Splinter Cell Conviction thread of...no Spies vs Mercs confirmed :|

looks so damn good. initially i thought it looked too easy, but that's probably because they wanted to get through it as quickly as possible.

If Gamestop is anything to go by, it seems like SCC is getting a delay. :/

edit: the date says 01/05/10 if you can't read it.

Also, apparently MAG is getting a delay too.

I see no SC in that list.

edit: ok I see it but Jan 5th would be dumb.

The standard pattern for SC games is that they often get delayed til the next financial year/quarter. I would not be surprised to see it hit in March.

although i'd love to plaky dis game this year, it would probably be better if it was delayed untill next year so that the inevitable bugs/fps issues can be ironed out

They don't want it to go up against Assassin's Creed 2, mayhaps? I would think that Microsoft would really, really want this game this holiday though so there should be some serious pressure on UbiSoft to keep the Fall 2009 date.

Gamefly is also listing a delay for both games. MAG was moved to the end of January and SCC went from a late October release date to a TBA.

Damn. :/

My wallet just let out a sigh of relief

Well, since it really only came back into the public eye a couple of months ago, I was always a little skeptical that this would make 2009.

Everything has been sent to die in early 2010.
What we need now is for some of these games to get bumped to fall 2010/early 2011.

Agreed, the delay to early 2010 just isn't long enough to let my wallet recover from fall '09.

Spring 2010 is going to be incredibly packed lol
Half of the delayed games will be delayed to Fall 2010. I don't expect to see Mass Effect until Nov. 2010 and have already made peace with it. No way in hell there will be all the games release in the first half of the year as they say right now.

Just sucks so much though. I was really looking forward to Sam Fisher this fall.

Really hope, the delay is just faulty gamestop info. Have really been looking forward to convention, love how the series has reinvented itself into a fresh new franchise.

Spring 2010 is going to be so ugly... Every game is coming out up into that period.

MAG, Bioshock 2, Mass Effect 2, Splinter Cell, White Knight Chronicles, Heavy Rain, God of War 3, Final Fantasy XIII.... goodness.

This as well as Bioshock 2?
Shit shit shit shit shit balls shit.
And Mass Effect 2. And Dante's Inferno. And Battlefield: Bad Company 2. And those are just EA games that I name off the top of my head. Not to mention all of 2K's catalogue. Sad indeed.

Mass Effect 2? How the hell did I miss that news? Twating shit with an extra serving of balls...

Q1 2010 was meant to be my Heavy Rain and God of War 3 time.

mass effect 2 was always mentioned as a 2010 release

Don't forget Alan Wake.

I'm pretty sure there are more high profile games coming out Q1 2010 than in Fall 2009.

Oh ok. I thought it was due around December 09.
Conviction and Bioshock 2 were my two most wanted this year. If Assassin's Creed 2 gets pushed back I'm going to throw a hissy fit.

And crackdown 2 and the Halo Reach beta.

I think Crackdown 2 is a likely candidate for a late 2010 release, and we know Halo Reach is already slated for Fall 2010.

I've only just pre-ordered Splinter Cell: Conviction to replace my BioShock 2 pre-order when that moved to 2010, hopefully Conviction is still on for this year. If not, maybe I'll pre-order Forza 3 instead.

Seriously, all my concerns about budget for Q4 09 are quickly disappearing. Other things (like Bioshock 2) being pushed back had already moved SC from a "look for a deal around the holidays" to a day 1 for me, and now what?

Looks like it's just Brutal Legend and Scribblenauts as day 1 for me in Q4. (Well, also Layton and The Beatles, because who am I kidding.)

:lol What? Even splinter cell is being pushed?

I thought it was a definite release in 2009, or is this just speculation based on some game pre-order site( I mean the tout to 2010)?

Yeah... I'd rather them delay a game that isn't quite finished over rushing it out the door prematurely -- only to have the same people calling for "no delay" turn around and shit on it for being a buggy mess "that had so much potential"

What's the damn rush?

probably a typo, but still :lol worthy

The only thing that I feel is missing from the game is the animations to convey the actions (and I think they confirmed that those were just placeholder animations). Other than that, there wasn't much needed for the move to 2010. On the other hand, there was no hands-on preview from any game site (if there was, forgive me for the mistake), so we don't know if the move was due to technical problems or anything else (assuming that the move is real).

I don't care about delays. I have plenty of games i still need to catch up on and a tone of games i'm interested in this fall. If games get delayed i really don't mind.

True fact. To be honest 2009 is the year where next-gen finally became current gen for many gamers (in terms of justification).

New walk through http://kotaku.com/5369328/splinter-cell-conviction-impressions-more-panther-less-grandma

Before I had gotten my hands on the game, Beland and a colleague had run through the same level. They'd reached a more advanced area that did an even better job of showing how Conviction's maneuvers need to be used in combination. Fisher had come across a room dug-out in the middle of the floor. It was no bigger than a bus and it had no ceiling. There were three or four guards in it and it didn't have many shadows in which to hide. Fisher could easily mark all of the guards from above, but he'd need a melee kill in order to execute them. He could drop into the room and just start fighting or shooting, but the guards would overwhelm him. The solution to the problem was to mark the guards, then activate a flash bang to stun them all, drop down and melee one of the guys during the confusion, then… execute the rest.
