I'm on T-Mobile and was kind of hoping for a merger ran by Legere, which was going to be the plan. Good thing Sprint is getting rid of Hesse though. Guy was horrible at his job and make a ton of fumbles during his run.

Doesn't T-Mobile have a thing where they pay the ETF?

They actually want YOU to pay for your carriers ETF
upload of copy of the ETF charge on your bill onto a website
then they Re-imburse you the amount your paid for ETF a weeks later after you start your contract with them.

when i found that out, i just said ill wait until my contract is up then make the switch.

lol both Sprint and TMob have horrible service. I'm glad this deal fell through but Verizon still would've had the top spot if it didn't.
I hate when people say this. It's such a objective comment for a very subjective topic. Just say T-Mobile has horrible service where you live.

I've had them NY and they were fine. I'm in L.A. county at the moment and I have to say their coverage is way better over here. Full bars everywhere go.

That's not really the problem with T-Mobile, though.

I live in a big city, like the majority of T-Mobile's subscribers, but occasionally I need to leave the city for work or to visit friends or family.

I'm not asking T-Mo to fully match Verizon's coverage, especially if it would require them to turn into a piece-of-shit company like Verizon. But if they could at least beef up their coverage along interstate highways, that would be super helpful and eliminate most of the issues I have with their service.

That said, I am very much a fan of T-Mo have no intention on leaving any time soon. The $30 plan is unbeatable.

I'd love for tmobile to improve their network coverage, but they've been operating to make themselves more appealing for a buyout. If they don't get one, I wonder if all these great policies will bleed them dry.

They are adding more customers than any other carrier and just announced earnings on Thursday that far exceeded wall street expectations.

I'm a bit perplex regarding Iliad's offer..

I mean, solve your problems in France before trying to expand in the US..

Love how the regulatory burden is too high in a market where there actually is arguable, if limited ,competition, but in one with nearly no competition Comcast is free to continue amassing power.

Horray!
Although I wouldve liked to see them try and fail at the regulatory challenges just so that they can pay T-Mobile a crap ton of money and to see what they would do with it.
Like what happened with AT&T.

DT would just pocket it, just like they did with most of the AT&T money.

DT is going to sell T-Mobile at some point. Everyone knows they want to, so it's a matter of when, not if. The question is just how the buyer is going to change the company.

Good.

I want T-Mobile still in the business so they can still ruffle the feathers of the others.

Plus I'm pretty sure my next phone is going to be with T-Mobile. Verizon pissed me off too much when I upgraded my phone.

Wow, I didn't know they were even in pursuit. I left Sprint for T-Mobile several months ago with a $140 ETF. Horrible company, crummy data service. I can't believe they're still in business in my area. Late last year their data services essentially became unusable.

Sprint is straight garbage. I'm in MD which Sprint says they have lots of LTE coverage for and their speeds are pathetic. I couldn't even get a speed test done because it could never find a server.

I was so happy I switched to T-Mobile

Core reason was FCC didn't approve the joint bid between Sprint and T-Mobile for the 600 MHz block spectrum, so SoftBank cancelled the deal.

FCC's action confuses outsiders since AT&T + Verizon, the biggest wireless telcos, both already have a huge chunk of spectrum, and the T-Mobile + Sprint spectrum deal was disapproved because it would hinder competition.

What a joke, Tom Wheeler. The upcoming auction bid is to distribute the 600 MHz spectrum evenly among the competitors, but when you already have two big conglomerates sitting on a whole bunch, then the newcomers will get nearly nothing.

I suppose plan B is to use the cancelled deal money to bid for more spectrum and improvements.

As for T-Mobile, they might be hosed long term as Deutche Telekom doesn't seem to have an exit plan for now.

Sounds like they didn't have enough money to lobby against the big boys, who are lining Tom Wheeler's pockets. Why will he let the Comcast/Time Warner deal go through?

Tom Wheeler used to be the head of the cable lobbyists, and the cable industry highly praised Obama's appointment back in May 2013.

No coverage even on interstates? Even here in Missouri I have tmobile on all the interstates. It's edge only but supposedly that's changing by the end of next year finally

Well, yeah, I can get EDGE service fairly often on rural stretches of interstates here in Ohio, but it's pretty much unusable.

If they can bump that up to at least 3G I'd be pleased.

I remember reading an article they would be upgrading all edge towers to 4g starting later this year and finishing by the end of 2015. I'll see if I can find that info

edit: Found it
