Square Enix Has a "Little Surprise" This Week

The only good thing that will come from this thread will be the tears that people shed from a disappointing announcement!

I'm with you guys. Please oh please let it be something good

Really, I would settle for a free "Cutscene Theater" DLC for FFXIII. :lol

I want this one :(

Only FFX and FFX-2 had one though IIRC (and FFXI but you you have to visit the specific area of the cutscene).
FFXII had no excuse (one disc, already introduced in FFX), FFXIII as well (or maybe they wanted to make both versions feature-identical and it would be fractured on the 360 version due to multiple discs?)

The way SE has been going these days, this will be a multi announcement:

- FFXIII Versus is going multiplatform, with 6 different versions, including the iPAD
- FFVII remake finally announced and launch it on all those same systems, about 3 months after the Versus
- KH3 will be announced as a 360 timed exclusive, although it will be ported from PS3 (M$ gave they a nice rights fee for it) they will claim that is has "Storage issues" so it will start mid story and a DS port will pop up to fill in that time gap between.
- New versions of FF Tactics will pop up on the Wii. Then ported to us the PS Move and Natel.

:D :lol :lol :D

How much y'all wanna bet?

Too much going to HD systems. Make it FFXIII moving to 3DS, FFVII remake DS and iPhone, KH3 PSP exclusive (no PSN version for Go owners), and one new FF Tactics going to PS3/360... as a downloadable release, with graphics basically the original game but upscaled.

That sounds more plausible.

little suprise huh? SE is going to announce that they are going to actually make good games from now on forth. They kinda have been lacking in that department for the last 10 or so years. :lol j/k.......
not!! :(

TWEWY disagrees.

given that 'huge surprise' these days usually means like a countdown to a website upgrade, i dread to think how inconsequential a 'little surprise' is, maybe a final fantasy xbox theme or something.

Final Fantasy Tactics A3... this needs to be done

Meh. I want another game, but it would be way more of the same. Rather them just wait for the 3DS not because of the 3d, but I just want higher res sprites.

Maybe they'll localize that Sakura Note game...

Obviously I have no idea whatsoever how those kinds of things work.

Maybe they should just go ahead and announce Nanoshi no Game for the US already, huh?

I didn't say that they didn't make any good games, but for a company with the pedigree that SE has the output is really subpar. In the snes/psx days they were one of my favourite developers. Nowadays I rarely buy any SE games outside the mainline FF's.

As does FF13.

Each to his own I guess. But again naming a few games doesn't prove me wrong. Imo a company like SE should have at the least published somewhere around 20 "good" games in the last 10 years. To put that into perspective, Sony managed to do that in like the last 2 years.

Published? That's easy.

Arkanoid DS
Space Invaders Extreme
Just Cause 2
TWEWY
FF11
FF12
FF13
FF Tactics A2
FF Crisis Core
FF Tactics: War of the Lions
Mario Hoops
The Last Remnant
FF Crystal Chronicles
Dragon Quest VIII
Kingdom Hearts 2
Supreme Commander
Supreme Commander 2
FFCC: My Life as a King
FFCC: The Crystal Bearers
FFIV DS

That's 20 off the top of my head. I'm sure there are more as well.

You thought The Last Remnant was good? Really?

SE: "We would like to announce something small today. That we will announce something HUGE at E3 this year. Stay tuned!"

"Little surprise".

Big surprises usually end up being a joke, so I'm guessing this is going to be like a new icon on their webpage or something.

Sony games published from April 2008 to April 2010:
1. GT5P
2. SingStar PS3
3. Buzz! Quiz TV - generally poorly received
4. NBA 09
5. SOCOM Confrontation - generally poorly received
6. LittleBigPlanet
7. MotorStorm 2
8. SingStar Vol 2
9. Resistance 2
10. Killzone 2
11. MLB 09
12. inFamous
13. Uncharted 2
14. Ratchet and Clank Future
15. Buzz Quiz World
16. God of War Collection

22. Secret Agent Clank
23. Buzz! Master Quiz
24. LocoRoco 2
25. Super Stardust Portable
26. Patapon 2
27. Everyday Shooter Portable
28. Resistance Retribution
29. Unbound Saga
30. MotorStorm Arctic Edge
31. NBA 10
32. Numblast
33. Jak the Lost Frontier

I'm missing a few PSN games that are technically published by Sony.

Square Enix (excluding Japanese-only games; not excluding Japanese release games whose US localizations are announced and pending), same time period:
1. Star Ocean 2 PSP.
2. Arkanoid DS
3. Space Invaders Extreme DS/PSP
4. Song Summoner iPod/iPhone
5. Dragon Quest V DS
6. Chrono Trigger DS
7. Dissidia FF
8. Valkyrie Profile DS.
9. Crystal Defenders iPhone
10. Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time
11. Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days
12. Dragon Quest IX DS
13. Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep PSP
14. Dragon Quest VI DS
15. FF Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King WiIWare
16. Infinite Undiscovery 360
17. The Last Remnant PC360
18. Star Ocean IV PS360
19. FFIV The After Years WiiWare
20. Final Fantasy XIII PS360
21. FF Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers
22. Supreme Commander 2 PC360
23. Just Cause 2 PS360PC
24. Nier PS360
25. Hills and Rivers Remain iPhone
26. Space Invaders Extreme 2 DS
27. Exit DS
28. Sliding Heroes iPhone
29. Thexder Neo PSN

I'm missing several games that would have formerly been Eidos and at least a few of the iPhone games.

It strikes me that both libraries have gems, good games, poor games, and turds. *shrugs*

A lot of people, particularly people playing the PC version, did.

OR it's gonna be huge. Reverse psychology etc.

Got to try it out on the PC then, tried playing the 360 version and really really didnt liked, consenus was that it was pretty boring at that.

Yeah I liked it a lot. It had it's clunkiness but the PC version is quite fun. I hear the 360 version runs poorly unless you install it though.

I just wanted to note that:

This was published by Nintendo.

This is a THQ game.

Oops! Okay, knock it down to 18. However, Mario Hoops was developed by Square and quite good to boot. Also, I'd thought Square published SupCom for 360...

EDIT: Nope I was wrong on SupCom 1. Ignore that.
