Square Enix party: more confirmation about a new game

Hey guys,
don't know if this is the right place to post that but a new FF game was revealed.[/URL]

Seems like the game will be running on the PSP. Tetsuya Nomura character designer. Nothing else. :-/ Details will show up at SE Party.
You could at least look at the posts on the current page, pretty much all of the last 400 posts were a result of that game.

Edit: I see it was a cheap ploy for your site as well.

FF 1
FF 2
FFVII: Crisis Core
FF: Dissidia

PSP = awesome for FF fans.

Nobody knows if Dissidia will be playable and the FF1, FF2 breakup makes me cry.

Crisis Core is PSP:s only RPG hope.

I think the quality of the graphics on FFXII were just fine. And I think that with a system that's quite a bit more capable and has more memory, it could look better. It doesn't have to be HD for me to be able to appreciate the game nor get immersed in it. In fact, I have no problem being immersed in SNES 2D games like Chrono Trigger (actually moreso) than I do with some of the more recent 3D graphics fests like Gears. I have no problems jumping back and forth between my PS2 games and the highest-end that PC gaming has to offer, on a weekly basis - so why does a game need to be on the HD platform to be epic? Besides, the bulk of the important story telling in most of these epics is done through FMV, and even the PSX delivered on that front. It's like people all of a sudden forgot that God of War 2 was PS2 game, made that great on a 200mhz system with shitty 3D hardware.

It's more about progression. The more tools and options you have at your disposal, the easier you can immerse people. Talk to any story teller, be it film, comics etc., having more tools and more options is never bad.

Difference is, on the PSP you can do DS quality graphics, but on the DS you couldn't do PSP quality graphics.

Now, if you believe stylus control or dual screens trumps graphics, then that is your taste. Personally I am all about options, ideally I would love to have a system that has great graphics AND innovative controls (which is why I _hate_ Nintendo for going the route they are going) but stylus control and dual screens are not very exciting for me. I am (sort of) glad it is for a lot of people, but I never got the appeal.

As for Wii vs /PS3/Xbox360, I am of the same opinion. I think Sony have interesting things going with the camera (Eye of Judgement) but I would love to see them and/or Microsoft expand their systems with waggle control. Waggle + awesome graphics would be negate any need for the Wii for me.

But for now, Waggle isn't enough for me to deal with dated graphics. It might work for casuals + minors (for now) but seeing games like Mass Effect, Final Fantasy XIII, Metal Gear Solid makes me cry when looking at Zelda and being pissed off majorly at their decision to hold back the graphics on their system. In 2 years Wii is going to look retarded to most people, I am certain of it.

Sadly for you, not most people. Most people do not care, my friend.

Correction. "Wii owners do not care"

If they would, they`d be sad. But seriously it`s obvious Wii games will suffer in comparison to PS3 and 360. Especially with genres like racing, shooters and RPG:s where the graphical difference will be huge.

I think Wii games look just fine, but it would be self-cheating if i`d say the difference didn`t matter.

Sorry, :(, i looked for it in the previous pages, but i wasn't expecting to find this out on page 8 :( Let's see this will be a reminder for people who feel a bit lost here, like me. :) Anyway, hope they'll show something interesting at SE Party. Even if i think that there are already too many FF projects on the way actually...

They will, that's my bet but you almost had me convinced by pretending to be my friend.

People get caught up in hype, it happens. Remember when people were wearing those pacifiers? Just because something gets popular doesn't mean it's not dumb.

So celebrate for now but we'll see in a year or two how it all pans out.

Yeaaahhh.....that's not how the console business works. Anyone doesn't have a year. You need to do something for the here and now for there to be a "next year".

A non ported new FF title.

/head explodes

Let's hope it doesn't go into the oblivion of vapourware for a couple of years, eh FF: Crisis Core?

New FF game for the PSP with Chaos based on Amano's design?

Eh, FFT remake, Drac X Chronicles and now this. Guess I'll have to get a PSP one of these days.

Highly doubtful considering it's a 20th Anniversary title - it'll be released this year.

Obviously, a lot of non- Wii owners don't care either, else they wouldn't become Wii owners.

Well maybe DS fanboys can shut up about the whole "we got SE" thing since SE seems to be sharing the love now.

BTW, DQ9 means nothing for sales in NA/EU while Crisis Core does. Infact, I bet if Crisis Core is a quality game and marketed correctly, it could outsell DQ9 WW due to the region differences. Look at DOC, that title sucked and it did something like 1 million WW.

It's easy for games to sell a lot if you just make up numbers for them.

So, I got around to reading my backlog of this thread.

There were non-remake DS Final Fantasy games?

DQIX will sell 4 million to boot in Japan and DQVIII performed quite well in NA and EU (specially EU, where I hear they crossed 500k). It will take a miracle for CC to outsell DQIX.

Lets say:

FFVII:CC

Jap: 1,000,000
US: 500K
EU: 450K

DQIX

Jap: 4,000,000+
US: 300K
EU: 350K

Thanks to Japan, CC's got nothing on DQIX. I was also being quite generous with CC numbers...

Yeah, I mean DQVIII only sold 1 million plus outside of Japan... insignificant.

Also...

What he said.

Interesting that Dissidia is before the title Final Fantasy. Also the two seem to characters represent order and chaos.

This is going to be a great unveiling event for Square Enix.

Revenant Wings, mayhaps?
Ah yes, I actually did forget about that :lol :lol :lol

I wonder how Dissidia will play. The genre description doesn't exactly inspire confidence. I hope we won't have to wait too long for a gameplay video.

It did? It didn't even break 1 million worldwide. :lol

Didnt it sell like 750k in Japan alone? Im sure that it definetely sold at least more than 250k outside Japan since it debuted in the Top 10 on release in NA and EU.

Well, it's not a RPG. That's for sure.

Last time the subtitle came first before the actual name was with Before Crisis (and soon Crisis Core). It meant the event of the story took place before the main events.

Could this this is a FFI prequel of sorts. Or better yet, Final Fantasy Zero?? If the latter I called it on the first speculation thread!!! :D

Wait, is Last Remnant or Dissidia the 'Dramatic Progressive Action' thing?

Dissidia is Dramatic Progressive Action. The Last Remnant is a turn-based RPG with armies.

Nope. It sold 500k in Japan. It did over 300k in the US.

I think it was around 500k.

I think the genre description is actually what interests me the more. I don't like the FF name whoring but I'm fine with it as long as the games that are under the FF label are reasonably different from one another.
