best way to communicate it's connected to the other movies for those that didn't see Civil War, especially considering this is a prequel to that movie
What's corny and embarrassing is people still complaining about them leveraging these films' connectivity in the marketing ten years into the game.
To be fair Sony absolute trashed the franchise.

Really hoping this film is genuinely good and not the usual filled to the brim with jokes and Avengers cameos / tie ins that Marvel seem to use a lot to hide the weak Villains and so-so stories. Also hopefully this movie is a proper Spider-Man film and not just Iron Man 4 featuring Spider-Man.
Civil War was very much a Captain America movie at it's heart.

The last three Spider-Man movies that Sony has put out over the past 10 years were considered terrible, mediocre and terrible in that order.
This isn't corny, it's good marketing.

There were some reports that it's a little bit of both, whether by way of flashback or pure chronology Homecoming begins slightly before the events of Civil War and ends afterwards.
