Splinter Cell Conviction thread of...no Spies vs Mercs confirmed :|

Love the style, details are nice, and gameplay looks to be pretty fun...but damn, it runs pretty shitty. Hopefully it was just the video.

I've only ever played the original Splinter Cell, which I found to be a loathsome game.

Conviction, however, has me intrigued. I really like the presentation, and the action and stealth both look fun, which is surprising for me to see in a Splinter Cell game (again, I've only played the original).

I'm really interested in this one.

I'm a bit surprised at all the really positive comments in here, but hey, if people like it, great.

I think it is the smooth presentation...maybe it was the way that the footage was cut but the gameplay-cutscene transitions etc were very smooth

Best game of e3 so far. Needs to be epic to top this, i was floored like i was when i saw MGS2 for the first time.

The presentation is unbelievable.

Falls AAA game for Xbox

That does look pretty cool.

For me though, its too actiony with red reticules for targets and such, but since Chaos Theory was such an amazing culmination of that original stealth design, I'm fine with them taking a different direction with the series. Can't wait to see some more gameplay.

i know. that's what i meant. not sure if i like it. he doesn't just shoot the lights. he shoots and kills people automatically. that was clear from the video.
He marked his shot before busting into the room. It's not that unbelievable, presumably he wouldn't be able to pull it off if they aren't standing still.

based on the HD video the framerate was shit, so here's hoping for major improvement there. (just sayin) that and texture quality seemed distractingly low in places.

I hated Double Agent, and nearly everything they had previously shown for Conviction, but this... This is bringing me back into the fold.

After the feedback from 2007, showing off Conviction at E3 2009 must have been really scary. Damn Fisher was brutal too.

I am sure a few mentioned they wanted a more Bourne Identity feel to it. :lol

Looks so fucking good, hot blazing, melting HAWT, HAWWWT.

It brings the fluidity of Uncharted's movement, but turns Splinter Cell into what it should be, the gaming world equivalent of Jason Bourne. Amazing.

I'm blown away, so fucking good.

I knew you would love that feel WrikaWrek. :D

Holy freaking cow that looks amazing. Wish I had a 360 for this. The graphics just look incredibly polished and the story seems great. This might cause me to jump in.:D

And it also looks like it plays itself. A Wrika favorite for sure.

Look whatever man, i'm too happy. The game looks insane, if it delivers on what they are showing then it just gonna blow me to Mars.

I'm like, What?

It's like the Ubisoft heard my prayer.

No, it's really that janky.

:lol

Dude whatever, it was super fluid and well animated. Not a surprise coming from Ubisoft, they have some of the best stuff in the Area, Assassins creed for example.

But the thing is it's not slow here, it's fast. Looks awesome.

God, so many superlatives here...I guess I've watched a badly encoded video. Can you provide a link to some high res trailer, anyone ? :D

o O...
The best I've seen is the one on Gamersyde.com
It's proper 720p resolution, but the framerate is pretty bad, either due to an encode, or the game really is like that. Animation smoothness really suffers due to that IMO.

What video did you watch? Gamersyde one definitely wasn't anywhere close to super fluid. In fact I had better impression of the game until I've seen that video (I've first seen it on Gamespot live feed during conference)

looks so fucking awesome. i love the way the camera transitions from little cut scene to gameplay. can't wait for this on pc.

I'm sorry, but it wasn't that fluid (see his walking animations for that matter). Some textures are really, and I mean really old-gen. And the characters are low poly. I'm not dissing, I'm just commenting on what I'm seeing.

I tell you right now, I've never been a big fan of this series, but that game looked to fucking awesome, just another game I'm buying now, damn I'm going to be soo broke!

Watching the demo on Gametrailers now and it does at least still have the SC vibe. Think the auto aim might make combat a bit easy, but it looked fun as hell at the same time. I loved it when he kicked that dude out of the window :lol

I love my Splinter Cell, and I loved this footage.

The story overlay stuff was really nice and Sam Fisher was a bad-ass for the next generation. Can't wait to get my hands on it, so happy they reset the project.

Although, it still looks like it's running on Unreal 2.5, maybe I'm mistaken.

Aside from an unfinished framerate, the game animation is top notch. I don't know what else to tell you.

The red dot autoaim looked sketchy when I first saw it but after seeing the footage on the marketplace, and remembering how stupid I thought V.A.T.S looked (Yet ended up loving it) I'm willing to give it a chance.

It appears you can only use the auto-aim feature when you're attacking from a hidden position, is that correct? Makes sense, as Fisher would have the time to plan out a few well placed shots, whereas in the heat of the moment you'd have to aim on the fly, more or less.

Looks like ASS

The SC franchise has always been yawn-inducing for me, but damn! this game looks phenomemal, very Bourne Identity-esque, I love it :D

I have to say, I've never liked the Splinter Cell games at all; they've just never been my cup of tea.

But holy fuck that gameplay looks incredible, Ubisoft weren't kidding when they said they went back to the drawing board after Assassin's Creed came out. The game is officially on my radar.
