I'll try to check out as many of them as possible.
i found Darker Than Black episodes fast so i'll have a watch when i get home from work.
How many of these shows are fansub and how many are retail?
Thanks again
Shouta said:10 is being edited and I'm going to work on 11 today or tomorrow. I would definitely wait for a good sub because the episodes have a lot of dialogue in them.

I just started watching Now and Then, Here and There. I'm a bit afraid of seeing the.rape scene.. or even a reference to rape. That kind of stuff gets to me >_>

Branduil said:It's not explicit, or even shown. In fact this is possibly the only anime ever that deals tastefully with the subject.
DarknessTear said:I saw it... it's still ****ed up.I mean who was it anyway? I figured it'd be the King. Oh well.
Branduil said:I think it was just some random soldier... they should explain a little bit more why they did that, later.
Awesome show it is,that is gonzo for ya,Awesome at making New shows but suck at making sequals/adaptations.DarknessTear said:Yeah I saw him again. Moment of joy when she killed that soldier who was trying to impregnate her. I have 7 - End left to watch. Pretty darn addictive show.
Yeah, that's why I stuck with the manga instead. Naoki Urasawa is your typical cliff-hanger type of mangaka.. he does some great and epic stories but sometimes it just keeps dragging on and on in certain situations. Having to deal with that through a 70-odd episode anime would kill me.icarus-daedelus said:Monster is really boring for a while, just a warning.

Zalasta said:Hmm...I can see why, but I disagree with it. I thought Monster had one of the best and memorable supporting cast I've ever seen, even though some of them only appeared for one episode. Every character Dr. Tenma encoutered fleshed out the overall plot just a little more, there were no fillers to speak of. Could the show be shortened? Probably, but I'd be hard pressed to say what can be cut without affecting the story.

I'll certainly second Eureka seveN. The thing that really distinguishes Eureka is its character work. The characters at the beginning of the series are COMPLETELY different people from the way they are at the end, and it's done really naturally, subtly, and brilliantly. A lot of people will point to the episodes around the middle of the series especially as a high point, because that's when a lot of the progressive and subtle development that had been happening up to that point really begins to become really clear. When the show is at its very best, the animation can be INCREDIBLE for a TV anime series, and the soundtrack is really really awesome with a pretty cool mix of various genres of techno and extravagant orchestral scores.DOBERMAN INC said:Can anyone give me some good new anime recommendation's? I have been out of the loop for around 2 years now.
I'll watch almost anything with an okay story, but i don't really enjoy the school shows, and i love things with great senses of an atmosphere and music.(noir is a fav of mine and Gunbuster)
cheers.

Bebpo said:Bokurano ep9 was really good and was the show at its best where the director (who knows what he is doing) makes a nice family show that everyone in Japan could watch and appreciate together out of a manga that is sick and twisted. Very, very tastefully executed and touching at the same time. Good ep.
Another NHK or Haruhi? Not sure how they go together, but the closest thing to that this season is probably Hayate no Gotoku! (and that's not really close to either one of those at all).akachan ningen said:Does Dennou coil get better? I saw the first ep and it had nothing for me. I like the design but that's pretty much it. That one action scene in it wasn't exciting in the least.
I didn't like bokurano, darker than black, or sola. Is there anything you'd recommend? I was hoping for another NHK or Haruhi.
MetatronM said:Dennou Coil isn't an action show, so I don't know why you'd really expect it to be super thrilling. It's very Ghibli-like, if you ask me. Just sort of whimsical and creative and really well put together. Still, it does get a LITTLE more actiony towards the end of the second episode and into the third (emphasis on the little), so if you wanted to give it another shot, I'd say try to get through episode 3 and give up if it's still not doing it for you then.
Fireblend said:I must say I'm really enjoying Dennou Coil. The plot's not particularly epic but it's definitely very entertaining and the production values are great. I see there's now a lot of groups subbing it btw, any recommendation on which one I should check out?

Otherwise, if it's excitement you want, you should be watching Gurren Lagann. If you like fun (and who doesn't?), that's the show that's overflowing with it this season.
And if you only watched one or two episodes of DtB, I would recommend you go back and watch a couple more episodes before making a decision on it, as it does seem to get more and more intriguing with each passing two-parter. Unless, of course, you absolutely and totally hated it right off the bat or something, in which case don't bother, it's not your show.
Branduil said:I completely disagree. I think the show is getting better and better.
Shouta's subbing Gurren. Do a Google search for "anime in action." Either of the first two links should work.akachan ningen said:I want to see Gurren, but I couldn't find the first episode(on the two sites I checked so far). I'll check some others out.

They're sending out C&D letters because Viz is trying to start their own subbed download version. Which means they're trying to be in the same online market with the same target consumers (theoretically) as the fansubbers. The only difference being that Viz is the only one with the actual right to be delivering that product to that market in the first place.Defuser said:Oh great,Viz media are being dicks and send out C&D letters to DeathNote fansubbers with only 2 more episodes left. That doesn't change the fact that Viz is the only one with the right to distribute it, and they can do as they see fit with it.kassatsu said:fixed.
I don't think people who download the fansub will be the same people who will download a subbed episode with drm up the ass for a price. But that is just me.
