Square: Consoles & Physical Media Out, DD and Server Side Gaming In

I don't mind DD, but there still has to be a physical thing to download it into and actually play it. Plus to keep costs down you'd need a unified platform, and a standard input... I have no problem with a one-console-future where an international committee meets to create the unified standard, and then manufacturers compete for non-essential perks - but pragmatically there's always (with current technology) going to be a need for a standard box. Physical media I see as gone, but not until solid-state is more prevalent and high-speed communication perfected.

What happens when a friend wants to borrow my game for 2 weeks?

Your friend will have to pay full price for the game like the rest of us, or will have to travel to your home to play it.

Win for game companies... lose for consumers. That will be the mantra of gaming in Wada's vision.
