Square Enix TGS news

I'm confused. Didn't they say 2008 was the year of Final Fantasy XIII. I thought they said they will showcase lots of new information at TGS. I read this somewhere, but forgot.

Everything changed the instance they decided to make some extra money with a demo and vsXIII trailer

Why is everyone in that line looking at the floor? Reminds me of the Radiohead video, Just.
they're not looking at the floor :lol

clearly, you've never been to long lines with gamers.

I know what's happening. I know that S-E didn't announce any ports or remakes at TGS. In fact, they didn't announce.... anything at TGS! :)

Not like I have any input on it, but I have to say that I do not think that Opus should get the hammer if DMprince doesn't.

Just saying.

SE you better fucking give me FF13 with FF12 type of battlesystem, bigger world than FF12, more wepons, more hidden wepons, more secret sidequests, more bosses and hidden ones, I also want more characters to level up in my party. you get the point I want it BIGGER,BETTER and more awesome than FF12 was, do that and I am happy

You do realize it's their first next-gen FF game right? Like the others (namely FFX), it will not have too many side quests, items etc. The excuse is that it's new hardware so don't expect a loaded (deep) game until FFXIV.

I dunno about that, FF7 had a good amount of side quests. FFX is really the only comparison you've got to prove that point, and while I agree that the costs of development in this generation might certainly make it true, I don't know if I'd say that there's a consistent precedent for what you say.

Anyhow, back on the topic of wishes, I want new game plus with all my heart.

New Game + should be in every single RPG. I don't know why it isn't. It made Chrono Trigger amazing and Mass Effect used it very well. A bad example of new game + is Lost Odyssey.

So Star Ocean 4 for PS3 confirmed yet?? If so, my PS3 needs some lovin' and since I own all the Star Ocean games under one console brand umbrella, namely Sony, I just might wait for the SO4 PS3 version than.

Is there ANY INFO AT ALL on the FFXIII trailer? Goddamn.

edit: ok, saw Gamespot's writeup. Seems like there's a tiny bit of new footage. meh.

Okay, so... any Snoopy and Pingu info?

Did the gaming media seriously miss the two most important games in the history of mankind? Augh.

That's not even possible!

It said "Only for Playstation 3 WORLDWIDE" I believe. I think it was posted in a preview.

Well just throwing this out there, but didnt the same thing flash at the end of the closed TGS trailer for FF XIII last year? It doesnt mean much.

It was all a misunderstanding, the whole thing came from a simple email some JP dude sent to SE regarding the PS3 version of SO4. He got a canned reply of "to be determined" which means "we are not working on a PS3 version now" basically.

I dunno why it's so hard to understand, tri-Ace is a small studio. Even if SE ports the game, I really doubt tri-Ace themselves are going to handle it. And if tri-Ace isn't going to handle it, then I feel pity for whatever team ends up porting the game (tri-Ace games don't even run well on BC, I shudder to think what it'd be like to have the game running on a completely different system). SE would rather have tri-Ace working on a new game, than porting an old game. Besides it's not like SO4 is going to bomb, SO is a good seller WW. Also, Shinji Hashimoto answer to the "will SO4 get ported to PS3?" question pretty much killed any possibility that SE will work on a possible port in foreseeable future.

If SE is smart... they bundle the FF13 demo with SO4. that way SO4 will sell even more and they wouldn't have to waste resources in a port IF SO4 ends up bombing (which I really doubt.) This is all hypothetical, though. Don't start quoting me and shit.

Cool man you didn't need to rant all that much, all you needed was your first paragraph :lol

Well the rest of the post wasn't aimed at you, specifically. Just at people hoping for a port.

Indeed it did. I was just saying it said it. I'm not saying that it's true.
In fact, FFXIIIs trailer this time said "Only on Playstation 3 in JAPAN", but I really think there will be a 360 version in Japan once the port is finished.
However, I actually do think Versus will remain exclusive.

Square Enix is the king of this. I'm not saying it's solely responsible for the rebirth of Dragon Quest in Americas, but I'm sure FF12 demo being bundled with DQ8 didn't hurt.

Edit: Btw, I'm not sure this has been mention yet, but since they plan to finish the game on PS3 first, am I to assume staggered release of FFXIII in NA?

I don't do well with media blackouts lol

When SO4 comes out, the XIII port won't even have been done. I can't see including a PS3 demo coming with a 360 game.

Now, the Last Remnant would make a lot of sense, and it's the only way on earth I'll be buying it.

Nop, same date.

Considering FFXIII, VersusXIII, AgitoXIII, 3rd Birthday and Dissidia is being shown in the Sony booth, what are they hiding in the mega theater this year?
in-game footage too holy to be gazed upon by public sheep eyes.

there are reports of in-game Versus footage. maybe new FF13 one as well? but seriously, why all they fucking secrecy? they can't be that early in development that they look too bad for the idiot masses to think that is how the final game will look like.

Every XIII trailer has in-game footage anyway, but yeah, it seems this was the first with Versus in-game footage. It was shown a couple of months ago, but not in a trailer, just in a short demo for the press.

I don't understand why they do it. I used to think it was cool, because I don't want to see much of the games before they're released, so make it impossible to leak, and just let press talk about the trailers. I actually think it's a good middle ground. But, when they're just showing older trailers openly, and the latest trailer privately, it losses any benefit I can possibly imagine it was designed for.

When they put the two trailers out in SD earlier this year, they put out a year old iteration of them both. It's insane. Either keep it private or don't, don't separate it like this.

When the HD direct-feed trailers hit in March, It'll be interesting to see if they take the opportunity to put out the latest version of the trailers.

Paracelsus said:
Anyway in March we'll have the demo to compare real-time with whatever shit they put up in the trailers.
Yeah, and I'm really excited about playing XIII, but I think VersusXIII looks to be a lot more 'me', so the HD trailer for that, showing in-game footage would be really great.

According to this website and FF7ACreunion, Sony and Square Enix will be having an exhibition for FINAL FANTASY XIII in the Playstation Hall Limited Live.

It's on the last day of TGS (Sunday) from 4:00PM until 4:45PM, access is via numbered tickets given out at the Sony theatre booth.

Not sure what will be shown but I'm convinced it'll be a presentation on the game play of Final Fantasy XIII.

Get ready to run for the tickets on Sunday, lads.

I really hope someone films it.

I remember when FFX was first shown, downloading the videos of the shaky footage in really tiny res and piss poor quality, with the download taking hours.

EDIT: The first FFX vid, it actually looks better then the game did, the animation is much more fluid, and his hair is black.

Hope whatever's shown gets leaked (*laughs*) or Square Enix allows people to record it (*laughs harder*).

how are they going to bundle the ff13 demo with SO4?? It wont even be up and running on 360 by then... To be honest with you, it would make complete sense for them to release it on ps3 though... the 360 will never get the sales the ps2 did, both combined might do fine though

Anyway, I just want to see how the gameplay will pan out in ffxiii, if they show that then TGS has been alright...if not, its been pretty crap.

gah, I love that tune in the original ffx showing, why the hell didnt they have it in the game? Love the scope of that teaser...

.

Pretty much. Game will be out around the time the Japanese FFXIII demo comes out, lol. And that means there probably won't be a full JPN release of FFXIII until at least Fall 2009.

I don't think so, but who knows. We'll find out on Sunday!

honestly its better if it doesnt...that game is coming later, and the more they split up the presentation..the more chance we have of getting less to see...

Also, dont have it like the fucking WKC presentation, with the camera staring at the damn guy playing the game for 99% of the fecking time

Being rather random here... but it's rather upsetting the fact that we haven't got a release of FFXII International Zodiac Job System.

Oh yea, I went there ; ;

Here's a simple translation of the conversation between Stella and Noct from the new trailer:

Stella: Lord Noctis can see the light also, right? I also can see it.
Some time ago, down stairs, ..that thing we saw, that was the 'light' wasn't it?

Noctis: It's rather better not to talk about those things.

Stella: Occasionally the 'light' will be seen by someone and that person will be gifted with 'power'. This is from the link created between the deceased city and ours by the Goddess Etro. (pending proper name translation)

That's what is said by Tenebuira.

Noctis: That's the same deal here, it seems.

Stella: Lord Noctis was awarded 'power'?

Noctis: Being like the others would be better. It's a problem. (Need to see some better text for reference)

Stella: That 'light', what do you think it really is?

Noctis: It's always 'there' am I not right? Ah..,

Stella: I'm Stella.

Noctis: Stella, I'll have to be leaving soon.

Stella: I'm sorry for holding you up, Lord Noctis.

Noctis: Just 'Noct' is fine.

Stella: I'll also be leaving. Today I feel that I also received that so called 'power'.
I was able to talk to you.

If it's good for you, next time please come to Tenebuira. I'll show you around.

Noct: That seems good.. I'll give it some thought.

(Stella leaves)

Noct raises his head towards a sound coming.

"Who are you?"

Noct: That's my line.

This isn't 100% accurate so take it with a grain of salt. Some things won't make sense, that's Japanese for you.
