Splinter Cell: Double Agent Screen (X360)

Although its definitely achievable, no debating that, does it not look like artwork because of the way the colours band together?

I dunno, there's some pretty discernable polygonal edges there in the terrain fwiw. Looks like the "interactive cut-scene" the devs were trumpeting.

Anyhow this looks gorgeous to me. Some of the shader effects are really nice looking, especially the reflection in the window and the glare off the riot helmet. As usual most of the visual effects wont have their true impact until you see it in motion, particularly things like the snow fall and the way light reacts to the various surfaces.

Looks pretty good, expect more from the next SC graphically though (Ubi Montereal, save us!)...but this will do for now. Just as long as the gameplay is as good (or hopefully better) than the awesome SC:CT, I'll be happy :)
 
Has good graphics, but Splinter Cell has always been boring to me. Too much trial/error gameplay. MGS just rapes it in style, story, and gameplay.


Maybe when I found out how the GAMEPLAY has improved for 360, I'll change my mind.
 
They look nice, it's just not "there" yet. I don't get the classic splinter cell feeling from this one. These screens just don't give out that Splinter Cell anticipation feeling I got with the other games. I hope Shanghai doesn't screw up like they did with PT.
 
i'm personally dissapointed with those shots but i think there is still hope for greatness,
at tgs advanced warfighter looked like crap,but now everyone is saying GRAWWWWW :lol

Totally *not* impressed by those obviously doctored "screenshots". And the few ones which seem real-time aren't that great either. Lighting, geometry, textures... It's not ugly at all, of course, but man this looks like a damn port. Where is my next-gen fix ?

play chaos theory. the story there (the overall writing) is almost as good as any MGS game.

I don't see what's wrong with playing both these series. Everyone wants to take a side but I think it's obvious that both the Ubi team and Kojima's guys play off each other and probably appreciate the competition. Shit, I wouldn't be surprised at all to see everyone admit that they own all the game in the other series.

What's wrong with disliking this game? I never played the newest one, but in the other ones when you get to the later levels it can be brutally un-fun. Everything felt so "set-up" to me and I couldn't get into the story at all.

We don't mention the
MGS series
in Splinter Cell threads, things always go horribly wrong afterwards.

I think you have the gameplay thing backwards.
 
Looks good, but nowhere near the same ballpark as those Halo jump CG images everyone was saying was realtime.
 
This looks amazing. what the hell are you people smoking?
If they got those kind of graphics running at 60FPS, it will look pretty fucking sharp.

It also looks much better than GRAW. (from a technical point of view)

Exactly, I liked SC1, thought SC2 sucked but CT was just incredible. Especially that Bank Heist/Computer Hacking mission, so fucking hot.
 
it's probably a good sign that i can't always tell what's concept art and what's a game capture. if they're real, the parachute landing and the execution scene look really nice.
 
I think Ubisoft's Splinter Cell teams have done a pretty good job with stuff like lighting this generation. In fact, they might be one of the best in this area. So if nothing else, it should be a game with some striking uses of lighting and shadow. And of course, it's coming to every platform you could possibly be a fan of.
 
i think these screens look great for early work. if the game is releasing in fall they still have alot of improvement to throw in.

i expect SC to outshine GRAW graphically. hopefully a vid is shown at E3.
 
I think most of the negative reactions come from the fact that Splinter Cell CT on XBOX looks just as good. It really doesn't seem like that much of an improvement over Chaos Theory.

This is one of my favorite franchises and Im definately not impressed. It still may be a good game but I havetn' been too enthused with the setting/plot either.
 
wow, these screens are so clearly doctored. the AA looks super smooth. we should know by now that the 360 can't do this kind of AA.

anyhow, they do look nice. but there's nothing particularly "splinter cell" about them. they look a little generic. no atmosphere, no amazing lighting. i'll wait for real in-game shots with HUD and everything - because that's how we're gonna play the game, right?

wtf? because they ARE NOT real! NOT REAL NOT REAL NOT REAL. this is not what the game will look like. it's not. period. it's TOTALLY obvious that they're doctored. i really expected that at least gaffers could tell this.
