Spider-Man: Homecoming |OT| MCU's Sweet 16 - SPOILERS

Say what you want about Paltro as a person, but I've always liked her Pepper.

She was looking good too. It was good to see get after her odd absence. She was in AoU too right?

And yeah I kinda can't stand Paltrow as a person and don't like her in most roles but she is incredibly charming as Pepper Potts, I'll never get sick of her and RDJ's amazing chemistry.

But RDJ has amazing chemistry with everyone doesn't he?

First time in like 6 years I've watched a 3D movie and man the format is terrible. I watched on a big screen and the moment I put the glasses on it's like the screen shrinks into a shoebox diorama. The first five or ten minutes are spent squinting and wondering if my eyes are going to hurt all the way through.

THIS MOVIE WAS INCREDIBLE. Tied with Spider-Man 2 as greatest Spider-Man movie of all time.

Also

The MCU timeline is so fucked just because of one single title card.

Honestly I think it might be this movie specifically. It's definitely the worst 3D I've seen in a long while, though my main issue was that it was too dark. GitS on the other hand looked great in 3D at the same theater.

I thought they could have done a bit more with the 'the big bad is your girlfriend's father' thing. Hopefully someone can change up the generic third acts we get in superhero films nowadays, no matter how interesting the films are, they get less so with the big fight.

What? The third act was great lol

I started watching Amazing Spiderman.

- 27-28 year old playing a teenager in high school
- they even had the kiss of death basketball scene after Catwoman

Good god what a trainwreck

The third act twist of Toomes being Liz's dad and the whole car ride to the dance was the best part of the movie.

For some people, fight at the end means the 3rd act is bad. Theyre superhero blockbusters not indie movies.
What do you? For everyone to sit down and have a good chat?

Not even that (Though I thought the fight and how it concluded was great), the whole thing with the Toomes reveal and the car scene was brilliant. I dunno what more they needed to do there, outside of maybe like some super awkward family dinner, but the car ride to the school did that anyways.

I thought the first one was okay, some potential moving forwardl. But ASM2 just blows it completely.

Sucks that they wasted a good Spidey suit on ASM2, because it looked damn good.

I liked the twist and the car ride, just not the fight with the plane. It's not particularly special or well choreographed, there better ones earlier in the movie. Once it got there you just know how it goes. It nowhere as bad as Wonder Woman's thiugh. I thought Peter would struggle a bit more about going after him, knowing that doing so would hurt Liz.

Yeah the "Amazing" Spider-Man movies series is just a pointless reboot that didn't need to happen nor did Sony have any idea of what they were doing...at least the fight scene were good and I will give them credit for going with mechanical webshooter and having Spider-Man using webbing while fighting.

Yep "Amazing" Spider-Man 2 wasted a good suit design and the death of Gwen Stacy.

I can't even say that it had a good fight scene as I barely remember the movie, as nothing happens throughout the whole movie.

It was nice to have a villain that could put two and two together. Not like Osborn remembering exactly where he cut Spider-Man and making a connection.

Don Glover was pretty good. That's Miles's criminal uncle, right?

The Pepper Potts thing was so weird in my showing, because the people behind me flipped the fuck out when she showed up. Screaming and gushing and "awwww"ing at the entire scene, straight through to the credits when they were dreaming about seeing her and Tony married in the next movie.

I just had no idea there were hardcore Pepper Potts fans out there who were missing her. When she stopped showing up in the movies, it was just kind of...meh. I didn't really miss her.

Oh well, good for the fans.

Not a hardcore fan, but I did miss her.

I thought she was fine in the Iron Man films, but those cut off jean shorts in Avengers...

Took me way back to my Shakespeare in Love crush.

100% disagree. IM3 explores the psyche of Tony Stark and his reaction to his near death experience in Avengers, which explains his actions in creating Ultron.
I don't know. We get the character development in Ultron with Tony realizing/thinking he/the Avengers alone can't protect the Earth. There's enough in there that IM3 doesn't really add much if at all to that. It also introduces the inconsistency of the suits being destroyed.

I could be biased though because I don't like it.

The only movies I'd skip though would be Hulk and Ant-Man.

Really enjoyed the movie, I'm still not a big fan of the suit design in it (Spider-Man 1/2 is still the best for me). however I do look forward to seeing him in the iron spider suit though (likely in infinity war perhaps?). I was kinda hoping at the end Tony would offer him the suit back and he would say "no thanks, i have some ideas for my own", queue a post credit scene of Aunt May walking in on him putting on the new (classic design) suit he just made.

I will say though, after watching Homecoming I went back and re-watched SM1 and SM2 (well 2.1 :D) and man alive does 2 still give me chills. It really is still one of the greatest superhero movies ever made, and i don't think anything is ever going to top the whole tower fight into train fight into train rescue sequence (its just so perfectly crafted together).

Loved Homecoming, easily up there with SM1 for me - BUT (and i know people will be mad at me for it), Toby is still easily my favourite Peter Parker/Spider-Man..

Just saw it. The Vulture is probably my favorite MCU villain now. Most of the MCU villains are pretty underdeveloped and flimsy in their motivations, but he had completely legitimate reasons for turning evil. At one point, his goons are watching the Triskelion cleanup and they remark about the conflict of interest about how the same people who blew it up are being paid to clean it up, and I just thought "Yeah, you tell 'em." He doesn't even have some huge evil scheme, he just wants to make money. When he kills
the first shocker, he initially only fires him, and then attacks him when shocker threatens him. Then he immediately goes afterward "I thought that was the antigrav gun? Oh well." implying he only wanted to beat the guy up, not kill him. Even with Peter, he flat out tells him multiple times, "dude seriously just leave me alone, I really don't want to have to hurt you."

Also lol at Tony trying to be responsible when he has the worst fucking security.
He sent a plane on a flight with no security detail or even humans on board when one of the boxes on it contains 20 arc reactors, each one having the energy strength of a nuclear power plant. The bad guy of Iron Man 1 tried to murder Tony just to get ONE of them.

He said that Michelle being in the movie and called "MJ" doesn't rules out the chance of Mary-Jane appearing in the movie.
I do hope this isn't the case, though. I want them to go all in on Michelle being the MJ.

With all the promo work Zendaya has been doing, I'm guessing it's because she's gonna have a much bigger role in the sequel.

Michelle is their Mary Jane. 100%.

i hope we see more of the prowler

i liked that he was interested in the alien tech climbing gear

He can't be Miles but he can give Spidey some trouble for webbing his hand to his trunk while there's goddamn ice cream in it

She spent 30 dollars on limes to prove people need more money for food or something.

The jade eggs thing is stupid, but the whole point of the 30$ on limes thing is that she was supposed to fail the challenge in miserable fashion (30$ for a week of food, no takeout/restaurants)

My favorite MCU movie so far, the tension of some of those scenes, the humor, the everything really. Such a good movie! More of this Marvel, looking forward to seeing if Black Panther is emotionally entertaining too.

I feel like you could get away with casting a mid-20s aged actor as high school Peter if he had a baby face like Tobey Maguire in the first Spiderman movie, but Andrew Garfield looked like a grown ass man.

What's even funnier is the fact that he was like 30 by the time Peter graduated high school in ASM2. Lol

I feel like the hipster Peter angle they tried going with in ASM was a nice idea on paper, but Garfield just ended up looking like a model for an H&M ad instead of Peter Parker.

What a chicken shit way to leave yourself a way out. If Zendaya is your new "MJ" then roll with that. Make her the best possible MJ you can. Make her different. Stop pondering and giving hope/false hope to please the loud vocal minority.

This whole post basically described my wife during the scene.

Idk maybe we underestimated the connection women had with her character. I thought it was cool to see her but my wife was like STOKED
