Spider-Man: Homecoming |OT| MCU's Sweet 16 - SPOILERS

Keaton might be my favorite MCU villain, he pulled off the bad guy with a heart thing with ease and when he refused to name Parker at the end you totally understood why. One of the rare times the MCU gives us a fleshed out human being antagonist.

Yeah, he was an every man that got worked by the system. I really liked how they set him up. It parralleled Peters experience with being treated poorly by Tony and Peter could have easily split off and became a vulture if he became bitter enough.

Loved it. Man that was actually really good. I don't think I liked it better than the first two Tobey Spider-Man movies. I loved the more humanistic side shown off for those movies. This one felt like not a lot was at stake at any time during the movie, but I enjoyed the clever pacing here.

And man, this was the best possible kind of movie for Spider-Man on PS4. Perfect marketing. That 10 minute video feels stale in comparison to what I saw in the movie though.

I wonder when we'll get the backstory on how Pete got his powers. Sounds like a great story for Spidey 2.

Cool? Maybe Marvel should up their budgets then since their movies make a bazillion dollars

I guess they could but this movie's quality doesn't hinge on cg effects because it's actually well written, unlike Amazing Spider-Man 2 and its absurdly bloated costs. The cg is basically the only praiseworthy thing about it.

Not sure if I was interpreting that scene wrong. I took it as Toomes not wanting to give Spider-Man's identity away because he wants to exact revenge personally, not because Peter won him over by saving him.

I hope not. We already had origin stories in the raimi and the amazing Spider-Man movies. He got bit by a spider. Uncle Ben isn't around. That's good enough and lets move on with other stories.

He mentioned in the car about saving his daughter this and he owed peter one. This was an extension of that. He saved Toomes life and thus he was repaying him.

How did he get bitten in this universe when oscorp doesn't seem to be around him in any way at the moment.

which frees him up to go after spider man himself now

it was a necessity that he save spider man's life before he could go after him again. that seemed to be a part of his code. probably why he has that smirk when walking away.

But he was 100% going to kill Peter once Peter came back to take him down. Any mercy he showed Peter was purely for that car ride. Peter did the exact opposite of what he said to do.

It rarely happens.

This isn't true. There are a ton of children who call their stepparents mom or dad. It depends on their life situations; who raised them, what's going on with the other parent, and so on. I know just as many people who call their stepparents just plain old mom/dad as I do people who call them something else.

Hell, my girlfriend calls her aunt mom since she raised her and her biological mother ain't shit. Clearly ain't what happens with Peter. It just depends.

I took it as the latter. He had a chance to kill him during the plane wreckage fight and didn't.

It was never Oscorp when he got bitten in the comics. That was Raimi's and ASM's version. It was a random science fair not too different from that Washington DC meet up thing.

As for Liz Allen, Liz-Allen Toomes sounds neat to me.

he seems to be a 1 for 1 kind of guy. him not killing peter when he found out he was spider man made them even because spider man saved liz. so after that he was in the clear to do whatever. then spider man saved him at the end so toomes owed him one. toomes not giving away his identity makes them even again so now he's free to go after spider man again.

Yup, picked him up to finish him and dropped him. Vulture even knew he was still alive and tried to take more of Tony's stuff. Could of easily sliced him in half and still have time to steal but he didn't.

Yeah, but then Peter saved his life at the end.

I think he conceals his identity for a bit of both tbh. It's murky, and I like that.

Definitely. I mean it's set up for Toomes to come back later and battle Spider-Man again, but him not immediately giving Peter's identity up is a great progression for the character.

the plot twist of spidey's origin is gonna be that stark intentionally had him get bitten after keeping up with him post-Iron Man 2 and seeing what kind of kid he was

stark didn't just make his suit he gave him his powers

Toomes didn't give up Peter because Scorpion is fucking crazy and he doesn't want Peter to die

If he wanted him dead, he would've been dead after the plane

I feel like him getting engaged really ruined his chances of making it out of Infinity War.

Nonononnono

That would make Stark the biggest asshole in the Marvel universe.
