Splatoon 2 Testfire Thread: This is a port...able game now

About 10 games in and I have maybe 3 splats that didn't come from specials and my team has lost every game by approx. 60-40. Lmao.

Much better with motion controls off holy shit, though a lot more 3 on 3 and 3 on 4's compared to earlier. Tapping out early on this test fire since I'm suppose to get up at 4am and my switch is dead. Mostly the latter reason.

I got various different error codes for the first 25 minutes, finally got onto the "waiting for players..." screen and people have been popping in and out of that while the timer refreshes for almost 15 minutes now

ugh lol

My motion control aim is just as it was in the first one - a hot pile of garbage. Had to turn off motion controls for at least the roller, but overall I did pretty well. Definitely have to get used to motion controls with the Pro controller.

Finally was able to connect. Played two games and won both. The motion controls are jarring and I'm not a fan, but luckily you can disable those. The music is really cool. Definitely hyped for the full game this Summer.

Is it bad if that was the most fun I had with the game? lol
But seriously kinda disappointed in the game. Didn't really catch me like I thought it would. Just got boring really fast. :(

That's too bad. 🙁

I think this is pretty much the best thing on the planet. 😮

The top person on my team got 24 kills to (I think) 2 deaths and 1956 points (winning team). I had 1955 points and thought I was doing well with something like 8 kills (as a guess) and 1 death. I don't know how someone can get that many kills. And that much coverage at the same time.

Had 40 minutes of perfect connection. Gonna bow out for the night.

It's fun, but a little samey. So far the Wii U game seems superior because of the GamePad. I'll be curious to see what else they add, but as of right now I am not sold.

Okay I'm totally a believer now. I knew I just needed time to get used to it. Game is dope, it's just so different from anything I've ever played.

Had so much fun in the morning and right now I've just been getting paired with bad teammates. Kinda sucks lol. Is there gonna be parties in the full release?

To each their own :D. I'm still getting it cuz I got it for a really really cheap pre-order price and it might be more fun with friends. I'll still give it a go tomorrow night when my friend is on and see if that helps at all. REALLY sux there's not partying up in this. That would help immensely!

Played it just now and yeah it feels like Splatoon! Dualies are a ton of fun to use once I got the hang of doing dodges.

What was my biggest takeaway was just how integral the Wii U gamepad was to the first game. The map is a complete downgrade here and distracts way too much. It is understandable because of the hardware, but I can't accept it replacing the old jump button. Many times I have tried to jump only to open the map and lose a firefight.

Joy-Cons detached: not feeling it; too overly sensitive and awkward hand positioning. It worked with Zelda but not with Splatoon (since you can't comfortably keep your thumb on the right stick while juggling gyro and ZR)
Joy-Cons in grip: excellent, but the sticks' decreased travel feels weird for Splatoon
Pro Controller: takes a bit to get used to but feels excellent. Just like the Wii U multiplayer (that thing where you take a Wiimote+ and rubberband it to a Wii U Pro Controller. It was all sorts of silly).
Handheld Mode: Literally the Wii U Gamepad but much more comfortable.

Loving it. Splatoon 2 is just as fun as I remember Splatoon 1. It's going to be fun fighting up the ladder back to S+ rank again.

My muscle memory has been making me hit X to jump way too often though, and not having a map at all times feels weird.

Its crazy to me that people are able to play/want to play with motion controls off. Have you guys played a game that had motion controls you did like? Did you try more than one match with motion controls? did you try split joycon?

Just curious why theres some people like me who swear by it and others who get really turned off by it.

I feel stingray needs to do more damage. Kinda sucks compared to the other specials

Yeah it's like the whaler but with less aoe but puts ink down I really don't get why you'd pick a set with it especially if you're already using a sniper class.

I'd rank the specials the jet pack > shock wave >>> missiles >>>>>>> stingray

I love motion controls

For whatever reason I've never been able to wrap my brain around how splatoon does motion controls.

lolllll

Threw the roller sticky grenade to a wall when I saw someone use the jetpack super, they flew right by it and died.

Wish they'd put in like some sort of veteran option or something that maps jump to x. The motion sensitivity was kinda too high for my liking, lowering it helped a lot.

I decided to try one round in just handheld mode and it worked surprisingly well, even with the motion controls on. Nice to know if I decide to play it elsewhere I won't have to adjust to a different control scheme.

the problem imho is the y axis disabling on the right stick. if it was a toggle it'd probably help out a bit

lots of disconnects but was able to play 3 full games.
I feel like I am playing Splatoon Deluxe (with harder controls) and not Splatoon 2. Hopefully the final games will have more new modes, guns, etc..
