At this past E3, Square Enix said Final Fantasy XIV would launch on PlayStation 3 and PCs. Looks like an Xbox 360 version is in development too.



A staffer at Square Enix Japan let the proverbial chocobos out of the stable. In her Linked In profile she notes Final Fantasy XIV is a PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 title. Whoops! An Xbox 360 version hasn’t been announced yet. Honest mistake or a slip of the tongue?



Akama also says there are lines currently working on The 3rd Birthday and Final Fantasy Agito XIII too.

I have got to admit that I thought this would never release on the 360, Sony and SE are nothing but liars. Versus to 360 is a given now so I'm not going to look forward to that game anymore, SE can't show the full power of the PS3 now. IMO FFXIII Agito looked the most interesting of the FFXIII titles anyway.

Honestly, this doesn't seem like a confirmation that the game is going to 360. Chances are that it will anyways, but just because she worked on lighting for it doesn't mean that it'll come out the door. As someone else said in the official thread, SE could be working on it in hopes that MS changes their policies, that way they don't have to work on porting it over and can just release it.

And PlayStation 3 will be the only console you’ll be able to play Final Fantasy XIV on, when it launches in 2010.

So unless the 360 version launches on the same day as the PS3, then Sony haven't lied or misled.

Square-Enix just shot themselves in the foot.

I don't know how much the rest of you know about Japanese culture (I'm an expert), but honor and shame are huge parts of it. It's not like it is in America where you can become successful by being an asshole. If you screw someone over in Japan, you bring shame to yourself, and the only way to get rid of that shame is repentance.

What this means is the Japanese public, after hearing about this, is not going to want to purchase Final Fantasy XIV, nor will they purchase any of Square-Enix's games. This is HUGE. You can laugh all you want, but Square-Enix has alienated an entire market with this move.

Square-Enix, publicly apologize and cancel Final Fantasy XIV for Xbox 360 or you can kiss your business goodbye.

You could use your PC account on the 360, and vice versa. Pretty sure it didn't require Gold either.

And this is seriously a surprise? Even Jack dodged the issue by saying at launch it would be the only console to host the game. Time exclusive but 360 gamers were never meant to be left in the cold.
