I keep one of these beauties at home. Her name is Millicent.

Nasty.

What you got there is the babies of the infamous Siberian Penis Spider. They weave webs of silk/polymer alloy, and can produce a web so tight that it can survive earthquakes and exceptionally heavy rain.

They usually hunt monkeys and small deer in their natural habitat, using their babies to identify new targets, who then release a high-pitched hum that summons mommy and daddy.

They get their name from their unusual hunting strategy, really a marvel of evolutionary development. They target their prey during sleep, and bite into their genitals, immediately releasing a strong anesthetic that numbs the entire area. They then open a small wound, and direct their babies into the organ, about two dozen, who bite the fleshy shaft away from the base, releasing small amounts of silk which aids the clotting process. Its really quite clean and painless so I hear. They never touch the testes, so the prey still has all their natural sexual drives, just with no penis to act on them.

Anyways, the family of spiders can survive off a whole penis for a few months, none of it goes to waste.

I'd advise you to move house, if you can.

Nuclear spiders. They will detonate if you kill them. Planted in your house by terrorists

Even scarier than penis-eating!

That's what cats are for. My cats are arthropod hunter-killers of the highest order.

Though I don't mind having spiders in my house. They leave me alone, I leave them alone.

Small spiders I'm fine with... bigger than a quarter and i'm going to kill you.. And I only have a cockapoo dog.. :(

Oh what I would give to get all the people that are scared of spiders to come into this thread and to see their expressions.

A mod should rename the thread title to something else to lure them in.

I almost did it, but as my first thread I didn't want to be the jackasss. lol

I've found that if you leave them alone, they're more than content to scurry back into the shadows where they belong. They hate being out in the open every bit as much as you hate seeing them out in the open.

Spiders are fun to watch. But thats only when I'm outside.

If they're in my bedroom they have a death sentence. I don't want anything crawling in my bedroom.

Ortho Home Defense Max. Spray it everywhere, especially around doors, windows, lower siding, cracks, outdoor water faucets, lights, and dryer vents. Also, spray under your fridge, stove, sink, toilets.

Doesn't hurt to grow a bit of peppermint plants if you can outside.

I've done that and we've seen 2 spiders in our house from spring until now. We have woods, a creek, and a lake all near us, plus our soil is always damp. Damn spiders are everywhere out here. GF's 29 and she's terrified of the damn things, spraying is like a religion. She reminds me day and date when it's due to get done again.

Bought a huge bottle with the pump on it, and sprayed last night, going to spray again today outside.

That shit is awesome! Ive used it for years now at both homes we have lived in. the prior one being a 30 year old house next to a big lake in the deep woods of East Texas. Never saw much of anything in the house when we started using it,

HE WAS KILLED MID SENTENCE BY SUPER SPIDERS THAT GREW A RESISTANCE TO THE POISON

It's the change of seasons here so the spiders are coming indoors. I saw one fumbling around the shower the other night, and noticed another crawling across the ceiling as well.

I need to take the air conditioners out of the windows in the other rooms and seal the place up.

My cats either have ADD or are just lazy as shit.

I wish they'd actively take care of insects, and not lose interest half way through the process. >:|

My cats are aces at killing them. They think they want to eat them, too, but then they try to swallow and spit them back out.

Every once in a while I get a cricket break-out from one of my containers (I have some reptiles, too), and I'll wake up and the room will look like a cricket killing field. Mangled cricket corpses all over the place. I wish my cats would develop a taste for bugs so I didn't have to clean up after them.

Lately my house has had a huge increase in the number of large spiders. Is something going on with the spider population this year?

Why do Gaf hate spiders so much ? or a proper question, why am I no afraid of spiders as much as Gaf ?

Do you live somewhere that gets a lot of big spiders? I don't mind them because I only get small ones here in the Uk but if I had to deal with monstrosities like the ones in this thread I would feel differently.

I live in a desert so not really no, we do have some of them that feed on geckos though they're rare. We mostly have small ones here.

Try this on for size. When I used to smoke weed I had been really high one night. A wolf spider the size of my hand suddenly was just there on my wall chilling. I tried to kill it (douche move) and it crawled into my AC vent. For the next 6 days I spent every night almost sleepless scared I would wake up with this thing eating my eye balls out. Another night and I am high as usual and there is the guy again on my wall. This time I killed it.

Still feel bad about killing it : (

No, but my friend's pet spider crawled on my arms once, it was creepy for a little bit but I got used to it.

Just something about not knowing if it's deadly or not, and it being big, while invading my space makes me go crazy..

I used to be the guy that says it's just a spider it won't hurt you.. as long as they were small.

Oh god. Why god why. Why.

I'm usually calm and collected when it comes to insects and animals, but this thread. Almost as scary as Kathy Griffin without makeup.
