for youtube, marie > callie
YouTube knows what's up, lol.

What a world we live in lol. I remember this time last year people thinking Splatoon would bomb. Now we have characters from the game performing a vocoloid style live show. That was dope.

I for one am glad I stayed up until 3am to watch this. The whole tournament was cool and the team I was rooting for won B block! The concert was also really amazing.

Miku is finally making tours outside of Japan, I wonder when one day we'll see the Squid Sisters outside of Japan. Maybe tour together, cause I'd love a Miku x Squid Sisters tour.

All the green sticks at that concert.
It's so hype.

Next stop is to have them actually be a pop group and release an official single, put them on the charts!

That was super cool, really hope they do something like it in the West! Especially if they found a way to give them new songs as a preview for a sequel or something. Maybe even the other bands.

I love how this concert happened the night I finally got to level 50 in the game. A perfect ending for me!

I smell the merchandise money Nintendo, and I know you smell it to.
Remeber when some people here said Splatoon was going to bomb and instead of that it turned huge?
Good times.

Super excited to see this kind of things in the Nintendo zone at Universal. Its a similar technology to what Universal already use for the Harry Potter characters in the rides, so wouldnt surprise me they do exactly the same for Nintendo instead of hiring people in costumes.

it's only noon here but i'm already sleepy... thanks splatoon koshien lol
will be quite hard for tomorrow since i wanted to watch finals but at the same time i also wanted to watch mitsuda's concert orz

The concert was great, Callie and Marie's animations were quite fluid, except at around the minute 18, when Callie turned abruptly after the song ended. Thanks kuroneko :D

Now, whoever recored and uploads on Youtube videos of the Day 1's matches is my hero.

Is someone able to make an accurate translation of this? I know this isn't really related to the Finals / Concert but apparently there's a Splatoon cartoon special in the works?

Seems Splatoon will get another manga serialization, this time on CoroCoro Special.
edit: heh missed your edit. was trying to see if this is a new serialization announcement or just a date confirmation

Its absolutely amazing that Nintendo have created more than just a game. They created a small social phenomenon the likes haven't been seen since probably Pokemon. (For them, not in general)

All hail our new Nintendo Garage Overlords. Here's to Spla2n!

They did their homework and it paid off immensely. Hopefully, Splatoon becomes a template for many IPs to come.

Could someone translate what Calie & Marie were saying during the concert? They must have mentioned how weird looking the audience was, what with them never seeing humans before.

It's hard with potato quality footage tho :(

I'll give it a shot, that can be my homework for the day

Opening Segment:
C: Hold on to your tentacles!
M: It's inkopolis News time!
C: Let's unveil the current LIVE stage!
M: All right!
C: That's a huge hall! I want to do battle here!
M: With this size you won't be getting done in three minutes though!
C: I wonder how many attendees we got?
M: I'm getting nervous...
C: Really? I'm just fine!
M: Eh, you were breathing really hard just earlier!
C: Ah, that was... just warming up excercises!
M: Alright, I'll let you off with that for now.
C: Ok, we should hurry up on stage now!
M: Right! Let's get pumped up!
C: Then let's go! Both: Staaaaaaay fresh!

Intermission at 8:15:
C: Once again, good evening! I'm Callie~!
M: I'm Marie~!
C: And together we're the Squid Sisters! Both: Staaaaaaay fresh!
C: We're Idols from a big city on the squid world, Inkopolis!
M: Yeah~!
C: We've come all the way here to Toukaigi2016 at MakuhariMesse for this Live show!
M: Clapclapclapclap~
C: Marie, do a pun!
M: You know how much I hate puns. They're punbearable! (Shock) (original: 無茶ぶりせんで, her usual japanese answer to that question)
C: sorry, sorry! There's really a lot of people here, though!
M: Yeah!
C: It's the first time we've ever performed in front of such a huge audience!
M: There's even more people than at Splatfests!
C: You're right! Well then, let's get into a Splatfest mood with the next song!
M: Let's go!

Intermission at 13:00:
C: Thank you everyone~~~!
M: Thanks~~~!
C: By the way, we're actually cousins!
M: The same age, even!
C: We've been singing together since we were small, we even won the "Youth Folk-Singing Contest" together!
M: Gramps was really happy!
C: After our debut there was a long time when it didn't really work out that well...
M: ...by the way, doesn't this hall kind of remind you of Walleye Warehouse?
C: Hahaha! Yeah, we worked there for some time when we were at the very bottom, right? M: We become really used to wearing that Mask and Hat look back then.
C: Yeah! But I'm really happy we get to sing on such a gorgeous stage today!
M: Really, thank you very much!
C: We'll pour our memories of those earlier times in the next song!
M: Please listen to it!

Intermision at 18:05:
C: Alright, our live show is slowly coming to an end!
M: Time flows fast!
C: The next one'll be the last song for today...
C: The Splatoon Koushien that was being held earlier was also really great!
M: Yeah, humans can actually battle pretty well!
C: I'm looking forward to the drama that tomorrow's country wide tournament might bring! M: But apart from that, I didn't even lose once today.
C: Hey hey! I'm getting better as well!
M: Yeah, I'm really impressed...
C: grml...
M: hehe~n
C: Well, that's how we usually are!
C: Please continue your support for us from now on aswell!
M: Please~
C: Then, for the last song, we'll go with this one~~~!
M: Let's get fired up!

Ending Segment:
C: Well, how'd you like the Squid Sister's 2016 Live? Did you have fun?
M: We really gave it our all.
C: Yeah, but I'm not tired at all! I wonder why?
M: Probably because we're used to dancing all day through on Splatfests?
C: That might be it! Thanks for watching everyone!
M: Thank you very much!
C: Let's meet again in Inkopolis the next time!
M: Yeah!
C: Then let's go once again with full energy! (sounds weird, I know, that's just how japanese is. This part is just their usually "show is over" pattern I guess)
Both: Staaaaaaay fresh!

The best things of Splatoon are that it is easy to get into, and its style appeals to everyone. It is astonishing to see many top players being female compared with other competitive games, which is a good thing.

I will surely watch today's live. Hopefully Nintendo will leave some surprises at the end.

Eh, yes and no. Casual gamers and nongamers struggle with the aiming when I hand them the controls. :/

Oh, I am meaning you don't need to be very good to win, like playing turf war. People can keep on practicing and progressing to be a good player quite easily. I didn't think of the control though.

I think I can be patient for Smash DLC so I'll just go all in on this. I hope for Ika Tako Business to clash with a similar team and they both exchange cards lol
